I agree with Styvies on this one,
Styvies i have read "Catcher in the Rye" a few years ago , its actually a good read , i guess the reason serial killers etc , were found with this book is probably cos they identified with the main character , a boy who , had to grow up too fast and had a miserable childhood of poverty abuse , etc and also maybe from a logistics point of view , cost the places that described , buildings .street names etc are described in great detail and could be used as a coded map..thats how i saw it...
Was The guy that killd JFK and the guy that killed John Lennon had this book in their possesion ?

Let's not insult the Bible and the Koran..... it's not the book that is the problem it's the reader. I would say Mein Kampf, even though I do not believe in censorship of any kind.

There might be a few books that i would like to see removed from the world, but Shakespeare??!
I shudder to think of the world without Shakespeare in it!
The works of Shakespeare has had such a positive influence over much of the Western world, what would it be like if there was no Shakespeare?! ('The Science of the Discworld 2: The Globe' goes into this in depth, but let me just say it would be a depressing place).

I agree with ppl saying the bible, but what about "Catcher in the Rye"? I havent read it but ive heard that serial killers and notnice ppl really enjoy this book, or find inspiration in it, or something like that...

But probably the Bible. Good book. Bad use thereof by horrible and manipulative people.

Wouldn't remove or destroy any book, you should always be aware what the "enemies" have up their sleeves and the best way to find out is read their books. One just has to remember to stay open minded and especially neutral.

Shakespeare!!! Its not relevant to todays society and should be banned from the schools teaching syllabus!! Who understands half of it anyway!

I agree with neoplop. The Bible. It is the most over rated book ever. People need guidance thats for sure, but when they start taking it too litrally, or churches start to abuse it, then what the point?

Dont people realize that that book has been translated and published so many times that the real and true meaning has been lost eons ago?
