Is there anything in your religion that you really DON'T agree with? |
If so, what is it, and does it cause problems?
Of course, this question is open to everyone. No spite or insults though! Additional Details INDRIGOG or whatever your name is; I don't appreciate your using this post to advertise that course. It really does not reflect well on the course that you, as an advocate of it, would do such a thing. |

Wow an interresting question.
My religion is Islam and her are the things I don' agree with.
- First, Islam is like an open club. Anybody can convert to Islam and if you don't want they make you hate you life by trying to convince you. I am saying that because I am not religious and a lot of muslims often try to make me more religeous and really bother me with their so called advice.
- Second, the over reaction of most Muslims when they get offended by somebody. Example of that their reaction to the Danish cartoons and I mean by that killing the journalist.
- The way the Quran is written makes anybody thing that a specific action should always be taken while the truth is that behind each Sura there is a story and it applies to only one situation not any other one. Many people muslims and non muslims miss interpret those Suras which results in weird actions. So, I don't like the ambigous way the Quran is written in. It could be more simple and there is no need for negative stories about people. I believe that the Quran came from G-d and I am not telling what G-d should have said but I wish it was written in a simpler way so at least poor Mimi whose first language is Arabic can understand it without needing someone to interrpret it for her.
- Fourth, the commandment of women having to wear Hijab. It makes no sense. There is no need for Hijab. FULL STOP.
- Fifth, the baning of Music. I love music and I can not live without it but whenever I listen to it, I feel guilty because I am doing something banned in my religion. The reasons why music is not allowed don't apply to me.
- Sixth, the death panelty of Muslims converting to another religion. People are free to believe whatever they want. If they get punished in life by being killed, what is left to G-d. It is like saying there is no need for G-d's punishment because we can punish that person here. And besides, no one is 100% sure which religion is the most true one. I would say it is Islam because I am Muslim and you would say it is Judaism because you are Jewish and we would disagree so simply let people believe whatever they want.
Peace
EDIT: wow, I notice mostly Muslims gave serious answer to the questions. Come on guys, truth doesn't hurt, it is your opinion at the end so don't be shy or too conservative. It is an open democratic forum.
Thank you Tabatha for asking |

That's a very interesting question. I believe that the Torah is divine and binding and that everything God does He does and comands is for a reason and for our benefit. So I can't say there is something I disagree with in my religion, more things I find hard to obay and understand.
I find it hard to deal with my part as a Jewish woman. It's sort of hard for me to figure out what God intended for women. I know some conception about women in Judaism have been influenced very much by society, and are not directly from God, but it's hard for me to distinguish between these and God's actual role for women.
I find myself, not realy questioning God, but more questioning my own conceptions of women's roles trying to sift through Western misconceptions and what I believe is the God's truth. |

We are not fit to question God. Are we mere men able to create a perfect religion?
You have a right to ask this, or any question, iff the motive is good.
We all need to value tolerance and respect.
Can't we all love each other, regardless of religious "pigeon holes"?
If religions have faults, those faults are our own. It need not reflect on the living God.
All praise to our perfect, loving Father/Mother God! |

I do not agree with those who interpret God laws to fit their political goals and they act as if they are doing God works. Those people can be found in every religion. No human can predicts God plans to when and where the judgment day. |

This question is certainly a sensitive one being as everyone has their opinion on what's right and what's wrong. There's nothing wrong in what you're asking though. But do expect some negetivity because this is a sensitive subject you are asking about.
There isn't anything in my religion that I don't agree with. Is there anything that you disagree with? Or is this question just for others for your own understanding of other people and what they believe in? Just wondering. :-)
Have a good day. |

To be honest, I have a problem with having to love every fellow Jew - when it includes some of the idiots, weirdos, pranksters, and politicians that we see and hear about every day, as well as those that seem to (over)populate this Answers section..... :)

Diana - too bad that you've accepted the anti-religious gobbledygook about marriage in Jewish law. I'm not going to get into a long-winded explanation here, but you owe it to your thinking self to get the full picture. Odds are, you would probably agree with it, once you understood what's involved more fully. |

I was born a Christian catholic because I'm Italian. Today I'm more of an agnostic who likes buddhism and taoism but at the same time I appreciate anything good that any religion can give.
Anyway about Christianity what I don't like is the obsession and the forcefulness of wanting to convert people of other religions and cultures to what they believe. This obsession has been the cause of massive genocides in the past like the extermination of the South American Indians and the killing of more than 9 millions people across Europe during the Inquisition for instance.
I also would like to se a pope that was not white for a change and women priests equal to men priests able to give the same rites. I absolute detest the celibacy of the clergy that has nothing to do with Jesus Christ but was out of the blue established by a pope in the 11th century and whose result may be the scandals of the pedofile priests. I don't like the infallibility of the pope since it has been proved wrong with the condemnation to prison of Galileo (it took the Vatican 300 years to admit that they were wrong!), and anyway there have been plenty of popes who have been murderers, sexually depraved, greedy, thiefs and anything but saintly.
I also don't like the obstinacy of the Church in not allowing mode of contraceptions that as we know has given cause to many children in Africa being born with Aids.
I could think of many others but all they sum up to a certain lack of umility in the Catholic Church or Christianity in general. To me real Christianity was the one practiced by people like St, Francis or Mother Teresa and full stop. |

I disagree with the death penalty which is allowed by all religions (Christianity, Judaism, and Islam) Because I find it to be Cruel and Inhumane.
Mimi this is not Islam you're talking about, you're talking about some Muslims. There's a difference, by doing this you're giving the false impression that these things you listed are encouraged by the islamic religion, which they're not. But if you hate all these things about islam then why don't you just convert to some other religion. |

I think every religion has its problems and every religion should be respected because they are all based in God (or at least it should be).
What I don't like is too see people acting so religious and been not a good person. I grew up in a catholic society where there were so many women acting so religious (going to mass every sunday and preaching all the time) and they will be the most awful person, gossiping about every one in the neighborhood and wishing bad things to others.
I also have met very religous Jewish people acting very dishonest and not paying their employees what they own.
So my point is, instead of people trying to be so religious they should focus in trying to be a better person and being good to others. I think that's what God would expect from each of us and not if we are going to the church or mosque or temple or sinagogue every weekend. |

I think it would be much more positive and beneficial to all concerned if the question were " Is there anything in your religion that you agree with and why?" I think that would bring about much more understanding and alot less negativity. In my religion it is 7aram=bad against God to put down any others belief. As all religions have the same general beliefs , of love , tolerance and respect. And this kind of question has brought out thumbs down, jokes which Allah o alam=God knows, all ought to be ashamed.
That was a nice star over in Lebanon section Tabatha! Keep it up, you're showing everybody who you are. And i almost believed you.
zk : do you care to show evidence as to how i have bashed israel unfairly? will be waiting
ignore that ZK i got confused sorry
Mimi, for me, its not the point of being shy, I studied Islam for 11 years before converting, and converted in 1998 of my own free will. I learned Islam=Peace, in depth, and there is nothing in my religion that I don't agree with. I only disagree with making war, and then blaming it on religion, and I'm very saddened at how there is just so much intolerance in this post towards other people and what they believe.Peace! |
