Jerusalem and why Islam claims it? |
Yes i know it was the place Mohammed ascended to heaven but why does Islam claim dominion over a city that historically was the root of two previous religions? Islam has two other holy cities, (not to mention scores of others in asia and africa!) isnt that enough and cant it just leave Jerusalem to the Christians and Jews? |

Yes i agree with you completely - and i am a muslim. There are no scores of places in asia and africa - there is only mecca and medina in KSA. but yes i do agree that Muslims should now recognise the first right of jews to Jerusalem. although personally i think a place holy to three religions should be turned into an international city under the surpervision of the UN. thus much more bloodshed and a repeat of such insane fights can be banished to the past. |

Jerusalem has mattered to Muslims only intermittently over the past 13 centuries, and when it has mattered, as it does today, it has done so because of politics. Conversely, when the utility of Jerusalem expires, the passions abate and its status declines.
Jerusalem is not the place to which Muslims pray, it is not once mentioned by name in the Qur'an or in prayers, and it is directly connected to no events in Muhammad's life. The city never became a cultural center and it never served as capital of a sovereign Muslim state.
HF
The Mosque was built in 679-82, the Qur'an was written in 650 A.D. or possibly earlier.
How was the Mosque mentioned in the Qur'an before it existed ?? |

Wow... you sure got your share of poetic stories from the local ummah, didn't you?
The fact is, Israel is merely the thorn in their side (albeit a difficult thorn to remove) in their quest for becoming the only authorized religion on earth. The ONLY way they can accomplish that goal is to claim total and complete ownership of The Jewish Holy Land, destroy all evidence of Judaism and Christianity and replace everything with Islam.
This is why they're doing so much work beneath the Temple Mount and tossing historical artifacts thousands of years old into dumps.
http://www.templeinstitute.org/moslem_destruction.htm
When Mohammad came up with the idea to create one religion to bring his tribes together, he got the idea by listening to the Christian lessons in the streets of Syria where the original Christians often preached. Unfortunately, the religion he created was based on a jealousy that dates back thousands of years to the time of Abraham and the jealousy of one servant girl over the fact that the covenant God had with Abraham was passed on to Isaac, not her son Ishmael.
But, Muhammad never actually visited Jerusalem and never said he did when describing his night journey. He said the journey was to "the farthest Mosque" and at that time there was no mosque in Jerusalem; the farthest mosque was in Medina. The Al Aqsa mosque wasn't even built until after Muhammad's death. So, the ONLY way Muslims could claim Jerusalem as another one of their holy sites is to claim that Abraham and all the other prophets were actually Muslims, not Hebrews/Jews and that the temples that were there before were actually Islamic mosques, even though they existed thousands of years before Islam did.
So this long standing war to gain total and complete control over Jerusalem is evidence that the intention from the beginning was to forcibly (not peacefully as they claim) replace Judaism with Islam. This is also proven in their claims that God lied about the "everlasting covenant" with Israel and gave them some "replacement covenant".
However, it's too bad Muhammad didn't pay a little closer attention to the lessons regarding Biblical prophecy when he was creating his religion of Islam because what they are doing is actually spelled out in great detail in the Bible. Unfortunately for them, the end result will not be what they've been taught. Prophecy has not been wrong about even the most minute detail in all of this so far and it will not be wrong about this. The sad thing is that they really believe they are doing all of this for God and that too was foretold in prophecy. |

islam claims jerusalem like they claim everything else. they invade a place by force, brutally kill the locals, destroy houses of worship, and then build mosques on the same place. then they say the land is "muslim land" and they want to kick everyone else out and control it.
and god forbid if someone else claims it back (as israel does), they whine that the land is stolen, when the muslims in fact stole it themselves. |

He ascended from Al Aqsa at a point in time when Al Aqsa mosque (Mazgen) was located near Medina not Jerusalem (there was no mosque in Jerusalem at that point in time). |

Why? Because they can! That's why.
Because you got so many politically correct Jews in Israel who are willing to sell their own soles in the name of "peace" aka "please don't hurt us". That's why.
Muslims claim whatever they want because we let them. |

