Is Israel a discriminatory state? |
According to an Israel civil rights group it is just that:
http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3634382,00.html
Not only does Israeli society not tolerate the advancement of its own Arab population, it is equally averse to the plight of disabled people and women.
And much of this discrimination may be totally deliberate according to the Israeli PM:
http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3622276,00.html
However, this self-diagnostic introspection at least shows that the Israeli media is free to expose the failings of the Zionist state.

Hell, YES
you can also call it "Zionist state" = discriminatory state. |

Indeed my friend you hit a nail in the head with your question.
In my opinion Israel has all the symptoms of a tumorous body, left alone to rot by us, the Modern countries of the West.
We have all witnessed the inability of the Jews to govern a small piece of land and just because they hold some monetary power they have achieved to keep us away from their own disease.
Hopefully times are changing and we must stop this cancerous infection to become a total moral and ethics necrosis.
Some war crime hearings would be necessary to show these people the right path both in religion and way of life.

Many Jews believed that Israel is a free country but many are discovering everyday that Israel is nothing but un solved colonial conflict. |

Yes. It is. I can copy-paste mile long answers like the jews do but I think that is not necessary as the truth is just too obvious and indisputable. |

Many people of Jewish religion are extremely discriminatory, very much like in other religions that comprise zealots and that live in a state that is under constant threat from other religious enemies. So I would say very likely it is. However, not all Jewish people think that way. |
|

zion no more

Yes I saw this.
There have been many such articles over the years pointing out the very same points. For as long as these articles have been written, zionists have been denying that they are an Apartheid state; denying that they are breaking international law; denying that they have done anything wrong at all. I will be interested to learn if this criticism breaks through the barrier of lies they create everyday. |

Precisely the point- Israel, the state itself, was created as the main stronghold of the European and Western Nations to prevent the advancement of the African and Arab nations. |

I don't know but Israel as a nation without an official religion should get together with jewish and arab people because they are the majority of population in this country.. and arabs don't like israel because they stole their land according to them.. |

Yes, and at the most fundamental level. The core principle of zionism is the idea of a state wherein one single ethnic/religious group enjoys a status that is beyond being merely "privileged"; the whole point is that the society and it's institutions exist solely for the benefit of the one select group. |

Yes. One does not have to desire to live in Occupied Palestine to know that and to care. Brutal racism is the rightful concern of all decent people everywhere. So is colonialism. It is hardly a question of minding one's own business. |

Beautiful Sunset

Of course!
haven't you seen what the jews are doing to the poor Palestinians?
They try to brake their will with thousands little "tricks" like checkpoints every 100 meters, jew only roads, blue car license plates, swastikas sprayed on the palestinian doors etc.
Even handicapped people on wheel chairs are considered "Palestinians" and it is impossible for them to move around at all.
I have read that the jews don't allow handicapped people in their shops because it is "bad for business".
A person on a wheel chair cannot visit even a church or a museum because there are not any special "wheel chair" sidewalks.
Just like for blind people.
In Europe all the side walks have special plates fitted on the ground that can help the blind person find his/her way without asking. In Braille system that the blind people can "read" with the aid of their feet.
Most European beaches have wooden runways so a person on a wheel chair can go and swim like everyone else without having to stay home away from a simple joy like this.
bye bye |

Well, Win, what would YOU call a nation that occupies and terrorizes the indigenous inhabitants? I'd call it a lot worse things than "discriminatory."
As an animal lover, I'd also like to point out that Israel deals with homeless animals in a rather, shall I say, "unique" way; they place poisoned meat out for them so that they'll suffer and die, rather than have to provide shelters for them. |

a state that is run by a minority and dictates to the majority and only allows its own kind in certain areas and use of roads and amenities and builds walls to keep them out, is that discriminatory mmm tough decision, not.

What amazes me in the media especially ARABS some TV channels (not all) once they wanted to talk about brutal regimes they start by giving the Israeli democracy some praise in fact when any starts that way I usually say " what the hell do you know? '
some might say no it is democracy i9n side Israel " for Israelis " I still say " what the hell do you know "
do Palestinians which counted around 23% have any 23% rights?
the answer is "of course not we mean democracy fo the 77%
well well then 77% democracy ,Russians are about 20% ,are they included, ethiopians are they included,Iraqis the % will go less and less so
Is it that because of the investigations of the PM ? which is not carried out in Arab countries,or what? |
|

The First Dragon
|
Well, Jewish and Christian Israelis are required to serve in the armed forces, while Arab Israelis are not . I guess that is discriminatory.
Frankly I think the collective Israeli conscience is so sensitive on this issue, that they are sometimes excessively self-critical. |

I hate the people who compare Israel to Nazi Germany. There is no doctor Josef Mengele in Israel. Mossad let Mengele escape so they could catch Adolf Eichmann even if Josef Mengele was pure evil. NEVER AGAIN Josef Mengele can burn in hell. |

