because of sharia rule that allow men to marrying women more than 1, maximum 4 women.
this is not an obligation though, but since many saudi arabian men are wealth and don't want to cheat in their country, they prefer to marry than 1 woman. |

Not at all.....it is permissible (by religious decree); However, there are very specific conditions under which it is applied and these conditions pertain to an era of the Prophet....they pertain especially to the old days of Persian battles and war;
many men would die in battle, leaving their wives,daughters or sisters without any means of protection or financial assistance....hence, men would marry them to help take care of them.
But it is by no means a must, nor sociological peer pressure or established for sexual or dominating pleasures (technically speaking).....it is a tradition becoming rarer with the times and even less socially acceptable..... |

it is not Saudis, it is all Muslims can do that. But there is a condition of enforcing equality amongst all women. It is an option and not a must. how this is applied really differs amongst countries. in The gulf region, this option is widely valid and used. in the Levant (Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine) it is almost nonexistent because nobody use this option and they stay with one woman. |

No, it's not a must. But according to their islamic law they can marry up to 4 wife. Some muslim in asian country can do that also, like Malaysia and Indonesia. |

No. Men don't marry more then two women now a days in Islam. I'm the second wife to my Saudi husband and I'm American born. His first wife is in Morocco but they aren't legally married in the eyes of Saudi law. Anyway men in Islam marry one woman only. Some marry two but you can only have more then one wife if you treat them fairly, are nice to all of them and can support them all. Otherwise you shouldn't take more then one wife. This is because there are more women then men in the world and the women need to be protected and provided for. |

No honey. They don't have to. It is not necessary. & since the question always points to the religion, no it is not required of them as Muslim men to marry 4 women. Altho that does not mean that they will abide exactly by what the Quran says.
The Quran says: "Marry woman of your choice in twos’ threes’ or fours’ but if ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly, (with them), then only one’ [Al-Qur’an 4:3]"
Which means men are allowed to marry upto 4 women. But if they can't be fair to them, they should marry only one.

you know.. It amazes me that this is the most talked about issue of Islam and SaudiArabia from foreigners.. They think we all have families of 4 wives or something...
Its just not done in the norm... it was allowed back in the prophets time 1400years ago when there were many wars going on and men were killed off leaving women with large families no means of support.. By allowing these women to be taken into already existing marriages helped them financially... Also there are loads of other reasons.. Some men are just more sexually inclinded than others.. Its far better for him to take a legal 2nd wife than to just fool around with some prostitute bringin home diseases and whatnots.. So he can legally have another women without breaking up the home with numerous affairs like some men of other faiths do... I dont understand why the west condemns this idea when a high percentage of their men fool around, affairs, adultery, etc and no one says anything of it, but they dog on us when our men choose to marry a 2nd wife.. which I said, is very very rare.. So to compare a very fraction of men here that do marry another to the western men who a large percentage do fool around.. which is best? God knows.. |

one of my mothers cousin was married 2 a saudi man n he is now 52yrs n planning 2 marry again,,,,,not only saudi mens.....thro all arabian country....coz in islam it is sead dat u can marry more then one i mean it is only allowed 2mens...

in the Quran it talks about how men are permitted to have up to 4 wives but they must do with them equally and justly but people always always try to ignore the next verse which says like they will never be able to b equal and fair with them no matter how much they strongly desire to do so. so i take this to mean that men should only hav one wife because they can never b fair and equal if they hav more than one to all of them. |
