Should fruits be eaten?

I prefer them at room temperature.

For me, fruits are hard to eat when they are cold. Cold banana, cold apple, cold orange, cold anything. Well, actually, I like my apples, grapes and tangerines cold. But that's it.

A long time ago, I had a bad experience with a cold banana. I ate a banana that was in the fridge and it was very cold. After taking a bite I would hold my mouth open with the smashed up banana on my tongue so my teeth wouldn't freeze. One day, my sister and her girlfriend (who I was trying to impress) came in and saw me with my mouth open and my eyes closed. They started laughing at me, which caught me off guard and made me choke on the banana.

After I coughed it up (a mashed up piece came out of my nose), I tried to explain, but the damage was done. My sister's friend, who was very cute, never looked at me without giggling. I know she was really laughing at me.

So, every time I see a cold piece of fruit, I cry a little bit inside.

it depends on the type of fruit.
some fruits must be cold, like water mellon.
i can not imagine eating a coconut out of the freezer. :)
so some should be eaten cold.

Cold: watermelon, cantaloupe, grapes, figs..
the rest can be eaten at room temp.

Depends on the type of fruit & the time of year..

Some fruit like oranges for example , I will always have at room temperature , others like grapes & stone fruit always seem to taste better , to me at least , if they are chilled !

In Australia , we get our stone fruit & melons at Christmas time, the middle of Summer, so chilled fruit go down particularly well on a stinking hot day !

I think it is probably down to personal preference, but from a Chef point of view, I would say room temperature.
When things are cold, you do lose some of the taste
