Jews? are the Palestinians the Philistines? |
What do you think of this?
Zechariah 9: 5- 6
"Ashkelon shall see it, and fear, Gaza also, and shall be sore pained, and Ekron, for her expectation shall be ashamed; and the king shall perish from Gaza, and Ashkelon shall not be inhabited
And a bastard shall dwell in Ashdod, and I will cut off the pride of the Philistines."
Ashkelon is also a victim of rockets and Gaza has no true leader and no pride.
So are they the Philistines?
If they are this is kinda freeky. |

The term "Palestinians" itself a masterful twisting of history. To portray themselves as indigenous, Arab settlers adopted the name of an ancient Mediterranean tribe, the Philistines ("Invaders" in Hebrew), that disappeared over almost 3000 years ago. The connection between this tribe and modern day Arabs is nil. The Romans, in order to conceal their shame and anger with rebellious regions, changed the references to Judea and Samaria by naming them Palestine.

No they are not the Philistines. The Philistines were Greeks, not Arabs. And the Philistines left Gaza for Egypt thousands of years ago. |

The Philistines were non-Semitic people who invaded Israel, and the Palestinians are Arabs, no different than Jordanians or Egyptians or Syrians, so I guess the answer to your question is NO.... |

the philistines, biblically were the plishtim and they were a seafaring group which disappeared in(if I recall) the 3rd century CE. the current arab population uses the wrd that the romans dubbed the entire region. they are not a distinct people or a separate group with some ancient name -- just locals who took the regional label and have tried to manufacture an identity out of it. if your question is about the current (lower case p) philistines, that is the English use fo the adjective "philistine" then maybe you are on to something. |

No, the Philistines in the bible were a Phoenician people. Modern day "Palestinians" are Semitic. |

Historically many of the Philistines settled in North Africa and in Europe. They had connections to various places in Anatolia (Turkey), and linguistics indicate that the Philistines also had links to the region of Illyria (on the Yugoslavian coast). Cultural features confirm a presence of theirs at the head of the Adriatic. Don Isaac Abarbanel (1437-1508), who once served as State Advisor to the Republic of Venice, said that he found in old books the belief that from the Philistines emerged the peoples of Venice and Genoa. Both these Italian ports were once independent powerful sea-going merchant states. The Romans (e.g. Strabo) also believed that the Venetians came from the Eneti in northeast Anatolia (modern Turkey) who fled from the Assyrians -- and some scholars see a linkage between that area (Cappadocia) of Anatolia and between the Philistines. The Septuagint in about 300 b.c.e. also identified the Philistines as of Cappadocian origin.
The so-called Palestinian people are the descendants of a mixed populace of local inhabitants together with numerous other groups of Muslims brought to Palestine from Bosnia, the Balkans, and the Caucasus by the Turks, and from the Sudan, Egypt, Syria, and Lebanon by the British. Those who came to Palestine in the time of the British Mandate were, however, brought over only partly due to the anti-Zionist, religious, and ideological motivation of some British officials -- and mainly because of administrative and economical necessity. Jewish Zionists and capitalists were amongst their major employers (often at the expense of the Jewish Proletariat) and struggles were fought over this issue. |

I think that trying to prove arguments about ownership using ancient history is absurd & irrelevant !
I am an Australian ....migrated here as a child had no previous entitlement of ownership. I havn't displaced anyone , have not been a liability to the government & am a loyal & patriotic citizen. The descendants of the original inhabitants of our nation have the same rights & freedoms as migrants but unfortunately don't take advantage of the opportunities that would assist them to a fairer portion of our wealth.
The Palestinian people can in many ways be compared to our aboriginies yet did they or are they receiving the same rights & opportunities as citizens of the modern state of Israel ?
How about concentrating your mind on justice & equity & stop trying to justify past injustices by using history ! |

A bastard shall dwell in Ashdod, a bastard is an child without known parentage, or a stone made of ash(burnt sacrifice) made in the shape of a dod(or DD (ded), or someone in an unclean garment. Gaza will lose it comfort, sore pained can only mean physical pain in the manner of a sore(sores can be painful), ? Stn(stinian) a stine is a ? full vessel of any sort? or an unclean,(in ancient culture, full vessels could only be used to water crops, feed flocks and herds, water feed flocks and herds, water(wu) was used in small fraction to preserve water and not attract locusts and bugs that would disturb the waters. etc. a bastard can be an unclean word or deed, ie,. as not having a genetic relation to G_D, as the recording of a ztht in error, or one who protects an evil(or covers an evil), Ash kelon is reference a burnt kelon, (trnsm, a kelon full of ash, (a kelon is unclean if ashed, and evil if the ash is unclean.) To the person who mentioned the return of the ark of the covenant, didn't happen that way I've heard, another vessel was substituted for it, although it's still possible to find in theory, It would require where to look seek for it, ps.? is an arc a boat?extra note, water craft is a broad spectrum, a boat (a vessel for carrying) is either keeled or winged, for carrying, either transporting or gathering. If the boat is wood it is a platform, if it is metal it is decindered, if it carries ash(burnt offerings) it is a servant(either good or evil). if it is submersible it is a bore, if it is an aero float, it is another yet an other type. |

The Palestinians: No, they are not any ancient people, but they claim to be. They were born in a single day, after a war that lasted six days in 1967. If they were true Canaanites, they would speak Hebrew and demand from Syria to give them back their occupied homeland in Lebanon, but they are not.
If they were Philistines, they would claim back the Isle of Crete from Greece and would recognize that they have nothing to do with the Land of Israel, and would ask excuses to Israel for having stolen the Ark of the Covenant. |

