It is really up to her.
If she is a free spirited woman who has a lot of energy, then there is no point of staying at home. She'll manage to take care of her home and family and at the same time be dedicated to her work.
Work also provides her with the needed security in case she is single, divorced or a widow.
Personally I don't see the relation betw work and cheating as the first two answers mentioned. If a woman wants to cheat, she'll manage to do it at home during the absence of her husband and I don't think that this is an issue that should be generalized.
As far as "better for society" is concerned, well, women are better than men in certain jobs, like teaching, nursing and so I guess they become essential in the society and you can't do without them.

If a women has children and then the children go to school- a women if she is capable she should work or volunteer. This is regardless of the income of her husband, rich, middle or poor, if she is able (well mentally, Physically and her home will not suffer by her absence for example if she needed to do certain tasks that would mean she was homebound ) then she should.

Why?

This is good for the society, it progresses the nation.

Her volunteering props up the lack of social services, for example Public schools need more volunteer helpers in the classrooms, hospitals need more volunteers, the blood banks need more blood, the teaching of computers, the visiting the old, the disabled, homeless families and children need attention, they need more food, more education, more teaching, the homeless children need to feel the warmth of a mothering figure and a women can do that. This would reduce crime, poverty and a strain on the society both long and sort term. The list of volunteering opportunities is endless.

Her income strengthens the country's economy

It is good for her self esteem and mental health

It is good for the well being of all the females around her
It gives her Independence, confidence and new skills for herself and others

It prevents religion being twisted and abused by those that would seek to oppress the rights of women given to them by our faith; for example if a women has her own income, which Islamically (I’m not sure about Coptic’s, but would like some one to answer that if they could) a women should have some money of her own, it means that if women are abused at home by husbands or are suffering some difficult times that she has the financial ability to be able to make choices based on what she ascertains is the best thing to do, this is the case of many women who are abused by the husbands, they don’t have the money, self esteem or enough support from outside the home to leave or to tackle the abuse by making the man fear or respect her assertiveness as a women.

There are also points to take note of: unlike other countries Egypt allows a women to take five years! of maternity leave and still return to her same job that she left in pregnancy, the women in Egypt is very protected by the rights of the maternity employment law.

It is better for everyone if the woman makes her choice....
If she CHOOSES to be a housewife with kids she will be more likely to be happy at that and keep the family happy..if it is forced upon her the family will suffer in the long run from her unhappiness.
However there is nothing wrong with asking these type of questions before marriage...everyone has a right to know about what life they might choose. Men and women to be married soon shouldn't assume that the other person knows what is their desires.

I believe that this depends on her needs and her circumstances and also the needs of her society.
what i don't like is when i see some women work just to go out of home, she doesn't like her job and she doesn't need money, she is just killing her time.

I also wish that the job of a house wife be more appreciated than that.
I believe that raising a child is a more noble and difficult job than many other time wasting jobs.

IF she doesn't have kids , so I think its better for her to work.
IF she has kids, and her husband can't bring enough money, so its better for her to work.
IF she has kids and her husband is rich, So its better to keep watching her kids, and prepare them to explore their life.

It also depends what kind of work she wants to do and in what kind of envirement.
if i had a young attractive wife for example i would not want her to work among men at all.
as a moslem i would probably only be comfortable with her working in a islamic/religious envirement like a private moslem school.

This is a very difficult and interesting question to answer frankly .

Actually speaking , we can not expect everything out of a single woman , I strongly feel at this age of modernisation , having a high flying career and also caring for the family and kids at the same time is a myth . A housewife and the working women have significantly different mentalities in this age .

I have repeatedly seen working women leaving their kids with their parents and in laws while they work. I strongly feel this is not the right thing to do. If the kid is yours looking after it should be your responsibility .

At least the kid should be in a creche close to where the mother is working . Looking after a kid is not just another arrangement .

It's also seen in the name of a career, women neglect their household responsibilities, cooking , cleaning is passe , only to be done by maids or in laws or parents . These jobs are thought to be demeaning in most cases .

So here's what I have to say , its great to be a career minded woman , to excel in life , but then its strongly recommended for working women

1. To either stay single ,

2. Or get into a live in relationship with no commitments .

3. If they marry , better not to have kids .

4. Else find a husband who stays at home and looks after the family and kids .

AT NO COST SHOULD THE HEALTHY MENTAL AND PHYSICAL GROWTH OF KIDS BE IMPAIRED .

What good is social development when the household is on fire ?

So there should be the women willing to be housewifes in the society too , so that the careerist women can go ahead with their work .

They are two separate entities and should not be confused .
