Let's closely examine the facts of history from the Arab perspective, rather than the Jewish one, regarding Jordan and Palestine.

"Palestine is Jordan and Jordan is Palestine; there is only one land, with one history and one and the same fate," Prince Hassan of the Jordanian National Assembly was quoted as saying on February 2, 1970.

Accordingly, Abdul Hamid Sharif, Prime Minister of Jordan declared, in 1980, "The Palestinians and Jordanians do not belong to different nationalities. They hold the same Jordanian passports, are Arabs and have the same Jordanian culture."

In other words, Jordan is Palestine. Arab Palestine. There is absolutely no difference between Jordan and Palestine, nor between Jordanians and Palestinians (all actually Arabs).

This fact is also confirmed by other Arabs, Jordanians and 'Palestinans' who were either rulers or scholars.

"There should be a kind of linkage because Jordanians and Palestinians are considered by the PLO as one people," according to Farouk Kaddoumi, then head of the PLO Political Department, who gave the statement to Newsweek on March 14, 1977. Distinguished Arab-American Princeton University historian Philip Hitti testified before the Anglo-American Committee,

"There is no such thing as 'Palestine' in history."
According to Arab-American columnist Joseph Farah,
"Palestine has never existed - before or since - as an autonomous entity. It was ruled alternately by Rome, by Islamic and Christian crusaders, by the Ottoman Empire, and briefly by the British after World War I. The British agreed to restore at least part of the land to the Jewish people as their homeland. There was no language known as Palestinian. There was no distinct Palestinian culture. There has never been a Palestine governed by the Palestinians. Palestinians are Arabs, indistinguishable from Jordanians (another recent invention), Syrians, Lebanese, Iraqis, etc."
These authoritative, honest statements are by Arabs, Jordanians and Palestinians, and absolutely must be taken at their face value and word.
All right, so you're not quite into quotes. How about these tasteful tidbits of historical facts?

* Jews, not Arabs, have lived continuously in the ancient Biblical Promised Land of Israel, especially Judea and Samaria, for 3,700 years. This land was given as a gift by G-d to the Children of Israel (Hebrews, Israelites, Jews) and is so stated in all of the three monotheistic religions' holy books - Old Testament, New Testament and Quran. Faithful followers of Judaism, Christianity and Islam all believe in the same one G-d and therefore must believe the word of their G-d. G-d does not make and break his promises. There is a very valuable lesson to be learned by all his children and faithful followers.
* The current queen of Jordan is an Arab 'Palestinian'.

* Approximately half of Jordan's prime ministers since 1950 have been Arab 'Palestinians'.

* More than 2/3 of the Jordanian people are Arab 'Palestinians'.

* The majority of citizens residing in the capital of Amman are Arab 'Palestinians'.

* Arab 'Palestinians' constitute not less than one half of the members of the armed forces, according to the late King Hussein, as broadcast on Amman Radio February 3, 1973.

* The majority of other security forces are Arab 'Palestinians'.

* Jordan occupies 77% of the original Palestine Mandate (originally promised to the Jewish people). The population density of Jordan is less than 61 people per square mile leaving lots of room to absorb many more of their brethren and cousins.

Well the government of Syria for a long time considered Lebanon rightfully part of its territory.That is one of the reasons Syria to this day dose not have a embassy in Lebanon, and refuses to demarcate their common border.

Back to the Jordan/Palestine question Jordan was originally part of the same British mandate of Palestine. In addition after the first Arab-Israeli war Jordan annexed a large portion of what is today referred to as Palestine, namely the West Bank. That is where those borders come from and where the name comes from. west bank being on the western side of the Jordan river as apposed the rest of the Kingdom of Jordan which was on the east.

They do that because firstly they are right next to each other, secondly they both did not exist till about 70 years ago, and also because due to the Israelis (idiots) loads of Palestinian refugees settled in Jordan (the only arab country that properly accepted them) and now have families mixed into Jordan.

Truly amazing the answers I found here. Many people are re writing the history or believing lies to be true.

Those who answer are trying hard to avoid the real question. The true and only answer is that in their attempt to write off the rights of palestinians they try hard to wipe out their nationality and if possible their existence.

As for the lebanese question, those who control the media had no interest in discussing this matter so they never did. Except when the issue of Sheb'aa Farms was hot only then they started discussing it to confuse the public opinion and avoid a reolution against The Israelis.

Jordan welcomed palestinians and granted them passports in an attempt to help them continue to exist and not to write off their nationality. Those with hidden agendas try to use this fact to claim palestinians do not exist.

