I agree, If I were planning to visit SA I would think twice after visiting this site. I think there are answerers who get a "kick" out of depressing and scaring people in this section. One tourist to scared to visit can later escalate to 100. If these people think in some weird way they are helping , they must have their head examined. In a small way they are also hurting the future of this country.

I have been participating in some of the political questions, but normally get "slam dunked" by the "realists" as they call themselves.

I will keep on visiting this thread and in my small way try to build up what these people break down.

This section represents no one particular thing.

The people here generally enjoy discussing all aspects of South Africa and at times issues outside too.

Most here enjoy seeing South Africa for what it is, and don't feel restricted in this virtual environment (as they may outside of this environment) to call it like it is.

If one prefers to look at the present and future of South Africa through rose coloured glasses or with half a cubic metre of sand covering ones head and ostrich feathers sticking out ones &rse then this may not be the forum for such a person.

Otherwise stick around and enjoy.

There is a little trick you must perform before you can understand what goes down in this site. Separate the term "South Africa" from the ANC,Communism,Corruption,Incompetency and Crime and what you will find is that those that are criticising do so out of concern and not "anti." Many remember South Africa as the only 1st World Country on the African Continent and watch in despair as it slides into a cesspit under the governance of a kleptomaniac bunch of terrorists who are unfit to do anything other than steal the wealth or proffer a Begging Bowl.
There is also a need to educate the backward who occasionally answer and assist them in evolving into the 21st Century but this is proving an impossible task.

Like they say, first impressions count....but should you just follow the crowd if those first impressions are not within your beliefs?.......the first time I came on this section of the forum, I also thought that most people here are anti-South Africa.....but through interaction I found that that is not the case....there are many here who believe in the bright future for this country......one thing that I think most do right is that they express their feelings, fears and hopes about the country....Ayiza is partly right that some are expats who have nothing positive to say.....but equally there are expats who say positive things about the country......

........on the other hand we would be a dead nation if we all agree on everything political in this country.......I would suggest that you should stick around and you'd see who are stirrers, haters and genuine concerned citizens of this country.....I've come to realise that some members here are just abrasive but have legitimate points......only because the put the points in a way that gives the impression that they are anti-SA doesn't necessarily mean that they are.......we differ a lot, but I believe most of us love South Africa....

This must be your first time around here. I'm level 5, been here for over a year. And I'm telling you this section is lovely compared to other sections. In sections like Religion & Spirituality, Cultures & Groups... the hate flows like a waterfall. I suggest you get experienced in what Y/a is. Then come back here, compared to the rest it will be peaceful here.

Stay around for a while; the political questions do seem to have an anti-SA slant, but there is a far lighter side to this section. I think there are more ppl for the country than agaisnt it on this forum.
There is one guy who is very antiSA but who doesnt even live here, never has. I leave you to figure it who it is.

I dont know where Ayiza got his 70% expats from. But then again he does say stuff that doesnt make too much sense.

There is a lot of bad news out there. A lot of people use this thread to share their frustrations. I must be honest I also get depressed when reading the answers, but hey reality in South Africa sucks !

Potential tourists should definitely visit this site!
If a tourist asks me online if South Africa is safe and if they can use the public transport and I tell them yes it's fine it's dangerous but you'll be OK, and that person gets killed or raped on a train. How will I live with myself? Didn't I have a part then in what happened to that tourist?

But if I tell them that it is really dangerous here, people get raped and killed all the time. Don't take public transport. Rent a car rather but be aware that you might still get hijacked and killed. If I paint a really dark picture to them and they still come, they will be really prepared for it. And if they still do come and something happens to them, at least I can say: I'm really sorry about what happened to you but I did warn you. At least I know I did my part and I have no hand in what happened to them in South Africa.

You're right.
This section is very personal. It comes in waves, sometimes it's very peaceful and serious and sometimes people here can get really nasty and insulting.

But most of us are nice guys. Welcome...

What do you want us to say that's positive right now - Zuma as president, no electricity, criminal politicians, crime out of control. This is not what we want, but this is what we get. We love our country, but we have to be realists.

You will soon see it is actually "typically South African". Alot of us are regulars on here, and we banter, argue, debate.

All have very strong opinions, and that is what you see now. Stick around, you'll soon see we are not that bad.

I had to leave South Africa due to crime. There is so much going on in that country, which is really depressing and which makes me really angry. But I love it. If I didn't love it, I wouldn't care about the bad news and I wouldn't get upset about it.

Welcome and don't worry, if you read all the responses you'll soon learn who is who, what and who to ignore and you will love it because most of the regulars is kind people, and some is absolute stars - and sometimes the not so kind is not even from SA

Yes this is an anti South Africa section.

70% of the answers are EXPAT South Africans with an AXE to grind.
So take their comments with a pinch of salt.
And some just have an identity crisis they don't know who they are and what they stand for which is sad.
