I've spent time in Muslim countries, and I can assure you this isn't something that I've ever seen as a common practise. I never had the slightest observation of anybody being reluctant to look me straight in the face, walking down a street, or anywhere else. |

Well I have to tell you the stare factor is really great here in Cairo. I look and I don't look with lust or being judgemental, I just wonder where ever are people going to and what they must face in life.
Only once did I look and met anothers gaze and it stirred emotions in me. Like they say love at first site. Thankfully it was in passing and its like a sweet love story that never happened.
I go on living and doing my daily things without concerning myself on every small detail. There are more important issues pressing on me at times. So I read alot to gain more knowledge and inspiration. |

it depends!
if i like what i see then 1 (for a very short time, unnoticed, just to have an idea, i get embarrased if she caught me looking at her)
if i don't like what i see then 1 (to say Sub7an Allah, laho fe khalkeh sh2oon, kol foola msawesa we leeha kayal a3war) |

Franckly, i have alwayes been keen on lowering my gaze but not anymore!, but i'd like to tell you that it really makes a difference like it helps you focus on other thoughts and you become less distracted .. thanks for reminding us perhaps i can return back to this attitude :) |

whenever i see a guy that is good looking or even a girl, i say "mashaa Allah" , and see how Allah created beauty in people, and thank Him on making us beautiful.......... then forget about it :D |

I am 4
Most of the times I look at a lady it will be a look at a human being free of any other intentions, especially in my business.
In the street and common place I just look away from any lady.
I am living in a place where females are plenty, I am very careful to avoid gazing for immoral purposes, may Allah forgive me for any deviation.
We might cheat people but we cannot cheat on Alla, Ennama Al A3malo Binniyat and Allah is aware of what in our souls.
I hope that many of use will correct their actions and adhere to Islam instructions in light with your interesting and valuable question. Jazaki Allah 7'eir. |

we can all be number one if & ONLY IF
Girls stoped being stupid to imitate the western girls (non muslims) in their dressing style
ya banat etakoo Allah, how will boys & even Men will be able to lower trheir gaze if you didn't help them
I'm dreaming of a wolrd where all girls wear Muslim dresses & boys can't find any thing to look at. |

Yes, alhamdulilah I do and hope all Muslim women get more modest and Muslim men be more patient enough to do so. Actually this is one of the most critical issues now for Muslims. |

There's a Muslim community here in Manila, and this has never been the case. They're just like anyone else on the street, except the women use those lovely, colorful veils. As for the women in burqas, their eyes are veiled to begin with, so I don't think there's any need to avert their gaze, and they don't bow either.
I think you may be refering to a different sect. ^_^;;; |

i want to tell you that when i walk in the street...i dont raise my sight at all...that my mother says that you appear so shy....and make people notice you....you know it has become a problem for me...that i walk looking almost all the time at the ground...lol |

I do and most of the time I succeed. I can say 97% of my trials succeed. Not only in Ramadan but I learned and trained myself starting from Ramadan long time ago.
Very good that you mentioned that also women are requested to do it too.
I ask ladies also to choose what to wear according to Islamic rules. Not transparent, not showing details and not tight.
I ask vieled and non vieled ladies to do that. |

I'm glad that someone addressed this important issue. Jazaki Allah Khairan. Not only should one lower their gaze in the street, mall, or public places, but also on the internet, TV, and basically anywhere, everywhere, and at all times.. Three years ago (when I was only 11), as I was coming out of the mosque during the last days of Ramadan, a young Muslim man was walking towards the mosque and as he walked he lowered his head and looked at the ground, he was wearing a white jilbaab and he was wearing the Saudi Arabian head thing (sorry I don't know what it's called), it was as if he were surrounded by light, there was a glow on his face and I still remember this beautiful sight till this day! It serves as a reminder to me to always lower my gaze, it is also a good modest action that one should always remember to do. |

My dear sister, I bet you posted this question after reciting some Qur'an. Well, I am guilty as charged but I try very hard to stop this behavior. Anyway, I look only at girls who expose themselves in a rude manner, but when it comes to girls wearing Hijab, that's a red line for me. |

It's the 20th century things are changing . God has given us eyes we see everything. Lowering ones gaze is becomming something of the past. |
