I always signal. While speeding may be illegal, I generally see it as one of the lower problems that police could be working on. Unfortunately it is also one that generates a significant source of revenue. It is a lot easier to fine a speeding driver than to fine most other crimes.

For those responding that it is "illegal to flash to warn of a police trap", please post a reputable source to back it up. The few forums that I scanned on the topic didn't cite any sources either, but most indicated that warning of a police trap did not constitute obstruction of justice. The only issue with flashing the lights really is when it is dark or raining and even with those conditions, you can still blink them off to indicate that someone has cleared you while passing (i.e. a truck can now pull into the lane in front of you without clipping your vehicle).

I do, after scanning the road ahead to verify that there are no cops ahead of me.
While it has been tested in court numerous times and declared to not be illegal, it pisses cops off to no end, and since the job attracts the "bully" personality typically, they can detain you for a set amount of time for only a hunch. They know you won't be charged, but they can 'f' up your day. So look ahead before helping your fellow citizen.

I don't know how to drive, but how do you know that there is a radar trap?
Do they ,like, put a sign infront of that area?
That would be really cool.
I can picture a city with signs like "Radar Trap. Reduce Speed", and all the " Speed Bump, Reduce speed" signs removed. That ought to be interesting.

I don't know about other states but in NJ the flashing of head lights is illegal and they sometimes set up traps to catch those that do so. The reason it is illegal is because the car can be construed as police cars as they often use flashing head lights while on a mission.

I am not sure what your signal is to warn a fellow traveler that a radar trap in in front of them . But here , I point 2 fingers down , this tells the other drivers that a speed trap is ahead . I would always do this to a driver , and ,yes I expect it done in return

No because if a cop saw you do that, you can get into trouble. If some one is stupid enough to speed, you should let them pay the price.
