Funny - you asked a similar question on the Israel board too (see: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AnUywlqPSrTs.DLZrg4VrQ_sy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20070913093900AA7Tvxy&show=7#profile-info-Ma3FGYJIaa )- perhaps you should just stay home because it seems you are afraid to go anywhere.

Good Luck!!!

Egypt is really nice the people are friendly and welcoming and is a great place to visit.

Egypt has beautiful places to vist. Im not going to say Egypt is the cleanest place ever as it isn't but it isn't dirty it has liter but just like places in the uk. I have never felt like i was walking in a rubbish dump there isn't that much litre. It is sandy and sometimes dust but then it is desert so thats what you would expect.

As for water stick to drinking bottles water and don't use ice cubes unless you know that they weren't made from tap water. You can use the tap water to brush your teeth. It is better to eat in the resort of eat in well established restaurants as oyu don't know how htey cook their food in little places.

Safety, well i feel very safe i am blonde and i ahve never been kidnapped and i have been to Egypt so many times so i don't agree with the comment made by nick as well as the extremist comment. The Egyptians are really friendly nad just want to help you to make sure you enjoy your time in their country.

If you don't want unwanted attention then here is a word of advice if outside the resort then it is better to wear clothes that cover your back and shoulders and not low cut so a t-shirt is fine and cover your legs to your knee. When in the resort of beach unless it says somewhere you can wear what you want and you don't have to worry it is just better to wear clothes that cover your body more when out in public places so you won't get unwanted attention.

So just relax you will return alive and im sure you will love Egypt it really is a great place.

To NICK RUMPF don't be so small minded not all arab people are extremeists and i'm blonde i have never been kidnapped and i have been Egypt more times than you can think off. You have visited Egypt once and i don't think you really witnessed blondes been kidnapped and extremeists around the corner.

My addition is to ignore the negatives, come here & witness for yourself the Historic sites of Cairo & Luxor, the Marine life in the Red sea & much much more this Country has to offer, including the most friendliest, helpful people to make your holiday complete.

It is reasonable safe... but definately not sanitary. The toilets are revolting... and the bathrooms in most hotels are awful. But it is a great place to visit and so much history. Go for it but take plenty of disinfectant. Having said that, I lived there for years and so do many other tourists and we've all survived. I even took my newborn son to visit his relatives. (Stay away from the men! and don't let their sweet talking fool you!)

Moonrise
Egypt is the nicest, safest, most sanitary country in the world.
i have been all over the world. i had to be cautious in most places , b ut here everybody goes where they like day and night.
it is wise not to have exposed parts of the body in the streets. but in hotels you are absolutely free to wear what you like.
there are many egyptian blondes , they arent harressed . they are like everybody else.we have beauties , but they are dressed modestly in the cities. on the beaches, they can wear 2 pieces swimwear in specific beaches .
come over and you will live with fabulous memories .

dont worry, you will most likely stay alive. i think its hilarious how you consider it a terrorist country.

anoooni
no !!

and not even safe lol .. to be honest its kinda dirty !! the streets aren't that clean and you'll find poor people asking for money everywhere ..

there are many better options .. good luck ..

Kissa M
When my mother came back, she said it was safe if you were with a large group, but the streets were dirty and trash ridden. She was travelling alone in a large tour group and they still treated her poorly because she was a woman alone.
This was all in large tourist areas also.

Oh and she's very much of the belief "when in rome do as the roman's do" so she wasn't dressed nor did she act disrespectfully.

Im a European and visited the place one year ago.
Its extremely polluted but still beautiful. Also of course dont drink and eat anything water based . (ice creams, etc.)
I might add, the water in the USA might just be as bad as the one in Egypt so you might survive :)

About crime...Dont go around at night alone, exept in the heavily touristic zones. There might always be an extremist around the corner so watch out (im serious). Its an arab country after all. Also if you are blonde be careful, kidnapping might happen !

Go to egypt its amazing!

I suggest Sharm el Sheikh as its what i know and i know its clean and safe. If you plan to go to a certain area of egypt state it in your question so those who have been to that area can comment hun!

Liek i said i found sharm really nice, clean and safe and at some times it was just me and my sister walking about!