It is from the term "Philistines" that the name "Palestinians" has been taken. Actually, the ancient Philistines and modern Palestinians have something in common: both are invaders from other lands! That is precisely the meaning of their name that is not an ethnic denomination but an adjective applied to them: Peleshet, from the verb "pelesh," "dividers," "penetrators" or "invaders." The Philistines were a confederation of non-Semitic peoples coming from Crete, the Aegean Islands and Asia Minor, also known as "Sea Peoples." The main tribes were Tzekelesh, Shardana, Akhaiusha, Danauna, Tzakara, Masa or Meshwesh, Lukki, Dardana, Tursha, Keshesh or Karkisha, Labu and Irven. The original homeland of the group that ruled the Philistine federation, namely the "Pelesati," was the island of Crete.
Bottom line: There once was a place called Palestine. There never was a Palestinian People.

No. They are not the same people the Arabs already admitted they fabricated the story:
"The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel..." PLO Executive Committee member Zuhayr Muhsin, March 31, 1977, interview with the Dutch newspaper Trouw.
Regarding scripture, my version varies from yours:
Zechariah 9:5 "Ashkelon shall see and fear, and Gaza-and she shall quake violently-and Ekron, for the one to whom she looked was ashamed. And a king was lost from Gaza, and Ashkelon shall not be inhabited."
9:6. "And the strangers shall dwell in Ashdod, and I will cut off the pride of the Philistines."
9:7. "And I will remove his blood from his mouth, and his detestable things from between his teeth. And it, too, shall remain to our God: and it shall be like a studyhall in Judah; and Ekron, like Jebusi."
========
my interpretation:
9:5 At that time Ashkelon was part of Philistine so G-d made Ashkelon barren (uninhabited, that just means barren from them it is okay for us.)
9:6 G-d made Ashdod Israelite.
9:7 Ekron was the place where the Philistines surrendered our Ark back to us for fear of our G-d. G-d smited them because they were sacrificing our blood (causing our bloodshed) to their god. Sounds familiar doesn't it? (See following scripture.)
1 Samuel: 5:10." And they sent away the Ark of G-d to Ekron, and it was that when the Ark of G-d came to Ekron, that the Ekronites cried out, saying, "They have brought around the Ark of the G-d of Israel to me to kill me and my people."
5:11. "And they sent and gathered all the lords of the Philistines, and they said, "Send away the Ark of the G-d of Israel, and let it return to its place, so that it will not kill me and my people," for there was a panic of death in the entire city; the hand of G-d was very heavy there."
=============
Basically they lost land in war, stole our Ark then realized our G-d was killing them, gave the Ark back. They went home, made a guilt sacrifice, and tried to come after Israel again. David killed Goliath (and the rest of them) then made Jerusalem. G-d made the Philistines extinct because they didn't learn their lesson.
It's ironic the "Palestinians" chose this route to go. They had an example in scripture of how NOT to be and they decided to take the same fate as the Philistines including faking the name.
History repeats itself. |
|

So you think you can dance too?
|
9:5 "Ashkelon shall see it, and fear" ; "Gaza also shall see" it, and "be very sorrowful", and "Ekron; for her expectation shall be ashamed"; and "the king shall perish from Gaza", and "Ashkelon shall not be inhabited".
9:6 And" a bastard shall dwell in Ashdod", and "I will cut off the pride of the Philistines"
The so called prophet of you put the following warning and threats in 9.5 and 9.6:
"Ashkelon shall see it, and fear"
"Gaza also shall see"
"be very sorrowful"
"Ekron; for her expectation shall be ashamed"
"the king shall perish from Gaza",
"Ashkelon shall not be inhabited".
" a bastard shall dwell in Ashdod"
"I will cut off the pride of the Philistines"
And if you take those threats out of context, you will end with:
9:5 and and and
9:6 and and and
These are not heavenly. It is of a sick ancient stupid human who hated the Philistine
Do not rely on them.
I do not rely on any of those sick earthly words to decide for me . And I shall not let a stupid ancient ignorant person deceive me and decide what I do,
No wonder religious Jews are sick minded and full of hatred . |

Palestine is an ancient Greek word.
Means Palea-Estia (old homeland)
The Arabs do not have the "P" word in their alphabet, hence that misspelling with "Ph" 'stead of "P".
Wake up don't listen what the jew government is trying to feed you.
It's pure racist propaganda. Of the worst kind.

Okay let's forget about the Palestinians for a minute, what the hell are the Israelis? what do they have in common?? The majority of Israelis are atheists, so it's not religion, and it not ethnicity either- they all come from different backgrounds (European, Iranian, Arab, Russian, African etc.) I'm not saying Israel doesn't have the right to exist, but the Palestinians exist, get over it~! |

The Palestinians are Arabs with Greek origin, since thousands of years ago, (long before the Jewish history) Palestine was a Greek port in Middle East.
I agree on the "P" letter theory.
The Arabs have no P letter in their language, hence the "F" letter.

The Philistines were truly bad people. Very aggressive and deadly. Remember Goliath and his brothers. Giants.
They had to be wiped out or Israel would never have been at peace.
The rag tag Pals are no resemblance of them. |

Are the Israelis the old Semitic Jews. The answer is no.
The Palestinians are made of many mixed races Greeks, Arabs and Jews and others.
The Palestinians are more representative of the history of the holy land than the new Zionist colonists who came from other many cultures. |

In 2008 in the English language we call them Palestinians, in their own language they refer to themselves as falasteeni, in the end that's all that matters. Move on. Staying stuck in the past, only means holding on to hate. Cheers! |
