Yes it is safe. In fact Egypt is safer than most other countries. Egypt receives 11 million tourists every year and they enjoy it and come back. |

If it was not safe, there would not so many people traveling to it each year.
Crime is quite low. Egypt usually take great care of her visitors. Not only because that tourism is part of her bread and butter.. but that is the great personality of her people.
The most UNsafe thing would be running around there mid-day in high summer and getting heat sick! :D
The people in Egypt are generally helpful and relaxed with tourists.. worst any would try is charge you too much or stare at you if you are a pretty girl
You are much safer there than in most western countries. That's a F-A-C-T! Please DO come here and see the last standing Wonder of the World.. It is not that expensive.. airfare is the worst but all else is 5 times cheaper that an average European trip.
:D Please enjoy and bring a friend!

a statistic i found from a reliable source:
“Some 775,000 tourists from different world’s countries visited Egypt last February, up by 16% compared to February 2006, said chairman of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) Abu Bakr Al-Gendi. " |

Top five reasons why Egypt is safer than the USA:
1. Police here carry machine guns not .35's
2. If you get caught doing something wrong they believe whole heartedly in corporal punishment. Example: a rapist here might loose his balls and/or his life.
3. Foriegn passport holders are safer than most egyptians in egypt because of the business relationships between the countries. The departments of state don't want an "international issue"
4. Egypt has a special army for protecting tourists called the tourist police. They are the guys in the white uniforms that you will see everywhere.
5. Egypt doesn't allow average citizens to carry weapons. Not like the usa where any thug can get an AK. |

Of course it is, why wouldn't it be? In fact, its safer than being in America! I've went there three times and never felt unsafe.. the crime is very low and crimes that happen in America like murder and such are REALLY rare.
I have no idea why so many people think its soo dangerous to travel to Egypt, its extra safe there! Nothing dangerous really happens.. cmon! : I was there when Israel started that retarded war with Lebanon a few years back and it was really safe as well, being a bordering country and all.
Really, don't worry and enjoy your trip! There's nothing like a relaxing vacation to Masr~ <3 |

You will be fine if you go to Egypt
citizens of other countries have very good rights in Egypt
the only thing that might bother u are the vendors who try to sell stuff to u. They literally put stuff in ur hands nd refuse to take it back.. if they do that just put watever it is on the ground and walk away if ur not interested |

The only problem you'll encounter are the hordes of vendors following you around trying to get you to buy their crap. It is so overwhelmingly unbearable, you'll find yourself regretting you ever went. |

Women, particularly foreign women, are frequently subject to unpleasant male attention, sexual harassment, and verbal abuse. This often takes the form of staring, inappropriate remarks, catcalls, and touching. The Department publishes a booklet entitled Her Own Way: A Woman’s Guide to Safe and Successful Travel. Its prime objective is to inform Canadian women and encourage them to travel safely.
There are reports of female Canadian citizens being forced into marriage without their prior knowledge or consent. Parents, relatives and the community may use relentless pressure and emotional blackmail, threatening behaviour, abduction, imprisonment and physical violence to coerce young people to enter into marriage. While both men and women experience forced marriages, it is a form of violence most commonly perpetrated against women. They have been unable to return to Canada, and their passports and money have been retained by family members. Canada opposes the practice of forced marriage and urges all countries to respect their international human rights obligations relating to free and full consent to marriage. Forced marriage constitutes a human rights violation under several legal instruments, including international human rights law, to which Canada is a signatory.
If you are in Canada and you believe that you are being forced to travel overseas or to marry, you should contact provincial social welfare authorities and your local police. You may also contact the Emergency Operations Centre (tel.: 1-800-267-6788) or the nearest Canadian government office (see Section 5 above). |
