Tel Aviv is the only recognize capital of the state of Israel.
Jerusalem is the capital of future Palestinian state and most nations are willing to recognize it as soon as the Palestinians declare their state like kosove. |

It is the capital of Palestine as it has been for more than a thousand years. What we are seeing today is a mere interregnum, rather like the Christian State established there at the time of the crusades; it lasted a little over a hundred years. |

Well, since according to the Torah the Jews are not allowed to rule the holy land until THEIR massiah(which is not Jesus) comes that means that they should not be allowed to have a country called Israel. So that would mean that Jerusalem is the capital of Palestine. |

East Jerusalem should be the capital of Palestine and West Jerusalem should be the capital of Israel w/ a UN buffer zone in between the two. Perhaps, they would be close enough to actually talk to one another instead of killing one another. |

Eventually, the capital of both. |

In my humble opinion, this problem is over that simple question. It's a problem which created war and dead people.Even Christian want part of Jerusalem. So why ? in 1948 United Nation (Society of Nation maybe at that time) have not seen this problem ? Why they did not said ,ok we created Israel but Jerusalem will be an international open town, under registry of the United Nation ?. Period !! I believe at that time it was possible, and i'm afraid now it's to late. |

Western (or Modern Jerusalem) has been the capital of Israel since 1948. That is history - that is not a debate. As to the old city neither the Israelis or the Palestinians have every used it as their capital. Sp there really isn't any debate on this matter if you just look at the facts.
Good Luck!!! |

To approach things completely fairly, it must be conceded that at most Jerusalem will someday be the capital of Palestine (in dispute), meaning that currently, as there is no Palestine, Jerusalem cannot be its capital. This is not some pro-Israel statement, but a recounting of fact: a Palestinian state has yet to come into existence, thus it cannot currently have a capital, let alone Jerusalem. This means that for now at least, the debate is only whether or not Jerusalem is the capital of Israel.
Western Jerusalem is a recognized part of Israel and has been the capital since 1948. This means that the debate reduces to whether or not East Jerusalem is Israeli or not.
For all we may debate it now, the true answer will only be defined under a final status agreement.
Personally, if the decision were in my hands, I would not relinquish control of East Jerusalem to the Palestinians at all. Jerusalem is the undivided capital of Israel, and I would endevour to preserve that. |

Never was a capitol of anything but Israel, Zion, Judea.
It will not be a capitol of any other.
The people the world call palestinians never existed before in history. In fact, Israel was called palestine by the Romans who conquered, because the word Israel has the word 'el' as part of it, which means "God". The implications of that reality are very telling, but not getting into that. |

Jerusalem has been the capital of Israel for over 3,000 years, and it is mentioned in the Jewish Bible HUNDREDS of times! |

Tel Aviv is the capital of Israel. Currently, Jerusalem is considered Israeli territory as the Palestinians don't actually have a territory. They do not have a state, but to my understanding are considered a people but not a state. Their land that they live on is administered by Israel but is governed by the Palestinian Authority.
Hamas is considered among diplomatic circles as occupying the Gaza Strip, but not actual owners of the Gaza Strip (which I believe still belongs to Israel).
All plans for peace in the area usually want Jerusalem as the capital of a Palestinian state, but that country has not actually been formed yet and so Jerusalem continues to belong to Israel. |

No statehood, no leadership other than rebels, no economy. I'd say you probably need a job worse than a Capitol if you actually live there. |

Jerusalem is the capital of Israel because on maps it's outside the border of the Palestinian Territories. If you're referring to the old name of Israel it's Palestine but most people today call it Israel |

How can 'Palestine' have a capital when it was never a COUNTRY?
Palestine was A REGION. It was called Judea, until the Romans conquered it, and renamed it to sever the link between the Jews and the land. The Romans renamed it 'Palestina' after the Philistines, who had long since vanished.
Check your history books. You will see that Jews were living in Jerusalem before Islam even EXISTED. |

I'd definiteley say Israel. It's in the Israeli border not the palestinian borders. There short and sweet. |
