Alf Garnett 11

Were you saddened by the death of Luciano Pavarotti?

Apparently when he got to Heaven he was met at the Pearly Gates by St Peter who took him through to meet God and said to Him "Here is that Tenor I owe you."

Pedro PeeWee - Lighten up.That is probably one of the better jokes that will soon be doing the rounds.

Very ! My grandmother had a saying :''ons bly almal een dood verskuldig , ook toevallig die tolgeld na die hemel !''
She was the wisest person that I ever knew ! Nessun Dorma will never be the same !

Alf, I rarely agree with you, but this is a great joke.

Before Luciano got so fat that his breathing affected his singing, he was most probably one of the all time greats. As heavy D said, Nessum Dorma will never be the same. He brought a popularity to classics that we NEVER knew in SA.

BJ
Personally, yes. I think he was the greatest tenor that ever lived.

I don't particularly care at all for opera. All those screeching coloratura soprano's and bellowing basso profundo's make me hostile. But, how I enjoyed hearing Pavarotti sing.

In 2005, he came to the Academy of Music in Philadelphia and I paid $200.00 apiece for 2 tickets.....I wanted to see him so bad and knew he was about to retire.

My dear mother became terribly ill with dementia a month before I was supposed to go and I brought her home to be with me during the end of her life. I was unable to go to the concert so I gave the tickets to my daughter and her son (then 13 years old).

My grandson moaned and groaned about going but his mom drug him anyway. He still talks about how wonderful it was.

I tried to get tickets in 2006 on the world tour and was even willing to fly to London...but was too late - sold out.

The music in heaven is sweeter today.

ha ha I like that!!! Seriously, Pavarotti was a opera legend. Opera is not my scene but you have to respect these powerful singers.

A couple of years ago, I went to Covent Garden & there was a female opera singer there & she was amazing. Her performance left me amazed at how anybody could sing like that!!

Smiley 2
I'm not a fan of opera music but I was saddened by the death of Pavarotti. By the way, thanks for the joke. It's good to have a sense of humour.

?
Yes, I was....I have a collection of almost all his CDs and DVDs........hahaha...and the tenor will start singing "o solo mio!!!!.....and all will join in the chorus......

BTW....there was nothing wrong with your joke....clean and appropriate...doesn't matter who said it first!!!!!

Wonder Star - Why dont you just shoot yourself in the head, you are brain dead and lifeless as it is anyway.
Great joke, thanks.

I am not one for classical music but it is a loss to the music world - he was good

How dare you insult the life of such a Great Opera Singer, i don't find your comment under your question funny at all. Luciano Pavarotti was one of the world's greatest singers, and a lot of people will be saddened by his loss.
