GAZA - peace and freedom!

There is absolutely nowhere for the innocent civilians, men, women & children of Gaza to go. Israel have systematically turned Gaza into a ghetto and a living hell for most Palestinians, by their constant & deliberate blockading of food, medicines, and other essential supplies at the borders. They've done it for years, and they wonder why groups like Hamas start gaining support & fire missiles into Israel. The Israelis have acted in the same way as the Nazis did in WWII. They are no better, and it is not racist or anti-semitic to say so. That's a great thing to hide behind for the Israelis. They have deliberately timed this one-sided, ruthless & murderous action in Gaza because during these last few days of moron George Bush's presidency they knew they would get away with it with American support. It will miraculously cease when Obama takes charge, because without his support, they will have no friends in the world, and no financial support. Their action will come back to haunt them with a new generation of terrorists who have seen what Israel have done to their families, friends and countrymen. It's about time the UN had some real backbone and power, and warned Israel to stop, otherwise a UN force will be deployed to protect UN & other aid workers in Gaza.

Hi, I am from Sweden. Of course I am on the Palestinian side.
I am afraid the Jewish people have only the Jews left for them to self-congratulate while all of us the Europeans are getting ready to send the Israeli leadership (and quiet a few other verified war criminals as well) to the picturesque Hague Tribunal.

I empathise with the Palestinians. I am definitely not Muslim and don't like their religion but I think that they have a right to that land because they were already occupying it when the United Nations stuck their nosey beak in and gave it to the Jews.

Simple With the Palestinians....first Jews around the world after the second world war get given a part of Palestine by the British who havent got the right. So for 60 years or so Palestinians are being robbed of their county, thier lives, and they are caged in between a wall. Why are the Israeli's commiting the same horrible crimes that happend to them in the second world war. Did they learn nothing. Palestine is for the Palestinians and untill the world and its people reach out and Protest in any way against the Israeli's oppression, nothing will change. You might say but the Palestinians Bomb as well. Question, if your home was bulldozed, your Children killed with bullets, and you are being robbed of your country and caged inbetween a wall...what would you do??????

I wish for peace on both sides however, I believe it is organization like Hamas thats not letting it happen. So I am with the Israeli people and the ordinary people of Gaza just not Hamas.

Studies world wide in last week showed 0.01% support for hamas by the small turnout at anti war marches. Despite Hamas paying people to turnout only .01% actually did. So over 99% support peace and israel instead.

I am totally with Israel, because Israel has endured EIGHT YEARS of rocket attacks form Gaza, and it needs to defend itself. What other country would wait 8 years before responding to continuous rocket barrages aimed at its civilians?

During the past year alone, more than 3000 rockets and mortars have been launched into Israel.
Since the end of a formal ceasefire (during which terror attacks continued) with Hamas came to an end on Dec. 19, more than 170 rockets and mortars have been fired at Israeli civilians including a barrage of some 80 missiles on Dec. 24, 2008 alone.

Im 100% with the Israelis, Israel has a right to defend herself and protect her citizens from Hamas,who's aim is to kill every Israeli and destroy beautiful Israel. she gave them plenty of warnings before attacking, it was all self defence.Israel was not targeting civilians.
Its not a war between Israel and Gaza, its between Israel and Hamas the terrorists.

i am with israel. israel has been under rocket attacks by hamas for the past 8 years and israel even left gaza so hamas could give the people of gaza a better life and actually make use of that land. these people wanted hamas. the worst part is the children have been caught in the middle. these children weren't born hating jews and israelis. they were taught hate by their own parents and those horrible tv shows hamas airs. now these children have learned nothing but hate and their idea of peace is completely distorted. do you support hamas? i sure hope not.

People moan about Israel "attacking innocent civilians". Ahem! This is hypocritical coming from the Hamas militia, who condemn this but then previously fired rockets randomly into Israel.
Israel have the right to defend their land. They have the power to completely blitz Gaza and wipe it out, but in this modern day they have to show restraint.
Israel have repeatedly thrashed rebel militia groups from rebel states who have attacked it. The President of Iran apparently stated he wished to "wipe Israel off the face of the map"- a scary thought.
In this case, Israel were being skirmished and couldn't do a lot about it. They have every right to go and blitz Gaza, so don't be swayed by the media headlining stories such as "Israel kill civilians".

