sure, being jewish is a religion, being israeli is a nationality.
there are plenty of non-jewish israelis, and they have full civil rights, just like jewish israelis. speech, press, assembly, religion, equal employment, etc.
and obviously there are plenty of jews who are not israelis, like all the american jews.
but they are certainly related.
it's like saying if you're French, you can live outside of France, but France is still important to you, as a homeland. |

Not all israelies are jews, while all jews are israelies(some of them just at heart since they dont have a citizenship) |

Israeli is a national/citizen of Israel.
A Jew is someone who follows the Jewish religion.
An Israeli can be Jewish (most are) but also Muslim and Christian.
A Jew can be 'white', 'black', 'asian' or any other race too. |

A Jew is someone who is Jewish which is generally a religion. Although I do think the line is a bit blurred between religion and ethnicity.
An Israeli would be someone from Israel, regardless of religious affiliation. While they are probably a small minority, I'm sure there are some Christian or Muslim Israelis. |

To be Jewish is to be part of more than a religion; we are also a family, a people, and a 'nation', the nation that is the Jewish people. Way back, we were a nation without a land, which is one of the striking things about Jews.
But today, we also have a physical nation in the form of the Jewish state, Israel.
So for example: I am Jewish, but I was born in Britain and so my nationality is British, I'm a British Jew.
But I'm also part of the nation that is the Jewish people.
I'm not Israeli, though, because I wasn't born there. Some people are of course both Jewish and Israeli!
Around 30% of Israeli citizens are not Jewish. As Israel is a democracy, everyone is free to worship as they please :)
Hope that helps :) |

let us say it logically not every Jew is an Israeli and not every Israeli is a Jew. |

YES
Israeli means a nation.
Jew means a relgion follower.
Not all Jews are Israelis (example, those jews who are born in the west and lived their whole life in the west).
Not all Israelis are Jews (the atheists, muslims, and christians who live in Israel and have Israeli citizenships)

israeli's were born in israel. Jews as a nation call israel its homeland but that doesnt mean they are all born and raised there.
A Jew raised in New Jersey is an American Jew, who's religion consider's Israel it's national homeland.
I am Jewish, and hope to live in Israel someday, but I am not an Israeli.
In Hebrew the terms are somewhat more interchangeable though, but not in common parlance. |

An Israeli is from Israel. They may also be Jews. Jews practice Judaism as their religion, but not all Jews are from Israel. |

Yes, there is a difference, Israelis are those born and living in Israel and not all Israelis are Jews. |

Not all Jews are Israelis, and not all Israelis are Jewish, so of course there is a difference!
A Jew is someone who was born to a Jewish mother or converted to Judaism. An Israeli is someone who lives in Israel, regardless of her/his religion, ethnicity, or race. |

A Jew is Jewish. Judaism is a religion, like Catholic, Protestant, Muslim.
An Israeli lives in Israel. Most Israelis are Jewish but there are Israeli arabs who are muslims.
so Jewish= religion and Israeli=country. |

A Jewish person is usually religious and speaks the local language of where is living. A Israeli is from Israel and speaks Hebrew or may speak Arabic as well and doesn't really have to be religious. |

Yes, a Jew is a member of the Hebrew faith. An Israeli lives in Israel. There are Arabs and other ethnic groups who live in Israel and are not Jewish. |

Some will say yes, some no.
The Israel in the Bible refers to all Jewish People as a people, not any place or country, so from that perspective there is no difference. However, Israeli is now a nationality, not all Israelis are Jewish, not all Jews are Israeli. |

A Jew is a member of the Jewish faith, a religion.
An Israeli is a citizen of the country of Israel. |

No, a Jew has a right to Aliyah to Israel and an Israeli has a right to be Jewish. I don't see any difference in whether you are a Jew or Israeli. Israel is still our homeland, whether you are religious or not. |

israeli's are often jewish as it is where the UN put the jews after WW2 if im correct (in israel then there was a dispute between the israelites and palestinians)
but a jew can come from any part of the world |
|

negaduck
|
no. those words are interchangable. any person you meet who tells you they are a jew, you can call them israeli. you are welcome |
