Here in the United Kingdom the rape sentence is ridiculous- a typical rapist would only spend about 24 months in prison.

I think castoration is the best punishment.Because when they go to prison,they get out and do it again.So take away the weapon and there ya have it.

i personnaly think that rape and murder should be punishable by death or something worse, like living in an islamic country.

Since the woman has to live with the horror of the act for the rest of her life, the man should be given the sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Since I know of vindictive women who have falsely acused men of rape after having had consenual sex with them I think this punish certainly does not fit the crime - like back in the 1980's when a woman heard she had developed a reputation because she had slept with a large number of member of the University of Rhode Island Soccer Team claimed later they had raped her. Many months later and after a total destruction to these young mens reputations, as well as the school's and its athletic department - the woman later recanted her claims of rape when overwhelming evidence showed she was lying. No - I don't believe that rape is worse than murder, but I am an advocate of the death penalty for murder.

I completely agree, death penalty for rapists, pedophiles, murderers... Anyone who completely RUINS anyone else's life. As for countries where there's a death penalty, I don't know. Given their approach to homosexuality, Iran maybe? But that's not really a justified guess.

EDIT:
Alternatively, lock the filthy scum in a dark room and feed them the bare minimum until the become insane. That'll teach them.

First time Prison and counseling.
Second time Prison and either physical or chemical castration.
Third time Let all his victims have a button to push on the Lethal Injection Machine.

You know some are convicted and then found innocent. Many men have gone to jail on a woman's word with no proof.
Let's be fair here.
A second conviction for the same crime ought to get life with the cut. It's a shame that he might then get to lead a happy life as Bubba's girlfriend.

death punishment is way too easy for rapist, i think they should be in jail for long time, that's the real punishment for them to regret on what they did.

Rape is not about sex.....it's about power and control done by men who feel they have neither, castration won't work, other ways to rape a woman if you think about it. Death? I personally don't believe in the death penalty, thou shalt not kill and an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind, but maybe they could be locked up for a very long time with mental help. Cheers!

I don't agree that rape is more severe than murder though - that's illogical as there are many women who are rape 'survivors' but of course nobody survives being murdered!

I disagree; it's a waste of time and resources because if you review the literature on the topic, you'll find that most rapists are not 'mad' they are perfectly sane and able to discern the difference between right and wrong. Rapists rape because they can. Simple as that. And there shouldn't be a chance for them to even rape a second victim. Castrate the bastards after the first time that they are found guilty of rape!

an eye for an eye.. I don't think death should be an option unless they killed some one them self..
I think the punishment should depend on how violent or the severity of the crime. Death might be an option in the case that the person continued raping others, even after being caught and punished several times.

i defiantly agree with you - death to all rapists!

EDIT... just read MIkeinRI's post - didn't think about that, so i wanna add a clause to my new law - anyone accused of rape is held in jail till it can be proven if he's innocent or guilty.

if innocent he goes through the front door, if guilty, he goes out in a coffin
