Take a look at the following verses, which are taken from Islamic Holy Books.

1. Now when ye meet in battle those who disbelieve, then it is smiting of the necks. 47:4

2. Believers ... shall fight in the way of Allah and shall slay and be slain. It is a promise which is binding on Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Quran. 9:111

3. Slay the idolaters wherever ye find them, and take them (captive), and besiege them, and prepare for them each ambush. 9:5

4. They long that ye should disbelieve even as they disbelieve, that ye may be upon a level (with them). So choose not friends from them till they forsake their homes in the way of Allah; if they turn back (to enmity) then take them and kill them wherever ye find them, and choose no friend nor helper from among them. 4:89

5. Slay them wherever ye find them, and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out ... if they attack you (there) then slay them. Such is the reward of disbelievers. 2:191

I shall not comment on the fact that this is found in the holy book of a certain. I would not have thought so either.

Because certain Muslims choose not to follow these verses, doesn't make the religion peaceful, it only makes those followers peaceful. The religion itself is still a violent one. So you will forgive me, if I do not see the greatness of a violent religion which cites a pedophile as their prophet.

UNLIKE Christianity and Judaism, the main purpose of Islam is to put on earth the word of god.

in Christianity and Judaism we wait for a messiah. meanwhile we have to prove that we are good. they are nothing like this.

you can say more about the core beliefs of the Muslims, like the way they see women and everything but the above all, the idea of Islam is enforcing god's will on earth.

that has an effect on the mentality on the Muslims and it led them in the past into great atrocities against non Muslims. today, it leads them to an extreme way of thinking.

please don't confuse what I write with the case of Israel, not only the Palestinians are Muslims. the case of Israel has also national and territorial issues, it's not a war - expansion of a religion, like in the past.

Howdy Ms. Miche, The essential element of Islam is that it is The Final Revelation from the Creator..Superseding all other Religions, (because man has corrupted them and 'altered their Books') making Islam the 'Only True' Religion. Islam claims that no Revelation from the Creator will be forthcoming, and failure to embrace the '5 Pillars' will result in torment 'in the grave' (which lasts until the end of the Universe), on 'Judgment Day' (which lasts for 50,000 years), and then more serious 'punishment' in Hell for Eternity. There is a 'get out of Hell' clause for some of the less grievous perpetrators..but only after an 'unknown interval' of very radical 'punishments'...At the CORE..The Muslim contention that they are the only 'Ones' with the Truth is simply arrogant, and dangerous.

from some people answers I feel that I don't need to explain any further as it is clear that they have established the difference between what the media has made of Muslims and what the HOLY QURAN has made of them, however there are a few people who are clearly illiterate and believe every thing they hear, and there are some who have pushed the limit and started putting verses of the HOLY QURAN and interpreting it in there on way. I just want to make something clear yes JIHAD has been mentioned in the HOLY QURAN "shock horror" but the thing is that the Arabic Lang is very complicated and that just by adding a character or adding a word before or after it could change the meaning of the word so every verse that say JIHAD does not necessarily mean what you guys think.
there could be JIHAD in looking after your children or JIHAD in education, but in many verses JIHAD is related to fighting, and ISLAMIC fighting has it principles for instance trees are not allowed to be cut, women and children are not allowed to be harmed basically any thing that can have a long term effect on that nation or any thing beyond just defending your self is HARAM = FORBEDED

It means fight AND ONLY fight back the enemy that comes to your land and tries to take you out of it by harming your wife and children and burning your olive trees and causing great economical disasters.

4- Belief in the Prophets of God
All Messengers and Prophets of God such as Noah, Moses, Solomon, Jesus and Muhammad were mortal human beings endowed with Divine Revelations and appointed by God to teach humankind how to submit to His will and obey His Laws.

5- Belief in Resurrection after Death and Day of Judgment
After the world ends, Muslims believe that all people who have died will be brought back to life (or, resurrected) in order to face the Judgment rendered to each of them by Almighty God. Muslims believe in an appointed Day of Judgment and in Heaven and Hell.

6- Belief in Premeasurement (Qadar)
Muslims believe that Almighty God has knowledge of, and control over, everything that exists in all time and space.

In the beginning, "Since I am a Rabbi", I was going to ask you to put this question in the Ramadan Section

I read a lot about Islam and take my word for what I am going to tell you:
1- Forget about those trolls and fanatics who are shouting Jihad, Jihad and then they kill or bomb innocent people. These do not know about the spirit of Islam.
2- Islam is a direct relation between you and GOD. There is no room for Rabbis and Priests or other beneficiaries in Islam. Those Mullahs or whatever are an invention to control. (same as in other religions)
3- Islam took the best of Judaism and Christianity and put it in one book, Quarn.
