There's normally nothing wrong with the age difference. The noly problem will be where the ages are. At 15 she is a CHILD. In South Africa that is called statutory rape - she can't give consent. If she was 25 and the man was 33, there would be no problem. I don't believe love between two adults should be restricted to the age gap.
Coming back to your question. But, really, what do the two talk about. She might be physically well-developed but her mind on issues of life outside of the physical cannot be compatible with those of a 23 yr old man. Her mind has not been developed to a stage that the two can have a meaningfull lovers' conversation. The man will just steamroll the little child. It's most likely that the man has or should have completed higher learning education while this child is around grade 8/9.
The relationship is nothing but "chicken murder".
What is in for the man in that relationship - sex with a minor? That is wrong, and cannot be justified under any circumstances. |

No, it's not " right" , it's illegal and you would be considered a 'pedophile' and labled a sex offender or perhaps a sexual predator. You have to ask yourself what is wrong with you that you would want to be with someone that is 15 years old. That is a child. Your a man and should want to be with someone closer to your own age. In Western society, though, in 2007 it is generally frowned apon.
In the same society, a century ago, at the height of Victorian taboos, many girls got married at 15 (such as my own grandmother, a very respected woman during her life) - usually to older men (in their 20's). Maybe a century from now, it will be yet again a different scenario. Also other cultures believe differently.
Personally, like most answerers, I don't feel comfortable with the idea (although I won't judge you), but thinking about what I mentioned above, thinking scientifically, not culturally/morally: How do we find the universal truth to this one? |

I see nothing wrong with it if is consensual love. Now, sex is a different thing. I don't really agree with it, being that you are 8 years older. I am currently 5 years older then mine. We DON'T have sex and we are working out perfectly. I am happy and he is too. He has made me a better person. We agreed on no sex till marriage when he is 18, and I had to force that rule. I hope the best for you two. Just make sure it is all consensual. Otherwise, you could be in a world of legal agony. |

It's not the age *difference* that's the problem but the girl's age. That's illegal in most countries. They need to wait until she's above the age of consent, which is 16 in South Africa - not that long to wait, to avoid a hefty term in jail. |

It is very wrong, and here is why. A fifteen year old is not able to tell if he or she is being taken advantage of, because they don't have a well-rounded view of the world yet. That doesn't come until you are much older. In relationships, you have to be able to honestly assess the other persons reasons for being there, as well as your own. 15 year olds still need to find their own worth, and to realize their value to themselves and the world before they can really know why a person is with them. I really hope that makes sense to you, because it is really important. It can be very damaging to a person's self-esteem to find out all of this when it's too late. It's also against the law, and the 23 year old can go to jail for a long time. The 15 year old needs to care enough to let him go, and wait until she's older. |
