That's not a bad idea. You should at least be able to understand what and who you are voting for before you put a big ol' X on your ballot!

Some of these poor people feel indebted to the ANC for delivering them from apartheid, "blindly so" and it has nothing to do with their intelligence.
Maybe you should feel your pulse before making such posts....

No, you don't believe in a democracy, do you? You have to accept that different groups have different world views and that no one has the right to call his worldview as superior. You have to start seeing people as people and stop with prejudices. Put yourself in the shoes of those who suffered under apartheid... and then you'll know why people are voting ANC (I'm not an ANC supporter though). I know the majority citizens is maybe? worse off now, but at the end of the day all people want is human dignity and respect - People were willing to die for freedom after all which is an indication that people are more concerned about the right to vote than bread on the table. (Although the ANC has built 2.4 million homes since 1994 - it'll be unfair to say that they did nothing to uplift the poor.)

After reading some of the questions asked on "Yahoo! Answers", and the fact that so many persons can't seem to understand that a "Check Spelling" feature is right in front of their eyes and just a click away, I some times think that every person should have to take an intelligence test before they can vote or even drive!

Should idiots have the right to pick who governs us? Do people that are mentally retarded (I guess the politically correct word here in the U.S. would be mentally handicapped) vote? I some times think that there is a very thin line between being mentally handicapped and being an idiot.

I wonder who would compile such an intelligence test. The far left or the far right? If the far left compiles it then the majority of the white folk would fail, if the far right compiles it then the majority of the black folk would fail.

Your intelligence is obviously clouded by... a lot of anger and resentment. Maybe you should do some research yourself and find out how black people were living under apartheid. The high standards of living you are talking about existed only for the privileged few.

Over an age, perhaps if they can prove they are employed or own property or some other way that makes people more responsible - you could use that and then whites and anyone else that doesn't qualify all fall away.

That might work but how do you define intelligence and at which point on the intelligence scale do you start?

Forget about voting, how about a basic test before you post here - so that the rest of us do not have to read babbling from fools about idiots with such a limited brain to conceive of themselves as qualified or competent? It is also another fine reason to support the benefits afforded S Africa by deportation of the previously advantaged European sectors, and vigorous population eugenics.

You're not perhaps referring to the non-white citizens of South Africa who made up 80% of the population being forced to live in the Homelands which was only about 20% of the total land in South Africa? The Homelands which did not deliver the jobs and housing promised by the NP? You mean the high standard of living afforded to those coloured families who were forcibly removed from areas which to be classified white and dumped on the desolate Cape Flats and provided with the poorest housing possible? You mean the high standard of living afforded to those who were deliberately economically disenfranchised and not allowed to fully participate in the market?

Can we please go back to that high standard of living again? It sounds sooooo good.

I agree. Some people just shouldn't vote. But then again: how can we stop the Intellectually challenged from voting if even the convicted criminals have a vote?

I do agree that one should be able to read and write to vote. DonÂ´t just look at the pictures and think "X". We already have too many "X-men" who sign their name as "X". And the age limit is not reliable, as some are way over 20 and not yet passing standard 6 (grade 8). That was one of the few things that olÂ´Bob got right in Zim. He made sure all his people went to school to learn to read and write. But, then he also made sure that they did not earn any money to buy batteries for radios to hear the news of all his balls ups.

you have continually stated that you dont think the black man is capable of governing himself and that he was much better off under apartheid because of the fact that black south africans enjoyed the highest standards of living in africa.

Europeans should just re-colonise it and return it to civilisation minus all the old apartheid policies. In every part of Africa, Africans were better off economically under colonialism than they ever were or have been under African rule. Its never going to happen and everyone knows that South Africa despite the Malan's of this World is headed down the tubes.
