What phone you have depends entirely on what you need it for. I've found that a lot of people view cellphones as a status symbol rather than what it is supposed to be - a communication tool.
I personally own two handsets, a Sony Ericsson T630 and W810i. I love music and I found the MP3 player on the W810i to be very useful. I've upgraded the card to 2 gigs so can store enough music on it to get me through a decent road trip. I always read the news so I often use the News Reader application to get news feeds from CNN, BBC, Wired, Boing Boing, Engadget, Gizmodo, Apple News and a few others. I've also downloaded the gmail application so I can check my mail and the Opera Mini browser which allows me to go online and view the websites almost as they appear on a PC. It does have a 2mp camera but as compared to my analogue Canon and my Sony Cybershot the picture quality isn't great.
I use most of the features on my phone but you find many people don't. They buy expensive, feature packed phones and never get around to using all the features. There are other people who couldn't be bothered to listen to music and download news, who just need a phone to call people and send the occasional SMS. The phone needs to work for you not for other people. If it does what you need it to do why worry? If you need more from your phone then get another one - but don't buy one because people are ripping you off. Remember they're not paying for it - you are. |

Hey if it does the job and you like it then that's all there is too it. A cellphone brand doesn't make you a better or worse person.
Mine is a Motorola...something something.
(It's in the other room and I'm not hiking all that way just to find out!) |

no i wont say it gives a bad impression about you, my hubby uses the same phone as you, the reason is because he cant see the need in having a expensive phone. he only wants to make calls and receive calls and send and receive a sms. (by the way he tends to break expensive phones)
me on the other hand loves my Sony Ericsson V600i, can't live with out it. |

Your friend is obviously superficial...
As long as you can make and recieve calls, what more do you want? Wasnt that the initial purpose of a mobile phone? To be able to communicate with people whilst on the move. Plus it wades off thieves who wont take interest in a an old model.
Either way, if you think you're worse you should see what I own. A Nokia NGage, voted worst phone in 03'. That phone means so much to me. I've never lost it for 4 years and I've been doing my own upgrades on it. PLaying music, pictures, video clips, internet, control of my laptop on it. Hooked it up to my cars speakers once when I didnt have a radio. Its done good by me and I'm not letting go of it. |

theres nothing wrong with that phone, my siter has one like that, look at the bright side of life though, the battery can last for a whole week, my ben q el 71 can last 3 days and mxit doesnt work, if you want you can buy a nokia 3210, its really cheap, can take photos and has wap, also a motorola c63, the little black and silver one, the last time I checked it only cost 500rand and it takes mp3s, vidoes, wap enabled and easy to use |

Nokia 6280. I must say if I build a house and my contractor arrives in a 19voertsek bakkie and he uses a nokia 2110 that would be a bad impression. |

I think when it comes to basically using your phone for a diary, fax, email ext, like me, then you would need a newer phone.
I've got the Motorola KRZR! I love it, it is small, handy and trendy!!! I do everything on it, I am a lady who love things that's elegant, smart and the newest technology.
But, I don't think your phone gives a bad impression, if it works for you, then so be it. |

huhhhhhhhhh? This phone?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nokia_1100
There's nothing wrong with the phone except its physical features.
Nowadays, people are using candy bar phones more, but Nokia 1100 is an intermediate of Cumbersome and lightweight.
If you are a teenager and can afford a new stylish cellphone, get one.
But if you can't afford a new one then get used to jokes.
My cousin had Nokia 3310 and i remember, everybody calling it a TIMBER TEL.
Young people will always find means to make their follows feel bad if fellas ain't going with the latest trend in electronics.
Since the cellphone, can make calls, accept calls and send txt msg then it's ok but you gotta deal with the jokes too. |

I pack a Samsung E370, loads of features (email, fax, internet, wap) that I don't use, except for the camera.
Got it as a freebie with the contract I took. Had a Nokia 5110 and 5210 until I got this one.
As someone said a phone is a phone, if it works for you, it's fine. Get some less materialistic friends. |
