Egypt and Iraq are different countries many miles apart.
Its as safe as New York, London, or Madrid. Nowhere in the world is completly safe. There have been recent terroist attacks in Sharm , Minya etc But these are more connected with extremism within Egypt rather than Iraq per se.
When you get there you will find a high level of protection. Police on every street, bomb detectors in hotels, you get a police escort in certain places in Middle Egypt! etc Much much more security than in the USA for example.
Egyptian people dont hate Americans. They need your tourist bucks!
Everywhere has risks. Tommorrow I could be ran over by a donkey! You take your risks and get on with life :-)) |

NOT if you are American. You could possibly go and be realitively safe as long as you stay away from certain areas.
Non the less - if you're American - you are a target of Islamic terrorists, whether they actually get to you or not. |

Is it safe to travel to someplace like Aguascalientes, in Mexico - given what's happening in the US ?

Yes it's perfectly safe to visit Egypt, especially if you are a BRIT. Americans also, contrary to what some Americans think.
I have been coming here for seven years and have been living here for the last seven months.you do have to be very thick skin-ed because they can be a pain in the **** when it comes to hassling you. don't be frightened to tell them where to go.
There are tourist police on every street corner 24/7 and my wife and I feel safer walking the streets at 1am than we ever did in the UK. all the best from an expat living in LUXOR. |

yes but it would depend on what area you go, their are some certain touritst built places such as Sharm El Sheikh that should be fine.
i would say that iraq has no effect on Egypt. |

First,Iraq is quite a distance from Egypt. Secondly, think about the riots in Paris, tsunamis in Asia, hurricanes in
the u.s.a, bombs in London, murder in Cancun. Lastly, Egypt
is a wonderful country to visit; its history is phenomenal, the people are kind and beautiful, the weather is great, the resorts are some of the best in the world, and everyone should visit Egypt at least once in their lifetime. "Safe" is not a word to be used in any travel, anywhere; you just
have to be careful and use common sense, ANYWHERE you go.
Bon voyage! |

Totally safe to travel in Egypt, Cairo, Sharm or Alex. Cairo is a high secured area for tourists, no threat is available. moreover, Egypt is not at all related to what happens in Iraq. in order to be sure that you are safe, you need to organise your visit through a travel agent. |