Jews were and continue to be minority in Palestine but they try hard to hide this fact when throwing lies over and over again and some improperly educated people fall for it and do believe it to be the truth.

To those who question the originality of Palestinians and claim that Arabs were given current Jordan for Jews to take Palestine I have a modern days question to them. If this is true why do Israel Prime Ministers and US Presidents continue to insist on the fact that two states, Palestine and Israel should co exist on Palestine? Why were there and continue to be many UN resolutions admitting the Palestinians right to exist in their state, remember UN resolutions 242 and 338 that specifically demanded Israel to withdraw from Palestinian and Arab lands and territories. So, the whole world and UN admit that Palestine and palestinians are land and people. So, the others who try or attempt to hide the sun should sit still and very silent.

Besides, if Jews were so appealing why did they live in Ghetos when they were in Europe and couldn't mix with the other Europeans. Not because they did not want to it's merely because Europeans were fed up with them. Eventually, they were thrown on the Arab Countries! God Mercy on Arabs.

Are the Jews truly God's chosen people? Jews were always in rejection of the Lord and his word, they even crucified Jesus and still want to claim being the chosen people. In the Bible it's clearly written that all humans are people of God and no longer the Jews were his people. Besides, do you mean to say that the Great Lord is so unfair as far to favor one human over another.

I was interested to read certain quotes from Jordanian officials, quotes taken out of their context just like Judas Wittnesses do. Jordanian officials continued to stress on the fact of solidarity between People sharing life in the Jordanian Kingdom. Stressing on the fact that they share the suffering of their brothers across the river because in Arabs beliefs, all arabs are brothers.

I have a hard time believing you don't know the history of this region. So I have to assume that you're just in denial about Jordan originally being more than 75% of the Palestinian Territory and being the only Palestinian State promised to the Arabs and Hashemites.

I can'tt give you a complete history lesson here but when talks first started about reinstating Israel as a Jewish homeland in the early 1900's they were told they would receive all of their original country of Israel back, which amounted to about 65% of the Palestinian Territory. The Saudi's rejected the idea saying that to return all of Palestine to the Jews would cause a separation between them and Syria that they couldnâ€™t accept. In reality they didn't want to lose control of that much land, particularly to the Jews, who numbered more than a million in the area but lived as dhimmi, having to submit to Islamic government and laws.

The talks continued through WWII and that's one of the primary reasons why the Arabs joined forces with Hitler. Their hope was that if Hitler won the war, they would be allowed to do away with all the Jews that lived on their lands, just as he was doing.

But when the allied forces won the war and the Empire was divided between France and Britain to manage the Arabs opted for merely demanding a division of the territory that would prevent the Jews from controlling any land between them and their allied countries; Syria and Lebanon.

Since by then oil had been found in the Middle East their demands were quickly met and the Jews were told they would receive a much smaller portion (25%) of the original agreement of land to rebuild their country on.

Abdullah I bin al-Hussein, the first King of Jordan actually came from Mecca to become king of what is now Jordan (then called Trans-Jordan) . Once the Arabs had carved that chunk out of the territory as well as a little bit more for Lebanon and a little more for Syria that left only what is now Israel, the Gaza Strip and Samaria (the West Bank).

Then, realizing what a powerful bargaining tool they had with oil they demanded that limits be put on how many Jews could relocate to the unavoidable official state of Israel. Once the White Papers were written limiting the number to 7500 per year, with no limit on how many Arabs could migrate to Israel, they started cleansing their own newly created countries of Jews. They confiscated homes, land, businesses and other property from more than 850, 000 forcing most of them to move to Europe and the U.S.

In the mean time the Arabs, many of whom had only recently migrated to Israel refused to accept the new Arab-Palestinian state of Jordan as home, and demanded yet a second â€œPalestinianâ€ state, settling in both Samaria and Gaza.

It wasnâ€™t until after the 6 Days War that anyone EVER heard any of these people refer to themselves as â€œPalestiniansâ€ and there is NO documentation from any government that anyone bore the nationality of â€œPalestinianâ€ prior to 1967. The ONLY reason they started doing so was because once they fled back to their homelands to avoid the war and were refused reentry back into Israel after they lost the war, it lent credibility to their demands to carve yet even more land out of what was to be returned to Israel. In reality, they are no more "Palestinian" than the Jordanians or the Israeli's that lived in that region prior to 1948.

Well, what's wrong with it? I'm of Palestinian origins, but my grandparents were kicked out of their home village by the Israeli forces and were forced to take Jordan as a shelter since it is the closest country, and probably the most one that took us (Palestinians) in. I love Jordan and Palestine both as my mother countries. Why not consider them as a one unit?