Ok Jerusalem is believed to be the one place every single Prophet (Inc Adam, Moses and Jesus, peace be upon them all), has been to. Before descending to the heavens Muhammad (SAW) led prayer in Masjid Al Aqsa, and behind him every single Prophet prayed. So many roots of Prophets go there, and so it’s an important site for the 3 Abrahamic religions which are around today.
Masjid Al Aqsa and Masjid Al Haraam are the only 2 mosques mention in the Quran. The mosque in madinah, where the Prophet is buried is not mentioned. Masjid Al Aqsa was the 2nd mosque built on earth ever.
Al-Bukhari and other narrators of Hadith reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) was asked: “Which mosque was built first on earth?” The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied: “The Sacred Mosque (in Mecca).” He was asked again: “Then which mosque comes next?” He replied: “Al-Aqsa Mosque.” He was then asked: “How long was the period between their construction?” He replied: “Forty years.”
So it had religious significance for so long before even Judaism began. It is considered the third holiest place in Islam. And if they are 3 places to make pilgrimage to, it should be Makkah, Madinah and Jerusalem. Wearing Ihram from Jerusalem has a great reward. (Ihram is the dress muslims wear before pilgrimage to makka, for either Umrah of Hajj). Masjid Al Aqsa was also the first Qibla (direction of prayer), when Islam began.
The city of Jerusalem, is considered the utmost importance in Islam. Jesus or Isa (Peace be upon him) is considered a highly regarded person in Islam, it was the place where he was born. Moses (Peace be upon him) is again considered very important prophet of God.
Theresa:
You know how you’re talking about Muhammad (SAW)? How would you like it if an atheist talked about Moses (Peace be upon him) like that? They were religions prior to Judaism and many people may claim that what Moses said was just based on religions which existed before him.
“The Al Aqsa mosque wasn't even built until after Muhammad's death.”
Yeah but the land was sacred right? The original mosque may have been built years and years ago, but the land where it was would still remain the grounds of the mosque.
“So, the ONLY way Muslims could claim Jerusalem as another one of their holy sites is to claim that Abraham and all the other prophets were actually Muslims”
Look, Islam believes there were a lot of prophets before Muhammad (SAW). They all preached the same thing, but the messages got distorted and books corrupted. So another Prophet was sent down. So yes Muslims do believe that the original followers of a certain religion were right. And so past prophets did preach the right things, and so in some sense they were Muslims.
Shay P
“it is not once mentioned by name in the Qur'an"
Masjid Al Aqsa is and so the land surrounding it is also mentioned in that context. Plus when Islam started it was where muslims prayed towards. So yes.. very unimportant right? |

Jerusalem and Israel is the soil that Jesus walked, however to Christians it is only history, the new testament teaches that the holy temple is no longer in one place, but within your self were ever you are. So this will not apply to Christians. It teaches Jesus is the ark of the covenant and the holy temple is the body. The teachings of the new testament would not support the war in Israel. To the Christians the land is was for the purpose of the scriptures being fulfilled, but to the Jew Zionist it is a must to have it, because the religions centers around Israel, but to Christians it is only a land of blood shed, and the center of the earth that will lead to the war of Armageddon and the Antichrist. Islam it a sect that broke off from the Jews, so that is why they would see it as a holy land. |

do we not have the right to visit a most sacred mosque, the mosque that was our qiblah? that place means everything to us, it is where we are to be assembled on the day of judgement, it represents the city where our beloved prophet isa lived, numerous things. it just so happens that history is on our side and because of Allahs will Sala hudeen won Jerusalem back without bloodshed.
Now for 700 years in palestine, muslims christians and jews lived peacefully (read the book peace be upon you- its unbiased and uses simple language and is very interesting http://www.amazon.com/Peace-Upon-You-Centuries-Coexistence/dp/1400043689 )
Then the british decided to intervene like always and were bribed by the jews to make their own state..Lmao its seriously retarded, the creation of israel. and now they are trying to defend themselves as if they are as legit as any other country. Notice how real territory changes of countries did not occur after the middle ages, yet isreal claims land after world war 2..centuries later..
not a jew hater, 1 because they are people and deserve their own homes and shelters, and 2 because real jews believe that the creation of israel was a serious offense to the real jews and that israel has no right to represent the jews.
i still dont get how just a few thousand people took control of muslim lands that easily. Are we that dis unified? i mean come on, 1.5 million people live in gaza alone..we shouldve stopped israel diplomatically in its early stages, that would've saved a lot of innocent lives. puff 1300 people dead vs 13 on the other side..do isrealies really think that 1 isreali is worth 100 palestinians? |

The Temple Mount is too holy for Jews to approach. Thats why you need Muslims to operate it. |

Jerusalem is holy place for all of the Abrahamic religions,Muslims respect this place because Muslims used to offer prayer by facing Al Aqsa mosque before the Holy Kaaba.
Jerusalem was under the control of Muslims for 7 centuries,Jews,Christians and Muslims lived with each other without any hatred, they lived in peace and harmony but when jews occupied Palestine they killed a lot of people and so the inter-religious harmony was destroyed, this was on the part of Zionists, they destroyed the peace not the muslims. |

The problem cause back to moses when ordered the Jews to enter Jerusalem and the Jews refused , though in the Torrah, Bible and the Qura'n God seperated them all over the world in diffrent places the Jews didnt follow what GOD told them to so it said that if they come back to the holy land they will not see paradise and GOD will not forgive them thats why alot of Jews around the world refuse to go back to Jeruselem because of what GOD ordered them to do in way that they either should be muslims or stay away, the Quran relates everything the Jews did to make GOD engry and the christians who went astray but this land is for all 3 abrahamic faithes regardless of what people did to corrupt the truth , GOD IS POWERFULL |
|

loving it doing it

it doesn't CLAIM DOMINATION it sais that it's within the territories and the christians lived with peace untill now and the jews don't have a place in palestine just go BACK TO WHATEVER EUROPEAN OR AMERICAN HOLE YOU CAME FROM |
