Is it acceptable for Palestinians in Israel to use this category?

One would be curious to know their views.

Yes,obviously,if they live in Israel and many do. However I would tend to assume that most are too impoverished to own a computer. I'm absolutely astounded that Jews would find it objectionable. My first visit to this category and it has been very interesting. if they don't even think Israeli Palestinians have a right to post here no wonder human rights groups claim that Jews in Israeli have nothing but contempt for the idea that Palestinians should have any rights at all. Frankly,I'm revolted. And getting more radicalized all the time.

HopelessZ00
Some people accept it and some people don't. V what's with the anti-semetic card? And you know how many other questions have been posed about this very issue. Cheers!

Axle
I think it's totally acceptable and incorrigible. I believe that Y! Answers should off a Palestine section, and/or modify this section to read "Israel/Palestine. The lack of a Palestine section makes me wonder if Y! Answers has got a bias or something.

joeandhisguitar
Not only is it acceptable but I strongly encourage it. This feature of yahoo gives people(me anyway) a chance to interact with opposing views and test my skills of debate and my virtue of patience.

Why wouldn't it be??????
We, the regulars here, are from all over the place; Jews, Muslims, Xians, Americans, British, Palestinian, Israeli.....
So welcome to this section, have a seat, and enjoy!!!!!!!!!!

Mimi- ميمي - מימי
WHY NOT! We either have our own section or let us use the Israel section. We have the right of half of Israel based on the 1947 division and so we have the right to use this section as much as the Jews have the right. It is just called Israel because of what on the map is called Israel. There are palestinians living in Israel so Palestinians can use this section. Also Yahoo answers is a public website and we can use any category we want. Also don't forget this is the travel section. Maybe I will want to visit Israel one day although I never ask travel related questions.

It is certainly not acceptable for someone to post here who is unaware that there is a state called Israel in the modern world. To refer to it as "ersatz Israel" is an insult to the intelligence.

Now, with regard to your use of the word "Palestinians," the reason for the conflict between Israel and the Arabs is that the Arabs, plain and simple, refuse to accept a Jewish state in their midst. They invented this whole idea of a "Palestinian people who deserve a state" just to use as a tool to dismember Israel.

And Israeli Arabs are Israeli Arabs and not "Palestinians."

Arab violence against Jews has been going on long before there was an occupation, long before there was a refugee problem--indeed, long before any political Zionist movement. had come into being:

In the centuries after Muhammad there have been periods when the Jews were able to live in relative peace under Arabs, but their position was never secure. They were generally viewed with contempt by their Arab neighbors, and their survival was always predicated on their abject subordination and degradation to them. Mass murders of Jewish "protected people" started in Morocco as early as the eighth century, where Idris I wiped out whole communities. A century later Baghdad's Caliph al-Mutawakkil designated a yellow badge for Jews (setting a precedent that would be followed centuries later in Nazi Germany), and synagogues were destroyed throughout Mesopotamia in 854-859. In Tripolitania, Jews were considered the property of their Arab masters, who would bequeath the Jews to their heirs upon death. In the 12th century, after anti-Jewish riots, the contemporaries commented that their population had 'greatly declined.' ( Middle East Digest, September 1999)

The Arabs still think that they can destroy Israel and throw the Jews into the sea. They therefore have no incentive to arrive at a peace agreement. To solve the problem, the only way would be for Israel to defeat the Arabs overwhelmingly, and then dictate the terms for peace. Otherwise, the Arabs will never stop trying to destroy Israel.

Yes, a crushing defeat will being about peace. Weakness will just result in further wars initiated by the Arabs.

I asked the same question a few days ago and it was promptly deleted. How strange that yours has been there for a day.

Israel is a historical kingdom. Did you mean ersatz israel?

I would say that it is acceptable for Palestinian people to post within this category and indeed preferable.

Totally acceptable - and also enjoyable! Mimi in particular posts some wonderful things and we all have some great debates!

What is not right, and not fair, is when people like Maya and Bosco accuse Israelis wrongly of being 'racist' when anyone knows that Israel is by far more democratic and 'tolerant' than any Islamic state you care to mention.

Anyone living in Israel is qualified to answer questions pertaining to TRAVEL to ISRAEL.

Michael J
This is a complex talking point. Palestinians and their supporters are quite common here and I don't see a problem with that in theory. I don't degrudge them their views, and personally I am just as interested in what they have to say as you are. However, for every positive element there has been a negative element, as you can see for yourself from the answers to your very own question. I think there are some basic rules of propriety that all must follow, and in my experience particularly those who are against Israel.
The basic issue is the appropriateness and timing of expressing your opinion. First and foremost this is the Israel Travel section; I won't pretend that's what it is in practice, but since that is its purpose, Israel travel questions must come first.
IF A QUESTION IS ASKED ABOUT TRAVEL, VENTING ABOUT ISRAEL'S "ILLEGAL OCCUPATION" IS WRONG.
My reasoning is quite logical: this is supposed to be a forum for people unfamiliar to Israel, so that they may ask experienced individuals, either Israelis or those who have traveled here frequently for information. Most Palestinian politicists are neither of these two and should therefore keep there mouths shut, ESPECIALLY if all that they can eject is political commentary.
Now the Israel group has also become a debate ground for the Israeli-Palestinian and Israeli-Arab conflicts, and in these two areas I think all should be allowed to express their opinions as long as they are bound by simple restrictions (such as no hate speak). It is certainly a unique board, but perhaps Israel is simply a unique country. In my opinion, if a Palestinian or supporter wants to answer a question about either conflict, that is there right. If they want to ask a question, as long as it is polite I support that as well. But when they cannot keep their opinions to the appropriate outlets they cross the line and ruin the Israel section.
Anyway that's the way I see it: welcome for political debate, unwelcome for travel advice. To me, this is both simple and fair.
