If we can't even have 'peace' here, in this forum, how will Jews and Arabs, Israelis and Palestinians, ever do?

it out there in the 'real world'?

Question for you all:

If we really, truly wanted to get on in this forum - could we?
Additional Details
ARIEH - wow, you BLOCK ME, then answer MY post and I'm the 'hypocrite'? LOL LOL, you really do need a long look in a mirror.

Oh, and I only actually challenged ONE of your posts. Sorry you can't cope with an HONEST RESPONSE.

To the girl who stated 'jews attack palestine' - er, hello? Jordan takes up 82% of what was Palestine. Israel takes up 0.01% or in fact less! And last time I looked, it was Hamas that were ATTACKING Israel and violating the 'ceasefire'.

To ARIEH again - since you have such a low opinion of me, don't waste your time answering my posts. After all, you wouldn't want to come over as a HYPOCRITE...

Peace is possible. It just needs courageous leaders, for example Egypt-Israel peace treaty.

SARA
Well i don't see you slapping me and am not pulling your hair!
we are Adults having decent Debates, its very peaceful :)

PROBLEM JPAS A.R.T.
When I was younger I used to think that peace was a possibility. The more I see that hate and prejudice is very much alive, the less hope I have.

the Palestinians and their muslim fundie friends are not interested in peace, they want to kill every jew on the planet, and guess who will be next ,yes that's right "the christians",until there are moderate muslims that become the leaders instead of the lunatics that are there now there will never be peace,

We could, but EVERYONE would have to want it.

I would say there could be peace when the palestinians learn how to cultivate the land they have, instead of looking over the fence and coveting what their neighbour Israel has. If they would give Israel a chance, they may even be shown to be good neighbours, which will teach them how to irrigate what land they do have. Instead, they want to push the Jews out and dont know how to look after anything at all.

Our sin is not so much in that we do not have peace, but that we could and will not. We suffer for it, but we don't seem to care enough to make the hard choices and the changes for the better.

YES THERE WILL BE PEACE ON EARTH.. ONE DAY
We will have Peace on Earth.
"In that day there will be a highway from Egypt and Assyria... in that day Israel will be a third with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing in the midst of the earth" (Isaiah 19:23-34).OLD TESTAMENT BIBLE

In order for this to happen, people need to have compassion, the ability to put themselves in the other persons shoes, have respect for their religion and their culture, and realise that we are all of us first and foremost, human beings. Unfortunately, some people view those traits as being 'too liberal', and something to be ashamed of. Personally I do not understand this. There are several pro-Israeli posters I get along with here, and the reason is simple, they have all of those traits I just mentioned. But instead of being praised for these attributes, some of them are only criticised for it, because they can actually see the point of the other side, and because they have the guts to criticise their own side when they are wrong.
If we all put into practise these traits, I think we might just have a shot at getting along here. And if the powers that be did the same thing, maybe there could be a chance for peace in the M. E.

Sadly as you say until the Hamas child killers are eliminated there cannot be peace. Until they are militarily defeated the child deaths will continue.

Peace with people is easily achieved by treating others as you would wish to be treated. That's why there'll never be peace in the Middle East

How typical, yet it is a perfect response for your question to see some of these reactions as they ARE a microcosm of the world at large.

It's that aspect of human nature that wants to demonize the "other" for their own irrational hatreds that must be overcome before some people can truly learn to live peacefully.

Hate like that must be taught. I HAVE actually seen a few people come around to respect and a difference of attitude in Yahoo answers..perhaps it's show..perhaps it's genuine. Call me a Pollyanna if you wish, but it is something we as a species cannot simply give up hope in achievieng. Peace CAN be found, but you are right, Paperback, it must come first from individuals to one another before it can expand to groups of people to one another.

I raise my child as my parents raised me, to be respectful and tolerant of the right of individuals and groups to have their own unadulterated culture, customs and beliefs. My tolerance extends to the point where the expression of those beliefs violate certain standards of behaviors: If they attempt to violate another’s civil rights, seek to incite harm to anyone, willfully deceive another or misrepresent the beliefs of others then my tolerance ceases.

