Egypt arrests 25 more in probe of terror attacks
The dragnet in the Sharm el-Sheik terror attacks widened Thursday as police detained at least 25 people in the desert mountains around the Red Sea resort and searched for a green pickup truck that may have been the getaway vehicle for some attackers. |

ah i wish i was there! i went in aug 2005 and the security was so tight then cause of some bombs that that went off there a few weeks before. there are so many police/gaurds there cause the whole of egypt has is at high risk of terrorism, especially in resort areas as these are usually the targets for terrorism. but don't worry about it and just enjoy your holiday there, i'm so jealous! |

First of all I need to tell 2 persons short messages.
Ella P : I think you never seen any map in your life. You even don't know where is Sharm. Why do you answer?
Paul : You may have looked in the map, but still you didn't sleep well yesterday I think.
My answer : The president Mubarak now is in Sharm and meeting many ministers and presidents coming and going. If you ask in the reception of your hotel, they may tell you if he is there or left. |

Hi Adam, ignore most of the answers you have recieved, the p****s come out in force when they see questions like yours!
I am english, live & work here & to be perfectly honest with you i am or should i say feel much safer here than in england!
At this time of year security is stepped up, this is a touristic area, this time of year is very busy, therefore the tourist agents need the extra cover for insurance purposes, please don't be alarmed by this it happens in all countries, just seems to be more prevelent here!
Enjoy your holiday - you are perfectly safe! |

the tight security aims at keeping the place safe . mubarak is always there, big meetings between prominent figures are held there, several explosions targetting security in this charming place took place there. so, we all thank God when the city is safe . moreover, the tight security doesnt really bother anyone. papers are just checked in the most decent way. enjoy yourself in your visit. |

I was in Sharm-el-sheikh 2 weeks back, my dive buddy was a Egyptian resident that filled me in on this:
1. Egypt is under 'Martial Law' since 1967, to reduce 'problems' in Egypt.
2. The income for Egypt mainly revolves around tourism, therefore it is in their best interst to keep us safe.
3. There is a possible risk from the Ghaza strip, as mentioned in the news recently.
4. Along the way to Tiran Island, a family member of Osama Bin Laden lives on a sea view house.....it is extremely large.
5. Don't be worried, this is how Sharm works now. It's security steps up every trip i make, currently on 5.
P.S. people that dont actually know an answer, stop writing utter crap! |

You are in the midst of the Persian Gulf. There is a war going on. The us and Iran are at a stand-off. There are terrorists operating in the area, and you are in the middle of major oil fields, pipelines, and ports.
Why would you think security would not be high? |
