WOW people!!!! Back Off a bit!!
No need to be so rude to the asker!
South Africa is not a country that the rest of the world sees in the news 24/7 like other 1st world countries!
All of you slagging her off should be ashamed.
The best for you would be to go research south africa, as one of the more polite answerers said, go to wikipedia.
There is too many different cultures in SA to give you a simple answer.
Good Luck |

What do they look like? People - you know 2 arms, 2 legs, 1 head and 1 torso
What are they like? Some are very good, some are very bad and most are in between.
What do they like doing? Got to go with Reb here - braai, braai, braai and soccer, soccer, soccer.
What are their jobs? Easier to say what jobs they don't do. They do not shovel snow (in most places), they do not sell downhill skis, they do not make big bucks playing professional hockey although the technology to make artificial rinks is as available to them as anyone else. But you would be dipping into their soccer watching/playing time. Otherwise, they do pretty much the same work as can be found the world over.
How they spend their free time? Besides braais and soccer? Watching Isidingo (a better soap than Days of Our Lives); trying to get the grass to grow; right now, sweeping up jacaranda petals so they do not get tracked into the house; play golf. Teach American tourists how to fend off charging lions and swim with the sharks.(Just kidding!)
http://www.tv.com/Isidingo/show/25997/summary.html
What is their national food? What does it consist of? No idea but I sure liked the oranges that I could buy by the bag for the same money that I can buy a single orange for here in Canada. They make fantastic ice cream - I think they still use real milk and cream. I ate a lot of lamb there - I cannot afford it here! Used to pick lemons off the trees any time I wanted - sometime that involved a bit of a fight with the baboons - and bananas. They have a super choice of fish - scrumptious! Rooibos tea - great stuff and one of the few things I can buy here for reasonable prices!
What do they love eating? They certainly like their braais.
What is the climate there? Depends where you are. Summers are hot. Where I was (Polokwane) they are also dry. Cape Town is renowned for the winds they get. Those pictures of people holding on to lamp posts to keep from getting blown away are not a joke. Winters are cold. It never went below zero while I was there but I was never so cold in northern Canada as I was in South Africa. Reason - No Central Heating!! I admit I am spoiled that way. If you are going between April and September, take a coat, some sweaters and some warm pjs.
What are the special things of this country and its people? Winter weather being the exception - I found everything special. I enjoyed the people - didn't always agree with them but I did enjoy them. I loved the wild life and the plant life. I found the history very interesting and very diverse. If you have been taught that South Africa s a third world - it is NOT. If you have been taught that it is a developing nation - it is not really. It is a country of extremes that is looking to find a middle ground. But no country with the technology, the infra structure and the potential of South Africa can ever be called 'third world" It is a very special corner of the world and I love it!
Have you ever been there? Yes, several times and I lived there for three years not too long ago. I would go back in a fast flash if the airlines did not want my right arm and first born to get there.

Ha ha ha! Did you also think we ride on lions and elephants? We are beautiful and special people!
We have hot chicks and guys in all race.! We are friendly and nicer than British people. We are blessed with lots of different cultures but when our rugby or cricket team is playing we come together and celebrate drinking Black label or Castle lager beer. We have BMW, Mercendes benz, Hummers, Dodge, Posh, Audi etc. We listen to all kinds of music. Nickel Beck, Seether, Usher, 2pac, Akon, Mandoza, Blackie Swart, Watershed, Prime circle, House Music, Kwaito, Coldplay, John legend, you name it we got it. And yep we also have attitudes and we can pull off a Versace, Gucci, D&G, prada, very well. We have sushi, pasta, fries, braai, wors, pap, sheba! We also have Beaches! |

Nick

ARE YOU SERIOUS? OH MY GOD! Why are you all still so stupid!
We look like you do...
We're kinder than you are...
We like doing the same things you do (shopping, movies etc)
Varies from person to person...
I can't really think of one to be honest...
As above
Food would be a good start?
Very hot, very tropical.
Everything and everyone here is special.
I live here. |

What do they look like? We have a diverse population made up of a variety of cultures and that is reflected in our different looks, just as it is in America.
What are they like? Again a range of different people, different attitudes etc. I think we are generally nice and polite but that is not evident here so apologies *blush*
What do they like doing? /How they spend their free time?
Again same as people everywhere else, spending time with friends, going out etc We have good weather so we also like doing things outside a lot. Some South African pastimes would be braaiing (barbequeing), rugby, soccer, cricket, watersports, going to the game reserve to look for animals etc
What are their jobs? Again the same as everywhere else, we are a developing nation and have many professionals and labourers. I suppose due to the fact that we have a lot of natural resources there are a lot of miners? We also have a lot of minimum wage positions, people to pack your bags in the grocery store, fill up your petrol etc And many middle class to upper class families have domestic employees (nannys, maids and gardeners)
What is their national food? What does it consist of? What do they love eating? Braai, Bobotie, Breyani, Bunny chow, koeksisters, melktert, pap, wors, tripe, morogo, biltong, peri peri prawns…(See the links)
What is the climate there? Warm and dry inland. Hot and humid on the east coast. (The links should explain better)
What are the special things of this country and its people? Our diversity -- natural diversity and cultural diversity.
Have you ever been there? Born and bred South African
Hope that helps. |

Ahh well, you already have it figured out, so here's my bullish reply :)
1. We look a lot like those characters from south Park (shock shock, yes we do have South Park)
2. We're an angry lot, mostly in traffic and when the news is on. Otherwise we get sloshed a lot and find any excuse to have a braai (the equivalent of a barbarque)
3. as above, we like getting sloshed and having a braai or a packet of biltong at the office
4. Depends on the season, cold in winter, hot and rainy in summer
5. Watching rugby, soccer, braaing behind out ADT security and elecrtic fences and other sorts of hobbies
6. Maybe the braai and beer is the national food, but there is a variety of people of different races and cultures here, so we all tend to eat the same things but also have different foods from different cultures
7. I'm losing count here...some of these sound redunatnt
umm, well, we're just like americans to a degree, we're bombarded by American culture most of our lives, so if you go outside and look around, I bet you'll experience the same thing. Unless its night time of course... |

South Africa is a beautiful country that has it all. Fauna, Flora, Mountains, Seas, Beaches, Deserts, Bushveld and wonderful sunny weather.
We're a diverse country with diverse cultures, and these cultures enjoy food that's in tradition with their heritage.
The people are friendly and hospitable.
Especially for Seersain...: We don't have trailer parks.
We know our geography.
We answer questions that we have
knowledge about.
We are thinner than ...... most.
We don't like to fight ... the 1994 elections
proved that.
We don't invade countries for personal
gain.
We are great people!!!

I don't mean to be rude or anything but what do you think we look like??? We are humans like everyone else from around the world. We like doing what everyone else i the world likes doing. We shop, go clubbing, go out to restaurants, read, go to the beach etc etc in our free time. National food - dont really know this one because it differs across cultures. It is very hot in the summer months here. Some parts of the country get rain in summer and some in winter. I live in SA so if you have any more questions or if you would like photos etc please email me pegglet2004@yahoo.co.uk |

cmon! We're just like everybody else, there's just a little bit more blacks that screw the country up. We all look like Charlize Theron (she's from South Africa). Our national food is Bobotie, koeksusters, Vetkoek. South Africa is a stunning country, the best place in the world. Just a pity for the informal settlements everywhere. The climate is pretty hot, about 30 degrees. South Africa is great, especially a small town in the western cape called Heidelberg! |
