The Palestinians have always claimed that they were in Israel long before the Jews. True or false ?

An ingenious example of speech and politics occurred recently at the U.N.
and made the world community smile.
A representative from Israel began-

"Before beginning my talk I want to tell you something about Moses. When
he struck the rock and it brought forth water, he thought, 'What a good opportunity
to have a bath!' He removed his clothes, put them aside on the rock and entered
the water. When he got out and wanted to dress, his clothes had vanished. A
Palestinian had stolen them."

The Palestinian representative jumped up furiously and shouted, "What are you
talking about? The Palestinians weren't there then."

The Israeli representative smiled and said "And now that I have made that clear,
I will begin my speech."

I will repeat it until it sinks in.................

No we don't claim that. Some of the Palestinians who believe that they are decendets of the Cananites were actually before the Jews but the rest is not. What we believe in is the Jews were kicked by the Romans a long time ago. Some of thems stayed and those are known by the oriental Jews (who are currently persecuted and treated unfairly by the Europian Jews just like Arab Israelis). Those oriental Jews have all the right to the country because they have always lived there. The Palestinian Arabs (who apperantly came after the exclusion of Jews by the Romans) lived there for at least 1000 years. They lived on the land along with the oriental Jews in peace until the zionist occupation came in 1948, kicked them from their homes. Made them without identity and claimed the ownership of the land based on their religious belief that G-d gave it to them which me as a muslim don't believe and don't have to believe in.

I have read your Joke maybe 10 times, it is a silly joke. There were no Palestinians at that time and there was NO ISREAL at that time either. There WERE Palestinians in 1948 when there were only a few Jews until the zionist occupation came.

Peace

rotflmao. Here's some history to back you up!

In pre-Biblical times, the area was known as the Land of Canaan and had been a collection of city-states, tributary to the Egyptian Pharoah, as attested to in the Tel-El Amarna tablets. The breakup of the Egyptian empire beginning about 1500 BC made possible the invasion of the Israelites. According to Jewish tradition, twelve tribes entered Canaan from Egypt and conquered it, led by Moses approximately 1240-1200 BC. Historical evidence from the Amarna tablets suggests that there were already 'apiru' (Hebrews) among the Canaanites in the time of Egyptian rule.

During the final years of the Late Bronze Age, the Philistines also invaded Canaan (1500 - 1200 BC). Other evidence suggests that around 1200 BC, semi-nomads from the desert fringes to the east, joined by elements from Anatolia, the Aegean, and the south, possibly including Egypt, began to settle in the hill country of Canaan. A large proportion - probably a majority of this population - were refugees from the Canaanite city states, destroyed by the Egyptians in one of their periodic invasions.

The Biblical account continues with the rise of an Israelite kingdom, first under Saul and then under David at about 1000 BC, the date of David's conquest of Jerusalem.

Jews have been living ***continuously*** in Israel for 4000 years.

Just consider that the Arabic language has no "P" sound.
Since Arabs are foreign to Palestine, they have no names for the places of Palestine. Hence, nonsense names like "West Bank".

Of course not. Palestine is the name dictated by the Romans to erase any Jewish traits with their land.

Roman rule over Jerusalem and the region began to be challenged with the first Jewish-Roman war, the Great Jewish Revolt, which resulted in the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 CE. In 130 CE. Hadrian romanized the city, and renamed it Aelia Capitolina. Jerusalem once again served as the capital of Judea during the three-year rebellion known as the Bar Kochba revolt. The Romans succeeded in recapturing the city in 135 CE and as a punitive measure Hadrian banned the Jews from entering it. As a result the city became entirely pagan (non-Jewish). Hadrian proceeded to rename the entire Iudaea Province to Syria Palaestina after the Biblical Philistines in an attempt to thwart future rebellion and to de-Judaize Judea. Enforcement of the ban on Jews entering Aelia Capitolina continued until the 4th century CE.

Not unless they are PHILISTINES...have you seen any PHILISTINES lately? The first account of Arabs is found in Ezra and Nehemia when the scribes (intelligencia) returned from Babalon. The Arabs claim to be Canaanites, but they obviously are not!

OK, there is one thing we need to make clear. No one has any right to claim that they were in Palestine first, as there have been settlers there in times long before Abraham. Plus the fact that Moses is a prophet of Islam, but I won't get into that now. Tell me where you found that? I mean come on, I have to be a little bit suspicious, considering the fact that whenever a Palestine supporter posts anything like that, everyone rants on about how much "propaganda" its filled with, not that I believe that this is propaganda, I just want to know your source. Whether or not it is, I made my point, no one can claim they had Palestine first, no one, therefore the matter doesn't merit any serious discussion.

mark
The Palestinian representative should be removed from his post as a representative of the people of Palestine and Palestine History.

When Mosa "PUOH" struck the rock he was in the Egyptian territories. And Mosa "PUOH sent messengers to Gaza to see how was the land they found tall and strong people who are ready to defend their land. The messengers told Mosa "PUOH" go you and your God and fight those strong and powerful Palestinians.

So the Palestinians were there before the Hebrew immigration from Egypt.
Note. Mosa "PUOH never entered Palestine and he died in Jordan.
Edit: mo mosh it is not Palestine in Arabic it is Philistine as it used be call for 5000 years ago nothing have changed.

False, of course.

Ibn Khaldun, one of the most creditable Arab historians, wrote in the year 1377:
"Jewish sovereignty in the Land of Israel extended over 1400 years... It was the Jews who implanted the culture and customs of the permanent settlement."

After 300 years of Arab rule in the Holy Land, Ibn Khaldun attested that Jewish culture and traditions were still dominant. By that time there was still no evidence of "Palestinian" roots or culture .

