According to the situation
if it regular eating out I'll pay
If it's a special occasion & my wife wanted to take me out for a nice dinner & she want's to pay, no problem
if it's a business lunch I'll pay & my co. will reimburse me
If I have friends visiting me I'll pay
if i's just regullar luch or dinner with friends every one will pay for his food

AA... Its not a matter of Gender Equality!!! But rather an issue of good manners and "etiquettes".

I'll pay every time of course... exactly the same way I'll open the door for her and let her go first.

Can you imagine a lady opening the car door for her boy friend/ husband/date under the pretext of gender equality.

I agree that the person who asked for the date should pay the bill. Sometimes though, when I was dating, I would let him pay the first time than I would pay the next time, and that would continue (he pays then I pay) until the end of the relationship.

growing up in England my mum always told me I have to pay my own way, but when i met my husband he likes to pay for everything, it took me a long time to accept it but its a nice feeling!

it would depend on the " expense " I would offer to pay 1/2 if I wanted to go to a very expensive place , but I know that would embarrass the man , so I would eat where I thought he could afford to take me.
