Moonrise

Tie or no tie?

i have noticed in tv shows and festivals that only men over 60 wear a tie or a bow tie.
do young men and women in this category prefer to see the tie or not ?
why or why not ?

I have to wear it in my work, but in some cases it annoys me.

Depends on the situation. I'm 29 and I like wearing ties and I think I look sharp in them.

Yes-it looks good.

Hope
Don't they just look nice with their ties....... let them wear em and have fun.

im very keen on a man to look his best and ties to me mean leadership, respect and classic.

it is something has no meaning but all of us should wear it

Psycho
I admit they look good and all but certainly uncomfortable, I hate formal clothing and I feel confined with all the Protocols..
being an organizer of some conference I'm compelled to wear them every often but I never liked them..

I wear a tie to work. it's elegant but strangulating. I'd rather loose it.

Lady Marie
I think it would depend on the occasion. I am in the 20's category and men my age don't really want to wear ties. I don't understand that. I don't like the sloppy look. If the occasion calls for it you should wear a TIE. I don't know about bow ties.

I prefer to wear it , but in occasions only, or business meetings,

Bcoz that's the traditions all over the world.

heat_rules1201
a tie is for something really formal or if you work some where you have to dress up.

I love wearing ties; especially at work.

However, when the day's done and it's now time to party, I either remove my tie and let loose a button or two. Or I stick with my tie and, instead, fold my sleeves up to my elbows.

Jirach1
No tie, otherwise you feel intimidated in a way and don't want to talk to those people. Dunno why.

HI
I AM NOT OVER 60, but if I am going to a function(wedding etc) I would wear a suit and a tie, if I were to go to dinner I would wear black or whit tie, if I went for a job interview I would wear smart casual and a tie, if I am out for a pint with the lads I would not. When I say tie this also mean a Dicky bow,
also at leisure I could wear a cravat

ElectronProbabilityCloud
Ties are stupid, I don't own one and vow never to buy one.

This is a silly question, no offence.
