Yes, Israel is very safe,Visitors are always amazed at how safe they feel in Israel. The crime rate is far lower than almost every other western country. Even children walk freely in the streets at all hours. When asked how secure visitors felt in Israel, the unanimous response has been as follows (and this is a direct quote from one of our groups)...

"Never for one moment did we feel that there was any danger."

The State of Israel and Keshet go to great lengths to safeguard every visitor. You will feel it from the moment that you approach your flight, and through the entire trip.

Statistically, visiting Israel is safer than almost any other place in the western world, including the USA. This fear of visiting Israel is no more rational than fear of flying: the likelihood of an airline accident is less than 1 in 2 million, while the chances of dying in a car accident, according to the US Department of Transportation, is 1 in 7700.

Measured by square feet and population, according to FBI statistics - Israel is far safer than most major North American cities!

So, the response to the question "Is Israel a safe place to visit?" is, without hesitation yes, yes, YES!

Unfortunately, though, questioning safety is very common, especially since 9/11 (which you will remember happened in the US not Israel!). Based on sensationalized media coverage, many perceive Israel as a perpetual war zone. But Israel is not in a war in the conventional sense. No missiles, or scuds, or tanks in the streets. The Palestinian's are using a psychological weapon called: "Terror Attacks" They are called that because their MAIN goal is to spread terror and fear - if we give in to it, we will be aiding and abetting it

its safe... no need to worry about suicide bombings...
every place has its dangers, and israel may be known for being continuously at war... but to travel to the country is a most wonderous experience. i highly recommend the trip to Jerusalem for your mother. Israelis are very friendly and hospitable... they will welcome her with open arms.

It is safe to go to Jerusalem. After years of dealing with terrorists, they have a pretty good system in place. You can't go into any public place (And I mean ANY; synagogue, restaurant, mall, theatre, museum, kotel...) without going through a metal detector and security. There is a military presence everywhere (partly because everyone between 18 and 21 is military). If there is even a slight threat of a bomb, they close of the area in minutes, take care of it and go on with life.
Just make sure not to leave a bag somewhere, even for a second. Someone will call the IDF to report a "suspicious object" and their bomb-defusing robots will blow it up.

Yes, we are leaving for there Monday morning. Jerusalem is away from the bombing. Just no public buses. You have to go through airport security to go into a mall and they check you out before you can go into a regular store or restaurant.

Now, you might want to put it off, but usually it's peaceful and amazing. I went in September and I had A BLAST Jerusalem was the best.

Yes it is safe to go there. There is security in the tourist areas. Suicide bombers are now controlled thanks to the security barrier! Just tell her to watch out for bulldozers.. it's the new hip thing for these freedom fighters to play around with.

Anyways sorry for the rant. Not to worry, it is safe. If anything happened there now, you would hear about it in a second with all of the media coverage on Israel. To be safe, tell her to cab instead of take buses, just in case. And about the drivers, yes they are often bad drivers. But in general once you get to know them Israelis are extremely kind and not at all fake, unlike Americans.

It's reasonably safe, given the situation in that area of the world. You would probably be safer there than on the streets of most of our own metro areas. Just use your common sense and follow all rules and regs. You'll be fine. Have a good time.

no, what if a terrorist arab blows himself up...(sarcastically, i am Palestinian and very proud) this is a terrible question, yes it is safe. My thoughts about it...when was the last time an Israeli civilian/tourist in Israel/Palestine was killed by arabs.....that is self explanatory

it's safe if you are an arab. arabs dont tend to kill each other unless there are no Jews or Americans around. One of your answerers named pALESTINE asked whens the last time arab killed Israeli civilian or tourist? lol yesterday. also he said enjoy my country. lol Israel is his country. but i was kidding about not going because of terrorist. Israel is safe. She has learned over the years of terrorism how to protect herself. Attacks from arabs happen almost daily but are not usually focused on tourist. The blood of an Israeli is of much more importance to arabs.
