Most of the world was still tribal type civilizations just years ago. not centuries. While Europe and America advanced, many tribal cultures continued to function even after conquest by the French, British and other European colonial empires. Native Americans were barely past stone age civilization when europeans arrived, both in the north and south continents other than some of the notable civilizations like Incas. The middle east has continued to be tribal based even as its population has swelled, and western civilization has become popular. Essentially while our technology has exploded in its development, our cultures around the world have evolved at a snails pace in most countries. To answer the last question, the middle east was never forward, so it hasn't gone backwards, it just has not caught up to the 1st world cultures of the US, Canada, Austtralia, Japan, western Europe.

I initially thought about answering this question but would rather suggest the Asker find some facts about Arabic culture and their contribution to world culture himself and not take a limited worldview of the Arab people.

It has also been documented and can be readily verified by today's Western historians that when Europe was going through the middle ages the Arab nations kept the flame of knowledge alive, improved upon it and in many cases were responsible for the very existence of that knowledge in the first place.

All Muslim men and women are not savages. There are Muslims throughout the world including 5.8 million Muslims in America. A large number of these are not Arabs who have emigrated but are in fact Muslim converts like myself. I am an American, Caucasian, educated women and you just called me a savage ?
Don't you think it is idiotic generalizations like this that are causing a lot of the problems in the world today? (Did I use too many big words for you.) And the countries of the Middle East have been invaded by one "civilized " country after another in their attempts at colonization. Egypt was a civilized country and had a complex form of government, banking and laws long before any of these "civilized" county's ancestors came out of their caves. The monuments they built have withstood time, weather and mans attempts to destroy them better than any of our modern structures ever will. The Pyramids are built to a construction standard that we still cannot achieve, even with all of our modern machinery. What will all of these building that we are building today look like in another 3000 years? Iraq, the country that we are destroying was the site of ancient Babylon, the site of another of the ancient wonders of the world. Have you ever actually read any history?

Look Islam, firstly, is the worshiping of the only God "Allah". Secondly, it is the religion of peace and racial equallity.

I gave you a "thumbs up" on this question because you have been suspended and because I think you have shown yourself to be the type of person that deserves no respect or honor of any kind. You have made it known to everyone who sees this question that you are what is wrong in this world today.
No matter what your race and/or religion you and people like you are the heart of the problem. Your thinking is what has given birth to the terrorist problems we face today.
Personally, I would have no problem seeing this question removed. On the other hand, maybe it should stay as an example of the type of thinking that needs to be cleansed from this world.
Am I a politically correct thinker? Not at all. I just happen to have lived in a Muslim country for 23 years (I'm Christian) and saw what your kind thinking has brought about first hand.
Why do you think Christians are any better than Muslims? While I don't necessarily agree with all the tenants of the Muslim Faith, I certainly respect their right to believe it.