Israeli Arabs living in Israel are entitled to the full basket of health, welfare and care services, paid for by Jewish Israeli tax payers, even though only 30% of Israeli Arabs are in employment. They send their children to schools paid for by Jewish Israeli tax payers, they use hospitals paid for by Jewish Israeli tax payers.
Israel also supplies the people of Gaza with their fuel and water - and the Gazans use the Shekel, the currency of Israel, in their daily transactions.
In return, the Israeli Arabs give the Jewish Israelis bombs and rockets.
Israel is the size of Wales, with a population the size of London. She is surrounded by more than 30 hostile Arab states, who WILL NOT give support to either the Israeli Arabs, the Palestinian Arabs or the people of Gaza.
I think that clarifies who is being discriminatory! |

what the heck is a "discriminatory state?" according to way it is being defined all nation-states are discriminatory. If that is the case then of course it is as is India, Iran, Indonesia, and any other nation you can think of that starts with the letter "I" for example (just demonstrating some discrimination ;-).
Good Luck!!! |

Israel discriminates against Jews in favor of Arabs. The Arabs use Jewish hospitals and blow up Jews. Jews don't blow Arabs. |

No,The arab population is represented in the Knesset.

Israel is not a discriminatory state,Israel is one of the most open societies in the world. Out of a population of 6.7 million, about 1.3 million — 20 percent of the population — are non-Jews (approximately 1.1 million Muslims, 130,000 Christians and 100,000 Druze).1
Arabs in Israel have equal voting rights; in fact, it is one of the few places in the Middle East where Arab women may vote. Arabs currently hold 8 seats in the 120-seat Knesset. Israeli Arabs have also held various government posts, including one who served as Israel's ambassador to Finland and the current deputy mayor of Tel Aviv. Oscar Abu Razaq was appointed Director General of the Ministry of Interior, the first Arab citizen to become chief executive of a key government ministry. Ariel Sharon's original cabinet included the first Arab minister, Salah Tarif, a Druze who served as a minister without portfolio. An Arab is also a Supreme Court justice.
Arabic, like Hebrew, is an official language in Israel. More than 300,000 Arab children attend Israeli schools. At the time of Israel's founding, there was one Arab high school in the country. Today, there are hundreds of Arab schools.2
In 2002, the Israeli Supreme Court also ruled that the government cannot allocate land based on religion or ethnicity, and may not prevent Arab citizens from living wherever they choose.2a
The sole legal distinction between Jewish and Arab citizens of Israel is that the latter are not required to serve in the Israeli army. This is to spare Arab citizens the need to take up arms against their brethren. Nevertheless, Bedouins have served in paratroop units and other Arabs have volunteered for military duty. Compulsory military service is applied to the Druze and Circassian communities at their own request.
Some economic and social gaps between Israeli Jews and Arabs result from the latter not serving in the military. Veterans qualify for many benefits not available to non-veterans. Moreover, the army aids in the socialization process.
On the other hand, Arabs do have an advantage in obtaining some jobs during the years Israelis are in the military. In addition, industries like construction and trucking have come to be dominated by Israeli Arabs.
Although Israeli Arabs have occasionally been involved in terrorist activities, they have generally behaved as loyal citizens. During the 1967, 1973 and 1982 wars, none engaged in any acts of sabotage or disloyalty. Sometimes, in fact, Arabs volunteered to take over civilian functions for reservists. During the outbreak of violence in the territories that began in September 2000, Israeli Arabs for the first time engaged in widespread protests with some violence.
The United States has been independent for almost 230 years and still has not integrated all of its diverse communities. Even today, 60 years after civil rights legislation was adopted, discrimination has not been eradicated. It should not be surprising that Israel has not solved all of its social problems in only 60 years.

No it is democratic but inside Israel, I think Israel is having a proble dealing with other countries around, and also other countries don't want to accept Israel... endless war. |

Not exactly. Israel has affirmative action for arabs. Israelis get a long great with the druze and christian population which are arab. It is because of war with other muslim arab countries that there is slight arab-israeli tension.
Believe if there was a seperate palestinian arab state, it would be more discriminatory, especially if run by Hamas. Selling land to a jew is punishable by death. That is a little too harsh if you ask me. It would be similar to other muslim countries. Jews can live there but under harsh restrictions aka discrimination.
This website claims there is sexual harassment in Israel? Wait, that's right there is no sexual harassment in USA or Europe. Of course only israel. Other arabs do well such as the bedoin and Druze, whom are not violent against israel. I don;t understand these leftist websites. They twist the facts.
Mo you realize that arabs have persecuted blacks way more than white people right?
"prevent the advancement of the African and Arab nations."
This is slightly correct. America has attacked the west militarily couple times. But, Africa in itself is relies on Europe. It burrows too much money and political strength from them to be independent. They don't have to do this. But they do, because it is easier. What books do u read? |

every state on the planet has problems with racism, including the US and all of europe. the fact that israel debates in openly proved that israel is a free, open democracy with civil rights for all.
the fact that these discussions never happen in saudi arabia, gaza, or any other arab country proves that the real racism is in the arab world, where non-muslims have no rights. |
