Marijuana should not be legalized because it would increase the chances of the drug falling into the hands of kids. Drug-related arrests, people who have committed or are likely to commit more serious crimes can be taken off the streets. Physical damage would be done to users that abuse the drug. The level of impairment it induces is dangerous.

how many people smoke 10, 20, 30, 40 joints a day? no one.

this is often thrown up as an argument against pot, but when you think about it it has no merit.

I know no one who even smokes ONE whole joint by themselves. every smoker I know has AT LEAST a half a pack a day habit

when we instituted a minimum drinking age, did that "increase the chances" of kids getting booze? no. in fact, it did the opposite.

I think that you are absolutely correct. Marijuana is not nearly as harmful as cigarettes or tobacco. Hundreds of millions of people use marijuana and the police really think that they are going to catch everyone who uses or sells it. I understand that people who smoke pot and then get behind the wheel sometimes, get in an accident or hurt somebody else in the process, but marijuana is not such a bad thing. I don't smoke it or condone it in any way, shape or form, but I do believe that peple should have their freedom and marijana should be legalized.

I think that either marijuana should be legalised, or alcohol should be criminalised, either one would at least remove the double standards that exist in our legal system. I absolutely believe marijuana to be a harmless drug when compared to alcohol which is notorious for causing violence, motor vehicle crashes etc etc. It seems the powers that be are blatantly biased and ignorant when it comes to the facts and simple logic.

I would vote to legalize it.

I've smoked it before, but not regularly or recently, so I am not coming at it from the angle of a user.

Most of your reasons are quite valid, although I would probably so "no more harmful" than alcohol or tobacco, as opposed to "far less harmful".

I would add to your list:

1. tax revenues from legalized sale could be put to good use, or possibly the reduction in other taxes such as gasoline tax.

2. regulation of supply could reduce incidents of pot being laced with other drugs.

3. The government should not be in the business of telling consenting adults what they can and can't do in the privacy of their own home when their actions are not causing harm to anyone else.

Legalise it control it tax it there is little point in doing anything else. Saw fields full of it near me the farmer said he was growing it for BMW car interiors whether true or not I don't know.

i think they should make it legal for one reason alone.....it has been proven to help as alternative for people who are in pain.....meds

i do believe it as harmful if not less than alcohol but i don't feel they will make it legal until the government can control the flow of it plus they gotta tax it somehow.....lol

I think it should be legalized, here is the biggest reason it's not. The federal government cannot control it enough to be able to get all the revenue from it's sales, just like liquor back during the days that moonshine was illegal. (Prohibition)
