Killing innocent civilian population should be always recognized as a war crime and those who do execute these orders should be regarded as war criminals.
I do hear this word again and again: "collateral damages", but what does it mean exactly?
It means, that there are innocent people killed and this is the cheap excuse military give for it.
But how many people are aware of how many lives are destroyed and families broken apart?
We are talking about human beings, human dignity - about the destruction of a human life.
But of course, most people prefer to look away, because as far as their personal lives do not suffer any inconvenient they do not want to hear about things like that - as long as it’s not them who suffer from the consequences of such an "collateral damage".
This has to stop immediately; every single human life destroyed by such actions is a life too much.
I would wish that humans were as civilized as animals, because animals do not kill each other just for nothing… animals have more dignity than many humans.
Collateral damages = Killing the innocents!!
Killing the innocents = Murderers!!
And I do not give a damn for who is killing whom, because death does not distinguee between races, colours and religions.
My blood is red – your blood is red as well and I have my hopes and dreams and you have yours as well, I have a family I love and you have your loved ones as well, I want to create a better future for our children and so do you, I want to live free and without fear and I guess you would wish the same…
So killing is against all these principals and wasting blood of the innocents is the end of humanity in general… |

you will find many that try to justify it with speech. But in morality there is no justification. For militants attacks, or war is war, there is no justification to kill innocent civilians. Peace! |

Actually there are many examples where such action is justified throughout history. Even the Koran speaks of retalitory actions Mohammed and his followers took that were justified.

What else would you advise Israel to do in the face of relentless rocket attacks from the terrorists in Gaza?
Yesterday two young Israeli boys were left in critical condition from yet another rocket attack. One of them has lost his leg, I gather.
So what should Israel do - write a nice polite letter to Hamas and respectfully request that they stop being the vile, cowardly terrorists that they are?
What you are REALLY saying is that Israel should place the welfare of Palestinian civilians ABOVE the welfare of Israeli civilians.
Can you name me one country that would do that while being attacked by Palestinian terrorists? |

If you are providing refuge for the militants, and providing food for the militants, and providing places for militants to hide weapons, then you ARE a militant and you deserve the same fate as those who carried out the terrorist attacks.

Yes, I think so, it is justified. If rocket launching goes on and on, and it doesn't stop, than yes, in order to protect your children you must destroy the building(s) the rockets are being launched from. Period.
Oh, and if your children are ever attacked like that (and I don't care if Jews or Muslims attack them) I suggest you do the same.

I would never say never but the threshold in my opinion is certainly high.
The United States dropped two atomic bombs on Japan that killed tens of thousands of people though most historians justify the action by pointing to evidence saying that if that did not happen the war would have dragged on and far many more on both sides would have died.
In the case of Israel if destroying a neighborhood would result in a significant reduction of hostilities then over the long term it might be justified.
Fortunately I for one am glad I do not have to decide. |

It is not secret that the Palestinian militants have been and still are using innocent civilians (including children) as human shields. They bring them onto battlefields and everyone is surprised that a child has been killed in battle, when they should not have been in the vicinity in the first place.
This is unfortunately no different. The militants have been using neighbourhoods to fire rockets from and hide them. Israel always gives fair warning about buildings ans neighbourhoods being demolished, to lessen the loss of life - which I'm afraid the militants are not curteous enough to give when they bombard Israel with rockets every day. |

It is an extreme abuse of power for the Israeli military to murder innocent civilians in retaliation for the actions of these extremists and it is quite disturbing to see some of the responses that have been given above by ignorant, blood thirsty individuals. How would you feel if armed men came into your neighborhood and executed your family and friends because some nut job might be being harbored by one of your neighbors or even just because some equally intolerant, racist extremist from the other end of the spectrum would like to take revenge on anyone who looks or speaks or has the same religion as the perpetrator of an equally brutal crime. I wish I could put all of the hate filled racist scumbags like you and your counterparts which are all the sects of extremists all around this world and put them in one giant enclosed area and let you idiots kill each other without hurting the innocents who are dying everyday all over the world for your ignorance and hatred. By destroying these neighborhoods and by treating these people like lower life forms like they have been doing for 60 years, they are creating more terrorists.
If you were to shoot my children for throwing rocks at your tank I might strap a bomb to my *** and blow you up. On the reverse if you were to strap on a bomb and kill my friends and neighbors then I might join a ruthless military organization in hope of exacting some revenge and so the circle of hatred continues on and on. The fact that you are here 'trying to understand Israelis' is a perpetual puzzle to me. Does this imply that you 'understand' HAMAS? Do you understand the pals who support HAMAS?

Thanks---my 'heart' isn't converted, for your information, but I understand the (prejudiced) confusion. The only 'darkness' is the self-righteous hypocrisy in your post. You don't live in Israel or in Palestine so I can imagine the real angst you are going through. I am very sure that you are NOT, as you are reading this, sitting next to a Palestinian having tea in the old city disagreeing about who is better, Obama or McCain, so these issues are surely relevant to your everyday friggin' life. In the real world, all of that dribble you spout will get you slapped back to the Carter administration.
There is nothing but stubborn pride that keeps Kassams coming over haphazardly. It is not effective except for drawing exponential punishment. If you want to call self-defense murder then your family also raised a fool. Stop the d*mn rockets and get a leader that can negotiate (my answer).

I asked my palestinian friend this question and I am quoting: Jim-Khayo says it is not justified (to destroy a neighborhood). His opinion is "any military action (against Israel) is not justified and any military retaliation is not justified. The solution is free and clear negotiation on matters that concern both sides, without having biased negotiators". He says that you need a negotiator who cares about the welfare of both sides. Addendum: he also says that he does not feel Hamas will last long (we greatly disagree on this but I hope he is right and real leadership replaces it). |