It also involves work to sometimes guard against agendas to remove civil liberties. By respecting and protecting the right of all religions or of no religion, you also protect your own rights.
Displaying anger isn't always about promotion of strife, and it doesn't have to lead to violence. Sometimes we as a people don't do what's right to bring about peace until we get angry at injustice or cruelty. That's what happened to stop slavery, to remove child slave labor from our factories, and that is what it may take before peace is acieved in the Middle East. The anger that is now irrationally directed to scapegoat Israel must one day be focused on the institutions and people who have been responsible for strife all along...not the Zionists who simply want to exist in the Jewish homeland in peace, but those who have kept Palestinian Arabs as reufgees for going on four generations now and raised them to believe that the best purpose of their life is to eliminate Israel rather than nation building for themselves! I believe in the Declaration of Human Rights that gives every nation people the legitimate right to establish self-governance and self-determination. Israel dedicated itself to working with the nations surrouding it to establish a peaceful Middle East in it's Declaration of Independence. Look at the charters for Hamas and for the PLO. They are dedicated to elimination of Israel. Only when their desire to build a nation in peace is greater than their desire to destroy Israel will they live and work toward that peace. Israel is ready. Did those living in Gaza when Egypt controlled it cry out that Egypt was an "occupying nation"?
If one wants to focus on false claims or aims of Israel to try to take over the middle east, rather than simply living in peace alongside every other nation as Israel has been trying to do since statehood began, then you are focused on the wrong place and are taking efforts away from solutions.
The Palestinian people have BECOME a unified people and as such DESERVE a homeland; however, it cannot displace the state of Israel. I pray for the day when their passion and desire to be a unified people is focused on nation BUILDING rather than neighboring nation destruction

I believe that the people who TRULY want to get along in this forum DO get along with others who WANT TO GET ALONG with others, alongside them in peace. Those who want to eliminate another or their way of belief, do not.

While people use the cloak of anonymity to often behave in ways they ( hopefully) would not behave in person, and others play manipulative mind games of multiple personalities to disrupt entire questions and harass other users, there ARE still enough people here who are willing and capable of behaving with respect to one another that my time and presence here has been worthwhile.

I've connected to intelligent and respectable people on every contiment and from a myriad of beliefs, some of which are beliefs that I don't find one bit of agreement but I've still managed to forge online friendships and enjoy dialog and learning. I hope that they have gained as much from me as I have from them.

Don't give up people. Peace is worth it.

shalom

This would require both sides to accept their responsibility in the creation of the Palestinian problem. Neither side is really innocent or entirely responsible. I am referring to political responsibility, not people and their cultures and religions. Personally, I think it is stupid to hate an entire culture, country or religion. This applies to Jews, Arabs, Persians, Chechens and so on.

But some people think, if say, I criticize the American involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan, that I must hate Americans, their culture, etc. I do not hate anyone as criticism is part of free speech and some people here can't deal with it, though I am not excusing the hate and racism.

That is just stupidity brought on by personal hypocrisy, hate and delusional world view where abusive people see themselves as victims.

Civility in responding to fair questions, even those that shake the bedrock of beliefs and assumptions, is a necessity on this board and in life. On the other hand, as Palo Chick points out, some issues are just so close to the fabric of your being that you cannot maintain proper deportment and are compelled to blast back, "No, You're wrong and here's why." So we leave those issues under the rug when we deal with our Muslim or Jewish co-workers, contacts, clients, vendors. That does not make us friends or enemies, just people looking to avoid conflict.

Jews and Arabs, Israelis and Palestinians, a couple of terrorists, it really is a broadbased discussion you have going here.

Really PB. Some of us can't even get along with those on the same side.
I have tried to pull info from you before to learn about Judaism. You never answered or even acknowledge my existence. LOL.
Your bigotry against Christians is widely known.
You probably think we should all go away and let you get along with the Muslims but as long as a Muslim is here I will be too.
I get along with several people I count as real friends from here. I don't with some others. You notice my email is always open though. To anyone. You too.
