Israel is pretty safe, as long as you don't go to the West Bank, Gaza strip or within 40 km of the Gaza strip. Other then that just exercise common sense and don't ride any public buses. I have been on a family trip to Israel and have not run into any problems but you should still be careful. Also another thing, a lot of the questions on Yahoo Answers about Israel gets politically polarized responses rather then truthful ones. I suggest you get information from your government travel advisory or travel agent instead. |

Go to Gaza first, that would be an interesting human rights trip. How about working for habitat for humanity and help in the rebuilding of the Palestinian homes in the region or a group like it, or peace group. That would change your life and perspective. |

No. Thanks to years of terror attacks, the Israelis have a very good security system. Every restaurant, synagogue, school, theater, mall and other public place is guarded by a guard and often a metal detector. Israelis report anything suspicious and special terror experts are on the scene in minutes. Also, since the security fence, the number of these attacks has been reduced drastically. You may want to stay out of sderot and other communities that are within rocket range from Gaza. |

It's very dangerous and this "government" should be dismantled before they turn the whole world into a nuclear wasteland. |

Yes, israel is the most dangerous place in the world. There are bombings everyday and its just a horrible place to be. You have the entire beautiful safe world ahead of you. Why you would go there is beyond me and doesnt make any sense!!! dont you have a mother that could put some sense into you!!!!
dont believe the locals who tell you its not dangerous, they just want foreigners to go there and spend their money. |

here? as usual. recently a 13 year old was killed by a palestinian who also wounded his 7 year old playmate with an axe.
I would say that there Jerusalem and the West Bank and the cities in the south which in the missile range from Gaza are the most dangerous.
you should know very well where you travel, if you get lost in israel and drive into an arab village it can be fatal. other than these things - it's quiet here. ah, yes, almost forgot, there was an attempt to place explosives in a Haifa mall (north) about 2 weeks ago, but the mall's security spotted the bombs so the attack was prevented. |

Most visits to Israel are trouble-free provided you stay in areas away from the borders.
I particular, the situation is very unstable in Israeli/Gaza area because of the security situation and kidnap threat.
At the present time many people also have difficulties on entry and exit at Ben Gurion Airport, Tel Aviv. Security is at a very high level.
It is not advisable to travel to Sheba'a Farms and Ghajar on the border with Lebanon because of military operations.
Do not go within 5km of the Gaza perimeter, including Sderot, because of rocket fire from Gaza.
Following recent events in Gaza, Israel has closed Route 10 (Israel/Egypt border) and prohibited access to sites 3km east of the road.
A high threat from terrorism in Israel remains if you go away from the main areas such as Tel Aviv. |

it's pretty safe. just listen to the suggestions of where not to go.
but it's all relative. a friend of mine was not allowed to visit me, while it's safe here, while i live here and my mother never let me go kiryat arba and hebron because of the arabs, and when i got married to someone who lived there he told me it's not at all dangerous... so we went anyway. |

NO NO NO,Israel is not dangerous right now ,Israel is very safe, it has the best security in the world.I understand that after receiving a steady dose of Palestinian terrorism with bloody pictures of Israeli victims through television and newspapers - you have anxiety. BUT please remember, measured by square feet and population, according to FBI statistics - Israel is far safer than most major North American cities!
The anxiety you feel has been provided to you by both the Palestinians and the anti Israeli media and propaganda. Israel is not in a war - in the conventional sense. No missiles, no scuds, no tanks in the streets. The Palestinian's are using psychological weapons called: "Terror Attacks" - which if used properly spread terror and fear - if we allow it to spread!
The Israeli government and media, in a fair and just attempt to illustrate to the world that Israel is being victimized, must show the blood. And perhaps because the Israeli government is very weak on professional public relations - finding a fair balance between the outgoing signals of being a victim and the fear attached to terror attacks is becoming very difficult.
You must go in the Summer , you will love it, its a great country, lots to see and do and people are very warm and friendly.
I have also attached a short clip made by an American College Student , who shares an inside perspective on how fun and hip and cool Israel really is.
