What do Arabs think about Anwar Sadat?

the first Arab president to make peace with Israel. Is he a good guy in the eyes of the Arab world?

He's one of the most controversial chacters and presidents in the Arab world. Most of Egyptians love him so much and see him as the best. As he's the president who liberated Sinai from the israeli occupation after waging a successful war in 1973 (6th October war or yum kippur war as israelis call it)
(the main reason most Egyptians like him)

Some others dont like him and some others are totally against him specially the pro Nasser league : )

Many arabs dont seem to like him for recognizing and signing a peace treaty with israel. (the main reason they dont like him or dont see him good)
but there exist different reasons for sure ... like in Libya he was in conflict with the libyan president whom he called "the mad man of libya" "magnoon libya" and it ended in The Egyptian-Libyan war in 1977.
Iran (despite not being arabic) doesn't like him as he was against the "islamic revolution" and he was so friendly with the shah of Iran whom he even hosted in Egypt after the revolution.

However in Egypt he is so beloved, he was victorious he liberated Sinai, and even those who assasinated him came after decades to say they were wrong and that he was a martyr.

Personally I like him and respect him so much. though I might disagree on some of the details of what he did.
The worest thing he ever did and his biggest crime towards Egypt IMO was selecting Mubarak as his vice and then editing the constitution of Egypt. :D

Masrawy
some loves him
some hates him
some dont care
some dont know

for me he make a great move making the peace with israel , the other arabs waited 25 years to understand this was the right move but it was too late .

He was the best president in the arab world.... He managed to face the problem not ignore it till it gets bigger and bigger

Wise Heart
I respect him like most of the world do.

Israel also should learn from Sadat and what he did for his people. Sadat knew that peace was not easy and went for it. He is the hero of the war decision and peace decision too.

Queen
so smart .

Moonrise
the people delude themselves abt him , but he is the best leader in the Middle East .
the fact that he made peace with Israel shows that he was ahead of his time .
he was creative , and had a vision .
Prophet Mohamed made peace with his enemies bec he thought abt what was best for his people .
the same with Sadat .

G. #2
I think he is the father of president Mohammed Anwar El Sadat

if u say to choose between iran and israel i choose israel yes i know israel is open enemy we have full ieman on it that jews and chiristians are our open enemy but iran is a hide enemy so we choose open enemy when prophet(sas) went to madina he knew that jews are our enemy but he want to peace with them like Muhammad(sas) we want peace while israel want peace but iran is a country of munafiq people and munafiq will be in deepest part of hell

First, he was half Arab(Egyptian Semitic White father)-half Black(Sudanese-Nubian-people of Kemit Black mother)-denied this until shortly before his death. Arabs are split about equally on their thoughts about him.
