After the 2nd world war it seemed like a good idea to create a new country called Israel in the centre of the Middle East..surrounded by Arab and Muslim countries....is it any surprise that there has never been...nor ever will be peace. The sooner the Americans stop bankrolling and arming Israel the better....let them fight without the backing of the USA and see how they perform then....I don't think Israel would be so gung-ho!...What Israel is doing is barbaric and rightly seen across the world as despicable behaviour.

Hamas has attacked civilians, intentionally I might add, for the past few years. They openly declare that they want all Israelis to die.

I think it's interesting that Hamas is deliberately hitting public areas of Israel, yet no one is objecting to it. One of the first places hit by a rocket in Israel was a kindergarden. But I suppose the kindergarden was asking for it.

israel is not occupying gaza! in 2005 they ended occupation and made all of the 9,000 jews living there live their homes so they would have nothing to complain about. but hamas, a terrorist organization, was elected in a democratic election. since then, they have launched nearly 3,000 missiles into israel. i have a lot of friends and family members who have been affected by that.
israel has waited long enough and needs to secure its people. any country in the world would do this. they must defend their land and their people.
the difference between isreal and the leaders of gaza is that when we hurt them, israel mourns. they don't want israel to exist and when they kill jews, they are proud of it.

I guess the world can tolerate killing children as long as they are Israeli children purposely targeted by Hamas. Apparently the world can also tolerate Hamas shooting rockets out of schools, apartments, and mosques full of civilians and children. Thus Hamas is directly responsible for the deaths of those civilians and children, and even seems to want that.
If the world can tolerate that, it had better be able to tolerate Israel's efforts to defend its own civilians.

Israel has been defending itself for years against suicide bombers rockets fired into Israel daily by Hama$$ backed by Iran,Syria.

Yes,killing children,innocents anywhere is unacceptable yet Hamas launches their rockets from Mosques,schools civilian homes..Why,but to attempt tuning the world,the biased medi against them,more Pallywood propaganda! No, but we certainly should know that this "war" will make the Gazan people hate us in perpetuity. I hope that they can forgive us someday, but it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't. The rest of the world hates the Jews anyway, but this conflict allows people's frustrations with us to come out. Wherefore, before last week it wasn't politically correct to voice your hatred so blatently.

If your neighbor made an agreement together that you both would agree to disagree and just stay off each others property with a mutually agreed property line, and someone just throws a stick of dynamite from your neighbors house into your backyard where your kids are playing. Israel is unfortunately a malignant tumour that we, the International community must disinfect the soonest possible.
The child killers must be stopped right now.
Even if Israel was right before this, it lost everything once the Jews started acting like their Nazi Germans.
Sixty years of failure as a human race is enough I think.

Unless you believe that protecting themselves from the Hamas (who are terrorists) and trying to make peace and protect their country is bad.. Anti semitism people usually target Jews.. such as the Holocaust for instance. After they had to experience something as horrible as that do you really think they would go and kill children? NO! They try to protect their country and do not kill children at all. Also, some background info: Israel and Palestine both got their own seperate land from the U.N. Palestine went and tried to take the Israeli's land.. and lost. Therefore Israel deserved the land.. its their homeland! I just can't believe you would believe something as far-fetched and crazy as them killing children (as Hamas are firing bombs into their country and killing manyy people)

In Israel 900 are dead to rocket and missile attacks alone from Hamas over the last 8 years. The number of Israelis killed by suicide bombers, car bombs, sniper attacks, terrorist groups opening fire on Israelis in malls and public spaces is quite simply, overwhelming.

Where was your concern when Hamas fighters came across the border and kidnapped 2 young boys playing in a field, dragged them into a cave and stoned them to death? These same 'heroic' psychopaths then machine gunned the mourners at the funeral as the boys were being buried.

Where is your concern for the Israeli man sitting in his house with his less than 1 year old baby sitting on his lap when a Hamas sniper shot the child through the head?

Could Have Seen This War Coming

Nearly a year ago, I was in the southern Israeli city of Sderot, where, on almost any day, you could see the current war coming. "The next Middle East war may start over Sderot," I wrote back then. I came by my prescience the hard way -- in a bomb shelter. That day, three Qassam rockets had hit the city. It took no genius to see the imminence of war. It takes real stupidity to blame it on Israel.

On some days, dozens of rockets fell on Sderot. A blimp hovered over the town, and when it electronically spied an incoming rocket, the sirens went off. In Sderot, the sirens were virtually a single wail on some days. Everyone took shelter because shelters are everywhere -- a constant reminder of the nearness of death or, at the very least, destruction. Even a dud can bust through the roof of a house.

