West Bank and East Jerusalem are part of Palestine.

SARA
Internationally the West Bank and Gaza Strip are recognized as the "Palestinian Territory". and Soon it will be an independent country (As what Hilary clinton discussed with both parties).

HopelessZ00
Some people don't want Palestine to be a separate state, thereby saying that Palestine is/was Jordan. At the same time they don't want it to be part of Israel. I understand your confusion. This might help you. Cheers!

The West Bank is a Palestinean Terrirroy occupied by Israel controlled by Political Party Fatah

UN rulings have established the Palestinian Territories as a recognized body and the Palestinian Authority as it's de jure government. The PT is comprised of the WB and Gaza. The UN has repeatedly ruled that the continuing occupation of the PT is illegal. Currently the P.A. has only an observer's post at the UN - in essence a non-voting seat - since the PT cannot become a de jure state as long as it is occupied, demonstrated control of one's territory being a requirement of de jure statehood. It is most emphatically not Israeli territory nor has it ever been. Under international law you cannot remain in indefinite possession of territory seized during a war; it must be returned to the country to which it belongs or it must receive it's independence. The U.S. for example cannot annex Iraq as the 51st state simply because it was militarily conquered.

The West Bank, including East Jerusalem, is the eastern part of the Palestinian territories. It has never belonged to Israel although most the territory has been under Israel military occupation since 1967. It had been captured by Jordan in the late 1940s and was officially relinquished by Jordan to the Palestinian Liberation Organisation in 1988.

East Jerusalem was annexed by Israel in 1967 but this has not been recognised by the United Nations or the European Union.

Israeli settlements exist in the West Bank but these are considered a violation of international law by the United Nations Security Council, the International Court of Justice, the European Union. Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch. Continued expansion of the settlements in the West bank has been condemned by the United States and the European Union in 2007 and by the US Secretary of State in 2008.

The River Jordan and the Dead Sea form the border with Jordan in the east, while Israel borders the West Bank to the north, west and south.

No, according to International Law, the West Bank is NOT PART OF ISRAEL. NOT ONE SQARE INCH OF IT. That being said, Israeli War Criminals and also Israeli Terrorists(who call themselves settlers) kill many Palestinian women and children everyday and bulldoze their homes in the West Bank so that Israeli Terrorists can steal their land.

Please watch the documentary 'Iron Wall'

West Bank is one of the occupied territory of Palestine...

Currently, the Israeli government are encouraging their citizens to live there, and all their sewage wastes go to the Arab's agriculture land...

They also uproot the olive trees which has been a source of life for Palestinians for centuries..

They are annexing more and more of the west bank...

The Jewish settlers there are cruel to their neighbours, and the jewish civilians are also armed....

The Pals have curfews in their own country, bottles and grenades are thrown at them..

Historically, morally, scientifically, Biblically and any other way, includung International law, Palestine was all of Israel, the West Bank and Gaza stripes and belonged to the Arabs starting with Ishmael's birth .During WW II, the British occupied(NOT owned) Palestine. Up to the British Mandate, Palestine was less than 5% Jewish. Before the British, the Otman Empire occupied Palestine. In 1922 an Arab spearheaded revolt drove them out.Illegal and legal Jewish immigration ballooned. These were mostly FOREIGN Jews with little or NO ties to the Middle East. The Arabs resented this encroachment on their land. The Jews formed murderous terrorist groups, two in particular, the Irgun(now Likud) and the Stern to attack Palestinians, kill them, and steal(no enumeration) their land, and continue doing so to this day.Under the Irgun, Israel was formed. The Israelis occupied the West Bank and gaza strips which they stole in the 1967 War, returning themto the Palestinians in WORD alone, in to 2005-but never fully pulled out.The West Bank(includes Arab East Jerusalem) and Gaza strips are now referred to as PalestineIsrael REFUSE to define its Southern border because it wants the West Bank(they term Judah including East Jerusalem) as part of the "promised land. The only reason they have not annexed it yet is because they would instantly become a Jewish country with a MAJORITY Arab population which they are attempting to reduce any way they can. The Israelis have attempted to unilaterally annex East Jerusalem several times, each time being vetoed by the UN as well as countries disagreeing outside the UN.

The Arabs of Canaan are the Arabs of Palestine. They were there AT LEAST EQUALLY as long as the Jews/Israelis, but they had a constant presence and a defined land. The Jews were nomadic and had NO land until what was taken from the Palestinians in 1948. Both Jews and Arabs have the same father, Abraham, whom although Semitic, possibly Hebrew, was not considered Jewish. Abraham, his parents, and his ancestry is from Babylon, which is, in fact, INSIDE the Arabian Peninsula, the origin of the Arab peoples. So he may very well have been Arab.

Palestine is a name which has been widely used since Roman times to refer to the region that includes contemporary Israel and the Palestinian territories, parts of Jordan, and parts of Lebanon and Syria. In its narrow meaning, it refers to the area within the boundaries of the former British Mandate of Palestine (1920-1948) west of the Jordan River.

Palestine can also refer to the Proposed Palestinian State.