I stand with Israel and the maps below explain why. The first one shows the area held by the Ottoman Empire for centuries prior to WWI. At that time Jews lived throughout the entire "Palestinian Territory" (pink) as well as in the outlying Arab controlled areas.

The first division of that territory came with the end of WWI when the Ottoman Empire was divided. The French Mandate took control of the northern half and the British Mandate took control of the southern half decreasing the total area of the "Palestinian Territory" down to what is shown on the next map.

At that time Britain had said they would return all of Palestine back to Israel and make it possible for the Jews to return to their homeland. But the Arabs didn't like that, so with the threat of war, they demanded large chunks be carved out for them. Some went to Lebanon, some to Syria and a large chunk went to the newly created Trans-Jordan (now Jordan) where an Arab king was installed. In the years that followed more than 1,025,000 Jews were expelled from Arab countries as the Arabs became more involved with Hitler.

After WWII it was decided by the League of Nations to acknowledge Israel as a sovereign nation again. This was not a newly created state but a re-created state. Of course the Arabs revolted again and declared war on the tiny nation the very day it was voted on and accepted. Israel won that war but in the interest of peace, the Israeli's agreed to allow yet more land be carved out of what was supposed to be their homeland and as a result Egypt annexed the Gaza Strip and Jordan annexed Samaria and Judea (renamed the "West Bank"), which meant the Arabs controlled the old city of Jerusalem including the holiest sites to the Jewish people.

But that still wasn't enough. For years the Israeli's suffered terrorist attacks and tit-for-tat battles just like they're suffering now, until it turned into another all out war in 1967. The Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and Golan Heights were used as staging areas by Israel's Arab neighbors and while a few Arabs were driven out of those areas by Israel the majority fled to the safety of the countries most of them had migrated from, with hopes that when those countries obliterated Israel they could waltz in and take the entire country over again. But again tiny Israel won the war and took control of not only the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and Golan Heights, but the entire Sinai Peninsula.

Israel is the ONLY country in the world that has had world powers demand that it return land it won in wars it didn't start. But that's exactly what has happened because the 22 member Arab League, the 57 member OIC, and the 13 member of the international economic terrorist group known as OPEC have gained so much control over the United Nations. The Sinai was given back, the Gaza Strip was given back and portions of the Golan Heights and the West Bank have been returned as well.

But every time Israel gives back a portion, the ingrates that lost that war instigate another one, such was Lebanon two years ago and this one now. Israel is constantly blamed for the failure of these people to build themselves a country but their choice to live in ghetto's and camps is not Israel's fault. They had their opportunities to do the right thing and instead they continue to strive for the destruction of Israel with the help of the surrounding Arab countries.

When Israel left the Gaza Strip three years ago they left millions of dollars worth of assets for the Gazans to employ them and feed their people. They showed their gratitude by destroying all of those assets and voting Hamas into office knowing it would bring about this war. After all it's in their charter that their sole reason for being is to destroy Israel. Israel set up a blockade to prevent the rockets and mortars from being funneled into Gaza and Hamas builds tunnels and the rocket attacks increase. Israel signs a "truce" offering to gradually remove the blockade and the rocket attacks increase.

They claim that Israel is a land grabbing nation that should be dissolved. But this last map exposes that lie.

The 1,025,000 Jews that were expelled from Arab countries and their descendants, have a right to have their own tiny corner of that territory to govern themselves. If they choose to let Jews from everywhere else in the world immigrate there, it's no one's business but theirs. The Jewish people have a right to have full control over their holiest site, just as the Arabs have total control over Mecca. And that means all of old Jerusalem should be returned to Israel and it will in time.

The Arab countries and their little proxy countries and armies need to leave Israel alone and mind their own business.
