Yellow gold is a soft metal and will scratch and wear more easily. White gold is marginally harder and will wear better over a long period of time.

If the ring is purely for aesthetic reasons then silver is harder and will wear less than yellow or white gold.

Depending on the chemical makeup of your skin and whether or not you have allergies to the metal that either the gold or silver is mixed with... Both metals can be worn all the time.

Choose the metal that looks best with your skin tone. If Silver looks best with your skin tone, but you cannot wear it, choose white gold.

Edited to add that the silver will not turn black if you wear it all the time. It will turn black if you don't wear it.

My wedding band is silver as are all of the rings that I wear, which count 7. And none of them are black.

I will note that one of them turns my finger black when the acidity in my body is off, but that is because there is copper in the ring.

white gold. not as cheap as silver but will hold up better than it. and is prettier than yellow gold. although you might not want to swim in a ring that is real, unless your in a pool where you can find it.

I personally love white gold ! Its soo pretty !
but gold is soo expensive. but since this is a practical evryday ring, that is not going to be used for any special occassion then you might as well get silver or white gold which is cheaper and more suited for practical wear. gold is too fancy for everyday and not very cheap either :(

I like white gold much better than the yellow.
Silver is nice and has very beautiful tastes, but finally its color gets changed with the time.
So, since u wanna wear it all the time, I think that gold will be a better choice.
