Self defense can include entering land not a part of your country. The source of the occupation is a clear example of this. As I understand it, your basic premise is that since the fighting occurs in the occupied territory, it cannot be classified as self-defense. That is simply absurd. First of all, unless I fire first, if I am fired upon than any return fire is self defense. As these territories are under Israeli military control they do have the right to deploy forces there, and thus their presence does not make them automatically the aggressor. Furthermore, killing an aggressor before he commits a hostile act is still self-defense, just pre-emptive. Also, there are Jewish settlements in the area, and it would certainly be self defense to fight off some terrorist attacking said settlement.
Your argument keeps going back to Israel being in "someone elses land". Whose land praytell? Jordan's? For that was to whom the land belonged prior to Israeli control. You cannot say that it belongs to the Palestinians absolutely, as it was never Palestine. The area is considered occupied because it was never annexed, not because it officially belongs to some other nation. Also, the occupation is not illegal in that it is supposed to be resolved in the land for peace model. That that peace has yet to have been achieved means nothing. And even if it is illegal according to the UN, who cares? The UN is a corrupt and failed organization, and the only one who listens to it on some point are those who have no incentive not to. It is an organization that when it is assigned to discuss human rights, it just criticizes Israel and fails to address the numerous more serious offenses such as slavery, child labour and lack of proper justice that are rampant throughout the world and even common among nations in the UN. The UN does not decide what is right, just what most nations like.
The video is about pro-Israel bias in the news. Obviously nothing can be objective, and a news organizations bias is relative thus to the video's bias. The video is clearly biased anti-Israel, so whoever made it sees more pro-Israel bias in the news than exists. I remember a classic example from a couple years ago: some terrorist group had tunneled into an army base and planted a bomb which injured some soldiers. The day prior, Israel had killed some high-ranking terrorist. As CNN reported it, the bomb in the base was retaliation for Israel killing the terrorist. As Fox News reported it, the terrorist group claimed the attack was retaliation, but since tunnels take months to dig, the attack was obviously premeditated and the earlier assassination of the terrorist was just a reason given after. Based on your own bias, you can decide which is more objective. To me, CNN omited factual information which would refute the terrorist groups claim in order to write off the incident as the cycle of violence and thus equating the two - anti-Israel bias. Fox news reported factually and thus are either slightly pro-Israel or practically objective. To someone else who was less pro Israel, Fox news unneccessarily refuted the terrorist groups claim to make Israel look better, meaning Fox news is pro-Israel and CNN is more objective. From my perspective, Fox news is more pro-Israel but closer to objective with regards this particular conflict, whereas CNN (and the BBC) is anti-Israel and not objective with regards this conflict.

I't does not neccesarily say Israels claim to self defense are wrong, perhaps it shows that Israel has exploited this situation for its own means but Israel's claim to self defense are quite genuine but like i said Israel is (Like any other country) oppertunistic to make the most of a bad situation...that is to say get as much funding from the US,Israels largest supporter and to make sure the money keeps coming which is like the video shows to sway the US media to side with Israel thus making the american people side with Pro Israel politicans and the cycle goes on, its quite an obvious tecnique that any other nation would use although it is un ethical and at times the manipulation of the media in that way can and probably is downright lying at times, remember if you change a few words over time, overnight you will find the whole picture is changed. (1*such as shown in the youtube video you show)

Obviously Israel benifits from the situation in that it maintaints its settlements and thus controls (and Manipulates) the economy.

But you have to remember Jordan and Egypt did the same thing to Palestine. Remember this ok its an old saying that has held true.

Now Michael i would take exception with several of your premises.

First the Palestinain name is as you say conjured up. It was first used around 1910-1920's and become more and more common untilt he 1960's when the Usage was wide spread.

Now you have to know that the area of Israel/ Palestine is also called the Holy land. Although the name Palestinian wasnt used commonly until about the partiion ('48) and the same holds true for the name Israel and (nationality) Israeli, it was simply conjured up from a land that was not called this and the name Israeli was like wise conjured up.

But these relegious people lived in the Holy land i imagine both jews and muslims who lived in the Holy land. (Palestinians and Israelis)

both formed their idenity in correraltion with the "Holy land" and they had some sort of idenity with this piece of realistate the names palestinian and Israeli where conjured up to describe this unique idenity these peopel had.

So remember this Jewish/Arab peopel the name Israeli is just as made up (taken from the bible though) as the name Palestinian but at the end of the day they express the idenity of the jews and Arabs who lived in this land we call the holy land.

Today these Arabs and Jews use the name Israeli and Palestinain to express their idenity-so be it i say.

You obviously beleive everything you want to beleive. Get some history lessons on the last 400 years of the history of the middle east. There were no Palistinians the Romanss created that name . There was no Syria,Iraq,Lebanon Jordan, It was the European powers again because of the influence oil created these countries. In 1948 when the Jews were given back the land of their fore fathers without oil concessions the Arabs protested and attacked Israel , they all had a very short memory and purposely forgetting that they themselves were given land in the exact same way. It is a well known fact to all intelegent people around the world that the word Palistine is derived from the word Philistines.In fact all who lived there Jews,Christians,Arabs Greeks were all called Palistiniansa. There is no Palistinian nation. After conquering the land of Israel the Romans renamed it after the biblical enemies of the Jews. The Philistines who were never ever Arabs but Greek. Again a historical fact the British unlawfully violated the Mandate and instead of giving back the biblical land of Israel back to the Jews who had been living there for thousands of years .In 1922 the British gave almost 80% of the Jewish biblical land of Israel to the Hashemite Arabs now known as Jordan including the West Bank. They themselves know that Jordan is the home land of Palistinians.
