What clothes should I take to Egypt in December?

what you are taking sounds perfect for this time of year that's what i am taking when i go on the 28th and come back on the 4th the only thing i would add is maybe take a jacket for the evenings even if it is just a light one as it can get a bit nippy at night. I can't help you with the dinner as i have never been to one or seen one but I'm sure someone will answer that part of you question.

Hi, I live in Cairo and I'm leaving the 23rd on my vacation, and you should definitely not bring a swim suit, shorts or anything short, its cold, like 10 degrees and around 5 degrees at night, bring jeans, jumpers closed shoes and a jacket. Have fun.

What you taking sounds perfect though maybe some cropped light trousers for evening, jeans might be a bit heavy in that heat, have a fantastic time.

well the temperature today in luxor was 21 in the day and 7 at night. my friend who lives there tells me its increasingly cold at night. the temperature may go up as high as mid 20's in the day at midday, but unlikely to go much lower than about 5 at night. i would suggest t shirts for day but you are going to need cardigans and jackets at night. what you describe above sounds ok but i would take a coat or jacket in case you go out at night. i certainly used my coat in February at night.
the suit and knee length dress will be perfectly suitable for the dinner.

the temperature in Cairo would be about 18c am and 9c pm.
in luxor it would be 28c am and 7 c pm .
so, you would wear winter clothes in cairo , and spring clothes in luxor in the morning and a warm cardigan for the evening.
people are dressed up for the 31st . your choices for that evening are perfect , but you will take with you something to keep you warm in the evening .

During these times it is quite cold there. I have seen Egyptians wearing three or four clothes one over the other. I used to examine them for medical fitness in some other Gulf country where there was quite a mild sort of winter. .When ever I asked 'why are you wearing so many clothes?,it is not that cold. they said" Egypt is very cold now. Funny isnt it?
