The reason is that the UN is not there to bring world peace, it is just there to benefit western countries( isreal is considered western) by makig them richer and letting them take over more land .

If the mosque is the holding place of rocket launchers and other weapons aimed at defenseless civilians, and often used to shoot at them, then the mosque is serving an unholy purpose, and its destruction is justified. It is the murderers who use the mosque for their purposes who have destroyed the sacredness of the mosque.
I'm pretty sure it is illegal to use a mosque as a military base to bomb defenseless civilians.

This year Malaysia has demolished a number of Hindu temples. it is not uncommon for Muslim countries to destroy places of worship of other religions (unless they are of the book).
Thus it is islam that adheres to the policy of not having to respect other religions and destroying their places of worship.

So while i am sorry to hear that a mosque was destroyed, i do think respect and tolerance is a 2 way street. Israel does allow Muslims to have control of the Temple Mount thus to say they have No respect is wrong.

In 67 Jordan destroyed all ancient synagogues. They destroyed one mosque in Gaza and weapons were found there. In addition, rockets were fired near the mosque. Bomb factory was found in West bank and reported by Fatah it was in mosque. If you look at one side of the story I don't blame you for hating Israel and the Jewish people.

If you are referring to Gaza, the Arab terrorists used schools, mosques and hospitals to store and fire weapons at the Israelis.

The Israelis used extreme caution and fired on very few if any of these public buildings, and only when they were being used by Hamas Muslim terrorists.

The Hamas and their associated terror groups set up their rocket launchers and mortars in the midst of residential areas, in mosques and schools, just daring the Israelis to attack them and cause civilian casualties.

In the eyes if the Islamist terror groups, it is a victory for them if Arabs are killed, and it is similarly a victory if they kill Jews.

Sort of a win-win situation for Islamist terrorists, who don't much care about inflicting civilian casualties on either side.

What about all the churches, Synagogues etc that get destroyed and vandalised regularly in Muslim countries. It does happen a lot and their governments do nothing at all. What about the people in those countries who face the death penalty for just converting their religion! Why is the UN saying nothing about that?

As for the original question: It is considered collective punishment or an act of terrorism to destroy places of worship. Israel routinely destroys Mosques in the West Bank, Gaza, and Lebanon. They always claim they were Hamas or Hezbollah bases but NGO investigations usually find no weapons or even any reason to believe they were bases at all.

There is ample photographic and video proof of weapons being stored at schools and mosques as well as them being used for military activity which IS against international law. If you ARE interested you would find the proof on your own. There is an abundance.

Being unable to criticize Arab leadership like Hamas when they blatantly exploit these types of facilities shows a lack of reason and a bias that goes beyond being pro-Palestinian.

Once you realize the situation is more complex than a poor pitiful weak side armed with nothing more than rocks vs. a giant monster of colonization, I will be happy to dialog with you. Until then you are on ignore.

It is illegal by God to destroy one's place of worship, sadly Israel never sees it that way. If you get time look up these mosques, they are a few only but you could search more. They were turned into cow sheds, made into synagogues, graffiti and a whole lot more. Cheers!

i dont know. you might want to ask that question to the likes of Iran or Iraq or Syria who have no problem destroying churches and synagogues, making it illegal to convert to another religion outside of islam and turning jews in to 2nd class citizens who cant sit in the parliament or practise their faith openly...

compare that to israel and jerusalem where monks and nuns can live openly in churches , and where muslims and arabs vote, are not forced to practise their faith in private, can wear hijab or any other clothing and even sit in the israeli government.

for goodness sake - when i lived in tel aviv there was a mosque right on the beach front you could see for miles - right in the middle of tel aviv...

Israel did not destroy any mosques.

It is 42 years since Israel regained sovereignty over the Old City of Jerusalem. On the border of the Jewish and Armenian-Christian Quarters is a functioning mosque. Next to that is an ancient church belonging to the Assyrian Orthodox Church, Arab Christians who were persecuted and driven out of Iraq. The muezzin's call to prayer and the church bells wake us up at dawn, but there's no use complaining, because their rights are guaranteed by Israel's religious tolerance.

In the middle of the Jewish Quarter, a few meters from the ruins of the Hurva Synagogue which the Arabs destroyed in 1948, stands a 15th century mosque. By the 18th century, the mosque had ceased functioning and fallen into disrepair since no Muslims lived in the vicinity.