I get the impression that Israel is expected to put up with this. The implied message from demonstrators and some opinion columnists is that this is the price Israel is supposed to pay for being, I suppose, Israel. I am informed by a Palestinian journalist in a Washington Post op-ed article that Israel is trying to stop "amateur rockets from nagging the residents of some of its southern cities." In Sderot, I saw homes nagged to smithereens.

While I was reading the online version of the Israeli newspaper Haaretz for all the latest news about the war, a pop-up ad announced itself: "Camp Kimama, Israel, 2009 -- What childhood memories should be made of." The picture shows kids frolicking in the water. Placed next to stories about battle, it was a jarring -- but vivid -- statement of war aims: the expectation of normal life.

The CIA's World Factbook says that Israel has a population of 7,112,359. Of these, about 5,434,000 are Jews. That includes 187,000 settlers in the West Bank, about 20,000 in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights bordering Syria, and about 175,000 in East Jerusalem. It does not include, however, the approximately 750,000 Israelis living in the United States -- some for a brief amount of time, some for an extended period, some permanently. For a variety of reasons -- and often with considerable pain -- they have given up on the country of their birth.

As the leaders of Hamas understand, the war in Gaza is about Israel's incessant fight to be a normal country. Maybe that's impossible. The war between Arab and Jew predates the founding of Israel in 1948. For the Palestinians, it is a fierce fight for Arab justice, for Arab pride, for Arab myth -- for ancestral houses and orange groves that few living have ever seen. For Israel, it is so kids can swim in a lake.

Three years ago, Israel pulled out of the Gaza Strip. Good, the world said. Next, pull out of the West Bank, the world said. But then Hamas, which has vowed to destroy Israel, won the election in Gaza. Sderot soon became hell. The West Bank is controlled by Fatah, the moderate Palestinian organization, which once had control of Gaza, too. If Israel withdraws from the West Bank, will rockets come from there? If you lived in Tel Aviv, a spit from the West Bank, would you take the chance?

Anyone could have seen this war coming. The diplomats and demonstrators who are now so engaged in the problem and the process were nowhere to be found when rockets began raining down on southern Israel. The border between Gaza and Egypt is riddled with tunnels -- some for food, some for weapons. The international monitors that are so evidently needed now were just as evidently needed then.

Conventional wisdom says that when Israel went into Lebanon in 2006, it lost that war. Hezbollah stood up to the mighty Israeli army; Israel could not muzzle Hezbollah's rockets. That may not be the way Hezbollah sees things, however. After the war, its leader, Hassan Nasrallah, said he had miscalculated. He was not prepared for the fury of the Israeli attack. He apologized. Now, Hezbollah takes no role in the current war. It will be back, but still has wounds to lick.

The horrors of war are not to be dismissed or demeaned. In 2006, Israel accidentally killed 28 civilians in the Lebanese village of Qana when it attempted to take out a nearby rocket site. In Gaza, innocent Palestinians are being killed. The suffering is great and cannot be ignored. But what has been ignored is the series of events that led to this war. Anyone could see how it was going to start. As always, though, it's a lot harder to see how it ends.

How could you be so naive? First of all, anti semitism is nothing new, I hope you realize that by now. Second of all, it is because of the cowardly actions of Hamas that these children died. They use schools as bases to fire rockets from. It is a terrible choice, but if Israel had not acted, it may have meant even more Israeli children dying.

The world community has condoned and accepted it for hundreds of years.
There is no new sin under the sun.
There have always been pacifist and cowards too. Trying to find a reason for not have to go and do their part.

When Israel calls a Hamas commander's home and warns him to get his family out because they know he's storing rockets there and they're about to destroy them, what person in their right mind ignores such a warning and requires his four wives and 10... that's TEN children to remain with him inside the house while it gets bombed?

If you really want to talk about something that should never be tolerated then I would suggest it be the inhumane use of children as human shields and deliberately bringing about their deaths so they can be exploited to somehow insanely justify the next war on Israel.

These crimes against humanity are NOT Israel's fault. The blood of these children is on the hands of those who are using them as fodder for their hateful war on Israel.

In response to your question---well, it would certainly seem so. But Jews have always played the "victim" card and it appears as though since they are unwilling to take responsibilty for their own actions, they will continue to do so.
Israel is even >gasp<! being vilified here in the U.S., and it's about time. Our news reports tonight actually showed dead Palestinian children, something that is unprecendented in our Zionist-dominated media.
The Jews love to piss and moan about everyone hating them so. It's way past time they look in the mirror and ask themselves WHY....and here's a head's-up: You ain't ANYbody's "chosen people"!
