If you were driving your car and saw?

someone asking you to stop to save an injured person in a road accident... now I know this issue opens the door to so many questions.. but let's start with.. will you stop and pick up the injured person?
Additional Details
@Boycot : I won't say I would.. I'll say I did.. it happened to me in real life.. but I noticed that the guy who had a bad leg injury told me once we entered the hospital to get out immediately before they start asking questions.. and later I understood that I could have been accused of being involved in the accident.. and as ruby mentioned yesterday.. guilty till proven innocent

It would be nice to think you can, but in many countries you can easily find yourself with a hefty lawsuit for getting involved, even if you save someones life.
In Australia it is not recommended that you stop to assist someone, due to the reality that you could end up in court .
Although I think I would take that risk, especially if there were children involved or it was an obvious life threatening situation.

unfortunately people are very eager to sue. they see opportunity for $$$ and boy do they go after it. Good for you for helping and THANKS GOD nothing bad happen to you for it!

7atem, when I was a child a drunk driver crash his car in my grandma lawn and he killed his 3 year old son. Us kids in house could see all because it was right in front of the window. I remember seeing all adult run out and my mom did CPR on the boy and tried to save him but he was too damaged.
That experience stayed with me and it reinforced my nature in me to help people whenever, however I can. (common sense of course will prevail, I'm no fool or i try not to be anyway )

Any surprise I work in hospital now?

Depends on which country i am in and the time of the accident, and the place where the accident occurs. It could be a ruse. Like somebody pretend to be injured in a road accident, then, you stop your car and get out of the car to help, suddenly, you realise you are being mugged.

It happens too many too often here.

Yes I have stopped to help someone who was injured in an accident. I think... nope I know it was the right thing to do. He was banged up very badly bleeding from his head I sit on the side of the road and held a towel to his head while we called the police and ambulance. It was raining so hard that day he hydroplaned and hit the ditch right in front of me. Don't know the guy still to this day but I had to help him.

Yes of course, without a second of hesitation. It has happened to us twice. Once hubby was alone and he encountered a hit and run case. He took the boy to the hospital immediately and was accompanied by the boys' friends who told what happened at the hospital. He left after leaving his personal info but nobody contacted us after that.

The second time I was with him. This last summer we decided to go to Marsa Matrooh for a change instead of the North Coast. There was a terrible accident on the way and not only us, but tens of cars stopped and everybody was offering whatever help they could till the ambulance arrived. Surprisingly they were not late so thankfully we didn't have to transfer anyone anywhere.

The problem in taking the risk of transferring an injured person is that you can do further harm and injury. The paramedics know how to do it correctly in order to avoid complications. However, from what I saw the people doing to those victims I was horrified. They actually were trying to get one of them on his feet and walking! Rabina yostor.

i would stop and ask for help, ie call the police and the ambulance .
i would fear causing more injury by moving him .
i would also fear getting involved in te accident and accused of causing it.
may God forbid that i find myself in such a situation , for my heart is too weak.

samy n
yes of course but you must know simple write methods to bear him other wise you may increese his harms

Yes, without a doubt. Having had a very serious road accident I would always stop, if only to make sure the police and ambulance had been called, that the injured person hadn't been moved unnecessarily and to try and help the uninjured people.

there`s no doubt about that !
i always put myself in the others shoes & imagine how would it be .

have a nice day

Depends ya hatem ,

If the road is empty , and dark and there are no people around , I will call the ambulance or police, and try to go and take a look, bcoz there are many robbery as eman said like that,

But if there were cars around , sure I will help ,

If I must take him to hospital , I will try to take another man with me , so if anything goes wrong then there is a witness,

young_widow_in_black
yes sure i will stop and i will try to do my best to help

In Egypt many people will stop and help, so there is no need for my humble help. But if there is only me, at least I would stop and wave to others to help and try to call an ambulance, I would worry much that my help would aggravate the injury. In some countries like Germany it is required before obtaining the permission to drive it is required that you take courses in first aid, and if you do not assist you are guilty. If however there is no chance to find others I would offer my help with caution.

7ala is fluffy ?
Yes i would stop, but i would assess the situation & call the emergency services rather than transport someone.
As the others have said, in some countries it is not advisable to stop, but i am a first aider, so instinct is to stop.

I like this series of "what if".
so what if someone asked from me to pick an injured person?of course I'll take him with no doubt but I've to make sure it's not faked by followin my instinct which never lies.
we always have to imagine ourselves in those situation.

kmtiburona
No. First off, how do I know what kinda injuries the person has? I could make it worse by picking him up and putting him in my car. Second, I feel by calling for help would just make a lot more sense. Depending where the accident is, it could be a potential danger to other motorists; therefore also needs to be cleaned up. So by calling for help, not only do I save the person in more ways then most people are aware of, I can also prevent another possible accident.

Taylor R
want an honest answer? well first i probably wouldnt notice but if i did the most i might do is call for help..

i wouldnt stop, unless i knew them.
