Palestinians and Lebanese aren't really Arab.?

They are white, look at their skin. "Palestine" and "Lebanon" is really Europe because Arabs are dark skinned.

Palestinians and Lebanese are Arabs. Their historical names are (Canaanites: Palestinians) and (Phoenicians: Lebanese). Arabs are more than 350 million people so it’s impossible for them to have the same looks or skin color. Maybe some of them have whiter skins than these skins which Arabs in Egypt have because the climate (sun) is different. Their skins can also become quite fair if they reduced their exposure to the sun. Moreover, they are not a pure ethnic group, because they mixed with other ethnic groups through history especially from Europe.

Most people the world over now are a mixture of races. The only way to tell how "pure" an Arab you are is to do a dna test. National Geographic has a project where they are studying the races of people by having them swab the inside of their mouths and sending it in. There have been some real surpirses like: African Americans (black American citizens) having more in common genetically with white Americans than they do with indiginous African people. This is because of the mixture of the races in America. As far as pure Arab would go the purest may be from places like Saudi or Yemen where the races have not "mixed" as much.

But that said does it really matter? Is this a contest? I am American first and the mixture of English, native American and Irish ancestry doesn't mean a whole lot to me because I am not judging others by there race and don't wish to be judged by mine. I am Christian but don't go around saying it because it would separate me from you and what is the point of that. Just be proud of who you are, just not too proud to exclude yourself from others. Hence, why is this question here? Most Palestinians and Lebanese would identify themselves as Arab, I think. They also probably have more Arab blood in them then anything else so why should one try to stir up trouble in YA?

actually we are considered arab eventhough we are located in asia but no most lebanese people are tan we come in many colors(tan, white) its like saying all americans are blond and have blue eyes its not entirely true and not all arabs are tan but i am glad you asked this question and i hope i helped you

Aussie
Please , as I am of mixed race , primarily Lebanese/Armenian one half & British ( whatever that is ) the other half ,would someone please tell me just what I am ?Particularly when I live in Australia!

Does it matter ?

My grandfather on my mother's side was as pure a Lebanese Arab as you will find ...all of his children , my Mum included , have fair / olive complexion .So what !

If you wish to define people's race by looks you are going to have a hard time when you look at ANY western country ...we have all become a mixed melting pot in the gene pool !

Just because you are white it doesn't mean that you are European. I'm white and I'm an American-born Palestinian but I am not European.

Itay Lahad
That's the idiotic statement of the year. Palestinians are definitely Arab and consider themselves Arab. Some Lebanese may consider themselves Arabs (Lebanese Palestinians) other do not.

Kate
we, the Lebanese, are Arabs...we have dark and light colored skin...we have people with colored eyes and light colored hair too

naserq2
how about Syrians then
in alebo you see the fair blond girls with blue eyes
well you cant say this
this particular area of the world have so many mix marriages
if you may examine genes of Palestinian Arab you ll see some chromosomes from turkey
Italy Greek British Kurdistan Egypt African s Jordan
many pple came from these countries and were just went inti Islam or Christianity and dissolved
but one thing to know now Palestinian cant get married from outer countries
if he does he is not permitted to get her in land
i know some one who is married for six years he cant bring his wife in
more over
one lives in east Jerusalem married a girl from a village 3km out side Jerusalem he has two kids
he cant get the mother in Jerusalem

As far as I know, Arab refers to the language, nothing to do with race. Arab is anyone that speaks Arab as a native language, not a race. For example, an Arab can be black. That's a football player from Tunisia:

So Palestinians and Lebaneses are definetly Arabs.

Arabs mainly belongs to the Caucasian race. There are only three human races: Caucasian, African and Mongoloid, all other races are HUMAN CONVENTION. Genetically the differences between most Arabs and Europeans is irrelevant. Of course, many Arabs can be more light-skinned than many Europeans, specially in Lebanon, Syria and Jordan. But in Palestine most are non-European looking, like Ahmed Korei:

or Mahmoud Abbas:

Thats like saying Egyptians are not African, because the people closer to the equator are black, not brown.

The relative importance of these factors is estimated differently by different groups and frequently disputed. Most people who consider themselves Arabs do so on the basis of the overlap of the political and linguistic definitions. However, some members of groups who meet both criteria reject the identity on the basis of the genealogical and ethno-national definitions; some Lebanese (predominantly Lebanese Maronite Christians) may reject the Arab label in favor of a narrower Phoenician-Aramaean-based Lebanese identity. This is particularly true for the peoples of North Africa; the Muslim Berbers of the Maghreb, and many Egyptians (both Coptic and Muslim) would not identify as Arab. (See also Egypt#Identity).[5] Groups using a non-Arabic liturgical language are especially likely to consider themselves non-Arab. Not many people consider themselves Arab on the basis of the political definition without the linguistic one, thus, Kurds or Berbers do not usually identify themselves as Arab - but some do. For instance, some Berbers also consider themselves Arabs or, in other words, Berber and Arab identities are not necessarily mutually exclusive (v. e.g. Gellner, Ernest and Micaud, Charles, Eds. Arabs and Berbers: from tribe to nation in North Africa. Lexington: Lexington Books, 1972).

G Bone
This is true but not the Palestinians I think only the Lebanese.
