Sure, call them philistines/filisteen if you want. But caution, that word comes with a heavy legacy. Any usage of that name trying to take over Israel land by hostility comes with heavy price. Here is what happened the last time someone used that name:

1 Samuel: 5:10." And they sent away the Ark of G-d to Ekron, and it was that when the Ark of G-d came to Ekron, that the Ekronites cried out, saying, "They have brought around the Ark of the G-d of Israel to me to kill me and my people."
5:11. "And they sent and gathered all the lords of the Philistines, and they said, "Send away the Ark of the G-d of Israel, and let it return to its place, so that it will not kill me and my people," for there was a panic of death in the entire city; the hand of G-d was very heavy there."

So basically what happened is the Philistines lost land in war, stole our Ark then realized our G-d was killing them, gave the Ark back. They went home, made a blood sacrifice undoubtedly to some pagan god, and tried to come after Israel again. David then killed Goliath (and the rest of them) then built Jerusalem. G-d made the Philistines extinct because they didn't learn their lesson. So does this sound familiar like deja vu again? Because the Arabs have already admitted there is no such thing as "philistine/palestine" people they claim their own fate by that usage. They picked their own poison, so to speak.

Nobody has ever gone against Israel and won. Every war that Israel has collectively decided to fight, with the hand of G-d, she has won. I wish no harm to them but just wish they would disarm. Usage of this word with Gaza already has biblical parallels. Even the bedouin call that land cursed. But funny, when Israel is in control of it then it blooms! Coincidence? I think not! They are a different people but they're picking the same fate.

According to Judaism the Ark is hidden til the time that we are redeemed by G-d (we are many redeemed and some still in process) and according to Quran the Muslims believe in the Ark.

It's a very old name given to Arabs by the Greeks, almost a millennium before the appearance of the Jews in Asia.
In Arabic there is no "P" so the next option is "Ph".

If you want. Alot of non-English speaking countries call themselves something in their own language. By calling them 'Palestinians' isnt offensive, its just thats theres no 'P' in the Arabic alphatbet. So people from the Arab world call me 'Briya'

Desis (Indians and Pakistanis) call us 'Bangalis' because thats what we call ourselves. The rest of the world calls us 'Bangladeshis'

Non-desi people call Indians 'Indians' whilst we call them 'Hindustanis'

anyway..no they don't call themselves philistines ! it's falastinyeen , but too bad... you can't call them like this because there is a letter that you can't even pronounce in the right way.

maybe you are a philistine... but the people in Palestine are falastinyeen ..yes...the arabic word :)

I always knew that Palestine was called ...Palestine.

many arabic countries are different in arabic.

for example, egypt is 'masr'
alexandria is 'eskandraya'
saudi arabia is 'arabic saudeya'
lebanon is 'lebnan'.

and let me clear up some of what was written here...arabic has many different dialects. so it may be filistineen in one language, but what i wrote here is in egyptian arabic. totally different.

The Palestinians are the people of the holy land the native people. Un like other races who immigrated to the holy land.
They are proud people and historically they never gave up their rights to no one. Invaders come and go and Palestine shine from sea to sea.

"Palestine" never existed. In Arabic it's Filisteen. It comes from Palestina, the ancient Roman name for the province, which in turn comes from the Phillistines in the Bible. The Phillistines were not Arab and have jack s*** to do with the "Palestinians." In Arabic Palestinians are called Filistin-iyeen. That just means Palestinians and has nothing to do with the Phillistines.

The Phillistines were an ancient, pagan people who disappeared thousands of years ago. They were not named after the land - the land was named after them.

Lesson for Arabs: Israel existed historically and it exists presently. Palestine is a deceptive illusion created to legitimatize destroying Israel, according to your OWN leaders.
