themselves, there would be greed even in the absence of money, their needs, limits differ, how they are satisfied, some are never and some are easily satisfied, it's about the me and possession, selfishness

lack of faith in God. like the israelites in the desert when they were sent quails to eat they didnt take only a few, but plenty, because they thought that God wont send anymore, so they eat a few, the rest died and got rotten, but they still eat the rotten meat, then they died of food poisoning. the moto is. dont be greedy and live longer

When you have no faith or belief that everything will be okay you start to hoard and lust for things you don't need or even really want, "Just in case".

Abuse- Starve For - Food, Love or Mistreated to the extent to feel the need to hoard.
Enough Of One Thing- Enough of being used, a way of fighting back, or not getting enough of.

Just my thought on this posting, for all it's worth.
One can't simply answer for others actions or what goes on in their brain, just ours and ours alone. UN less they have shared that information with us mentally, physically and or verbally. ;-)

In my line of work I have discovered that the need to be someone powerful, rich and revered has led a great number of people to be greedy without a second thought for the consequences of their malicious and devious actions. Alot of people lust after what is known as 'the good life', often leading them into the dark pits of the unknown from which very few can find their way out. It's the need to be 'someone' or to have what others don't, or even at times, just to be on the same level as others who have worked hard to get there.
It's almost like a 'quick-fix' to life's problems.

Environment, lack of home training and most of all, lack of true religious understanding. If people grow up in an environment that puts a very high importance to materialism, there is that tendency for them to be so centered in acquiring wealth by any means possible than giving out. Secondly, in a home that the parents fail to teach thier offsprings the moral act of give and take. Where the offsprings get whatever they want but do less to earn them thus inculcating the manner that getting is more than giving. When you take, take and take without giving, it is undiluted greediness. Lastly, I believe that there no religion that encourages greediness, so, people without practical and sincere religious belief would be quite greedy without knowing that vanity equals vanity.

Greedy people are very egotistical and self-centered. They have the "everything for me and f**k you" attitude. At least from what I have observed.

Knowing the power you can have when you have it all, especially money coz lets be honest, almost everyone yearns for status and a chance to live large. We all want it, but we cant all own - thing is we dont want to be in the "cant own/have it" zone...

Seeing the More Richer person A Less Richer becomes Greedy.... There is no Limit of richness, so eveyone become Greedy.