The historian James Parker wrote: "During the first century after the Arab conquest [670-740], the caliph and governors of Syria and the [Holy] Land ruled entirely over Christian and Jewish subjects. Apart from the Bedouin in the earliest days, the only Arabs west of the Jordan were the garrisons."

If the historic documents, comments written by eyewitnesses and declarations by the most authoritative Arab scholars are still not enough, let us quote the most important source for Muslim Arabs:
"And thereafter We [Allah] said to the Children of Israel: 'Dwell securely in the Promised Land. And when the last warning will come to pass, we will gather you together in a mingled crowd'.."- Quran 17:104

.

Well, lets look at facts of history. There was no such thing as Palestine or Palestineans until after the Roman's put down the Jewish revolt in 67-70 CE. It was then that the areas known as Judah, the Galilee, Samaria, and Idumaea were merged together and re-names Palestinia by the Romans. So in reality, all inhabitants of that area became Palestineans at that time. Both the Jews and any Non-Jews living in those regions. So the claim that Palestineans were there before the jews is totally false. Now to claim that there were other people living in modern day Israel prior to the Exodus of Moses, is true and is backed up by archaeology and biblical texts. There were people known as Caananites living in the region, and some groups known as Philistines that migrated into that region as well. But it seems pretty clear that the first group to occupy the region and set up a true kingdom were the tribes of Israel. Biblical and some archaelogical findings also give relevance to the jews being there long before the Exodus. The ancestors of the exodus jews (Jacob also known as Isreal), came from this region prior to Jacob going to Egypt during the famine (see Genesis chapter 37). Remember that Joseph was sold to merchants traveling from Gilead to Egypt. Gilead was a region slightly east of the jordan river and extended from the southern end of the Sea of Galilee to the northern end of the Salt Sea. That would mean that Jacob, Joseph and his brothers were living near Gilead and north of Egypt. So claim can be made that Jews as we know them, were in the land of Israel long before the Mosaic Exodus.

Jasmine W
False. Jews were living there since before Christianity and Islam was born until the Roman kicked them out.

What a lame joke.

mr. roo .JPA.
ABC, I'm afraid you don't understand the joke; it's not making fun of Moses....

And that's Moses, not Musa, so it's the Jewish Moses, not the Muslim he's talking about....no need for you take offense.

We feel that our prophets had a sense of humor when appropriate.....and we've been respecting him and revering him for over 3400 years, thank you.....

You respect your prophets as you see fit, and we'll respect ours as we see fit - does that seem fair to you?

Xull - although parts of the Bible do claim that the Canaanites were driven out or exterminated, modern Biblical criticism has cast doubt on that claim. The popular understanding of the conquest story in Joshua is not born out by archeology, and the later picture we have in Judges of the children of Israel living amid the Canaanites seems to be more accurate.

Jewish tradition certainly agrees that there were other people in the land before the Children of Israel, and that were others living alongside them in parts of the land.

I'd just correct Mark S on one detail. The biblical story does not have Moses leading a conquest of Canaan - Moses does not get to enter the Promised Land. HIs successor Joshua leads the Children of Israel into Canaan.

==============================

Thanks, Xull - you can report me for chatting any time! :-)
And please get my name right! I get very upset if you capitalize, or forget the very important underscore!! :-)

Why you are keep repeating the same post, I have read this sick joke in this section several times, in fact I can understand the lack of legitimacy feeling that all the Israelis have, but that doesn’t mean to make fun of our prophets, if you don’t respect Moses I and all the Muslims are respecting him, count to ten before posting anything here.
Sorry my friend, you are not funny…. Don’t try again please.

They are far more ancient that the habiru who were mere vagabonds and thieves when the Philistines were already a highly developed trading nation administred by Egypt.

True, The one true God of Israel told the Israelites to go and take the land of Canaan from the infidels and to kill all the inhabitants, but they didn't kill ALL of them and now their wishing they had.

Witness To Palestine
The Palestinian people were the historical Jews. With the influx of Islam, they changed their religion.

The historical roots of the current israelis are the Berbers of Northern Africa and the Khazars of southern Russia. Both groups are converts to Judaism.

The Palestinian people are the original inhabitants.

Yes,
This question pops up every now and then. To cut a long story short away from jokes and arguments, the pals existed before the Jews. Palestine is mentioned in the Torah (Exodus).

To those who pretend stupidity:
Exodus 23 (King James Version): 31 says :

"And I will set thy bounds from the Red sea even unto the sea of the Philistines, and from the desert unto the river: for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand; and thou shalt drive them out before thee." Doesn't it mean the Palestine existed before the Torah and the Jews?

Pals were occupying the coastal area from Gaza yo Haifa with 50 kms depth.

That joke/argument has already been debunked here:
http://www.haloscan.com/comments/levi9909/6677793676022097599/

"Neither were 'Israelis' or 'Israel'; the land of Palestine was known as Canaan, and inhabited by Canaanites who were subsequently driven out or exterminated."

Afterwards, (before WWI and Zionism,) the term Palestine referred to that land. Jews, Arabs and others who lived in that region. they were known as Palestinians.

P.S. The guy who stole Moses's cloths was a Jew himself, trying to propagate the antisemitism propaganda. :)

EDIT to asker,
I'd appreciate it if you elaborated on that. I only mentioned a few facts. (clearly, the postscript was a joke)

Mr. Rieux
I don't believe in the Bible (or any holy book). that was a quote btw. As far as I remember this was also a historical theory. I understand historical evidence from those days are hard to collect. Anyways that was not the point. all 'm saying is that Jews were never the ONLY people who lived there. Neither were they the first people to populate that land.

||edit 2 Mr Rieux|| Reported for chatting ;)

|Edit 3 to Lewis (gettin' too friendly, I know)|| Just kidding about the report, I rarely use that useless function.