The name and the borders of Palestine have varied throughout history, though Palestine has certain natural boundaries that justify its historical individuality. Other terms that have been used to refer to all or part of this area include Arabistan, Canaan, Greater Israel, Greater Syria, the Holy Land, Iudaea Province, Israel, "Israel HaShlema", Kingdom of Israel, Kingdom of Jerusalem, Land of Israel, Levant, Retenu (Ancient Egyptian), Southern Syria, and Syria Palestina.

Early archeological textual reference to the territory of Palestine is found in the Merneptah Stele, dated c. 1200 BCE, containing a recount of Egyptian king Merneptah's victories in the land of Canaan, mentioning place-names such as Gezer, Ashkelon and Yanoam, along with Israel, which is mentioned using a hieroglyphic determinative that indicates a nomad people, rather than a state.

The promise that is the basis of the term "promised land" is contained in Genesis 15:18-21 of the Hebrew Bible:

"On that day the LORD made a covenant with Abrham and said, "To your descendants I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates - the land of the Kenites, Kenizzites, Kadmonites, Hittites, Perizzites, Rephaites, Amorites, Canaanites, Girgashites and Jebusites."

The verse is said to describe what are known as "Borders of the Land" (Gevulot Ha-aretz). In Jewish tradition these borders define the maximum extent of the land promised to the descendants of Abraham through his son Isaac(2nd born-the Jewish lineage and Ishmael the 1st born and the Arab lineage) and grandson Jacob.Even according to Jewish customs, the oldest son, which is Ishmael, is entitled to the father's inheritance, but because Sarah despised Ishmael, she wanted Isaac to get the inheritance and had Abraham exhile Ishmael. Neither is Ishmael illegitimate but the legal son of his SECOND wife Hagar-Genesis 16: "And Sarah Abraham's wife took Hagar her maid the Egyptian, after Abraham had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abraham to be his WIFE(my emphasis).

The promise is made to Abraham and the descendants of his son Isaac, and Isaac's son Jacob, Abraham's grandson as they are all given promise that their descendants will be given a territory from the river of Egypt to the Euphrates river. No where does it say the Israelis/Jews OWNED the land, nor were they to take it from, and, kill the Palestinians. The Israelis/Jews were given a land ONLY to reside in as many Jews already had among the Palestinians.God clearly states whom the land belongs to-"the land of the Kenites, Kenizzites, Kadmonites, Hittites, Perizzites, Rephaites, Amorites, Canaanites, Girgashites and Jebusites." Of all these people, only the Palestinians whom are considered Canaanites, are still around. Except for Iran and Israel, Arabs own all of what was Canaan.

It is Israel whom is illegally occupying the West Bank and Gaza strips, illegally building Jewish ONLY settlements and buffer zones from land stolen from murdered INNOCENT civilian Palestinians using machine guns and tanks. It is not the Palestinians cutting off power, water, food, medicines, and jobs-just HOW would YOU protect yourself from annhilation by occupiers if your government couldn't?

BOTH SIDES MUST NOW STOP THE KILLING OF INNOCENTS AND RECOGNIZE EACH OTHER'S RIGHT TO EXIST. INSTEAD OF DIVIDING JERUSALEM, IT SHOULD BE SHARED AS A CAPITAL. ARABS AND JEWS ARE VERY CLOSLEY RELATED, SIGNIFIGANTLY MORE SO WITH THE ARAB PALESTINIANS.

Interestingly, in Revealations, the city on the hill(that's Israel) will be brought to her knees for her indiscretions, which now seems to be the Palestinian situation. The world is growing angry with Israel's treatment of INNOCENT CIVILIAN PALESTINIANS and theft of their land in the West Bank and Gaza strips. Let's end killings on BOTH sides before we have to deal with WWIII.

*According to Alexander Scholch, GERMAN JEW AND PROFESSIONAL HISTORIAN, the population of Palestine in 1850 had about 350,000 inhabitants, 30% of whom lived in 13 towns; roughly 85% were Muslims(Arabs), 11% were Christians and 4% Jews.Scholch, 1985, p. 503.

Short answer: it belongs to Israel but it's not part of Israel. It's part of the Palestinian Territories, i.e. West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
Long answer: Before 1967, it was part of Jordan. But anti Israeli people kept shooting into Israel from there, so Israel took it over, along with the Gaza Strip which belonged to Egypt and was doing the same thing.
Since then, Jordan and Egypt no longer want West Bank and Gaza Strip. They as well as the Israelis decided that they should form a Palestinian state, though they are separated on opposite sides of Israel.
The problem Is that the PLO has never been willing or able to stop militants from shooting at Israel. In fact, they take the position that Israel should never have been founded and should be overthrown. Israel has been unwilling to give up control of the lands to a party that wants Israel destroyed.

mir miron
It was part of Jordan, Israel won this piece of land in 67, during the peace talks with Jordan, Jordan didn't want it back, so legally it's Israels, Israel is willing to give most of this land to the Arabs living there, but they will have to agree to Israels conditions first, israel is now waiting for them to do that.
