The SA government is hiding from the truth of AIDS. Instead the Minister of health, Tshabalala Msimang, has been promoting beetroot, potatoes and African plants to cure AIDS.

Not doing too well either, was the recent courtcase with ex-Vice Prezident Jacob Zuma, who told the court in his rape trial that he took a shower after sex with an HIV positive woman, to prevent getting AIDS

President Bush recently donated 14 Billion (that's a B not an M) to Africa to help with its Aids crisis.
The only problem is, the USA provides as long as countries teach Abstinence before all else (condoms should be taught as a last resort), which is ridiculous!
All over Africa there are posters with slogans like "Say No to Sex"
or "Be Faithful to your partner"
They should teach protection first, abstinence second, and instead have more "Wear a condom" and "There is no cure" posters.
People have been having sex for millions of years, nothing we say or do now is gonna make them stop all of a sudden!

In short they are talking about their wonderful new program which is yet to be seen. Manto carries the burden but people are quick to forget that Mbeki is behind the whole approach with his siding with AIDS dissidents. He is the one that should be carrying the can as well as Manto. They have charged the Chief Pathologist of the Free State with writing AIDS as being the cause of death with unprofessional conduct. So it seems the latest approach is not to put AIDS as a cause od death and voila the problem is gone. How can you have and AIDS problem if no one is dieing from it? So it is business as usual with that Minister with the unpronouncable name doing all the talking- between shopping trips to Dubai at taxpayers expense.

thats just the government.
the public is trying trying their best really, doing everything interactive from forums to educating the uneducated, the only thing we foget is that interaction does not neccesarily include sleeping together. Once we get that straight I figure that we will be sorted.

Just talking and making the under takers very wealthy people, the worst effected areas are Kwa Zulu Natal and Gauteng Metro the infection rate is over 50% and climbing every day, we will be importing labour in the near future as a great majority of the active work force are dying in droves.

I agree with answerer above and Poepies as well. Our embarasing Minister of Health who has been promoting garlic,beetroot and whatever as a cure/prescription for AIDS has finally been sidelined after the debacle of the stall at the conference in Vancouver? Anyhow I read an article yesterday that finally there are an inclussive AIDS council that includes outside parties - mainly TAC(treatment actiona campaign) and that there is a more definite plan on the board with clear goals and deadlines in place. It sounds very possitive and we all hope that our goverment will really for once do the job it set out to do with AIDS. But they must seriously look at educating the population that is by an by still very uneducated and believes all sorts of nonsense, the truth about the disease. The best policy would be to be open, honest and forthright about this disease and not hide in darkness and the middle ages as some seem to do.

Too much! Instead of getting funds for less fortunate people, they get funds for people that can't be cured.

Think about it, yes, being HIV positive is devastating and people that are HIV positive needs to get ARV's, but they will die sooner or later. Everything goes towards AIDS victims. Having AIDS doesn't make you a victim. Yes, if you were raped or got it by birth (because your mama couldn't keep her legs closed) you are a victim, but otherwise YOU ARE NOT A VICTIM, having sex is a choice as well as how you are having sex. PROTECTION is the keyword if you are sleeping around.
