i also think that it is a dusgusting thing that people do... they have no respect for themselves and the people that they are harming.. yes harming when people do things like this they are harming others!!!

if someone does really love someone they met on the net and want to marry them.. they should go the country that they are living in and get the visa /citizen ship before asking for that persons hand in marriage and that way it will be loyal.. and / or they can get married and stay living in the counrty they already are in....

i hate ppl that do those things and i am 100% against al this stuff!! it doesn not only happen in egypt but all over the world!!

ugh!!! u just reminded me of what i live through every single freaking day!! i am middle eastern and i am a U.S citizen and i have been asked by many men to marry them and these men are back in my home country, i don't even know them!! they say stuff like they want to marry me because they know my dad is a good man and we are a good family and they want to marry into it, bullshit!! it gets me so pss'd off because i want to marry for true love but these stupid men come and play with girl's minds and marry them and ruin their life all because they are selfish, but u know i can't do nothing about it, 7isabhom 3nd allah, and i hope they pay the price for this...

i think its immoral and should surely be against every religious law, what ever the religion. and it is not just American women many European women get the same.
you could argue the women are getting something from the relationship but in my experience they only thing they get is a broken heart. The problem as you well know ruby is that many western women dont realise they are being lied to. Yes they are naive, yes they are gullible, but the men do seem to know exactly what to say. And most European women are not used to this kind of treatment and believe what they are being told. if its not a passport they want then its cash and i have heard many horror stories on my visits and seen several Egyptian men get rich very quickly. i can only think of one way to describe these men and that is male prostitutes, because that is what they are.
and yes wally women do it too.

First of all, as a Muslim I would like to say that any man who follows this kind of practice is going against the teachings of Islam, and is asking for trouble.

But let me just say some things in general since you didn't specify that it was Muslim men, but that it was Middle Easterners(who could be Muslim, Christian, or something else). Obviously, if a man is marrying a lady merely because of her citizenship in a certain country, then he is setting himself up for lots of pain and a big mess down the road. So don't worry about them, because surely they will experience misery and regret later on. Because once the kids come around and issues come up then his true colors will probably come out.

I feel sorry for those women that fall for men like that. Those kids of men, like you said, are indecent and actually cowardly and selfish. But we should be careful not to judge other people's intentions.... it could be that the woman's citizenship is just one reason, not the only reason. In this case, if the man found the lady to be compatible in all other areas and to be a good and righteous woman then I think it's OK. The fact is, it is incredibly difficult for Middle Eastern men to immigrate and become US citizens nowadays. And can we blame them if they would be interested in coming to the US? The economic situation in the Middle East is not very promising right now. Did you know that in countries like Egypt it is very difficult for most young men to afford apartments and to support wives. Did you know that divorce laws are becoming unfair towards men in Egypt? A lot of these men over there probably feel helpless. But of course I'm not justifying that they marry an American woman just for her citizenship. However, for those men who believe in the American dream but would otherwise have no other ways to come to America it's a tempting option. And I feel that if they are going to be responsible and love their American wife and treat her right, then in that case it should be OK.

The family and friends of the lady should be the ones who are on the look-out for signs of a husband who has ulterior motives. They should advise the lady if they see that this man may be looking to divorce her in the future. For example, if the man is much younger than the woman, as you said, that is a sign. Also, if the man has a much lower socioeconomic level than the lady then that is a sign also. And there are other signs too - so I think the lady's parents should go and meet the potential husband first.

So to wrap this up, I think that men who are looking to marry US citizens just to come to the USA are sleazeballs, and that in one way or another they'll have to pay for their actions. As economists would say, there ain't no such thing as a free lunch.

Women do it too. From the Russias, South America, Mexico, Asia. All are looking for a better life and if it means marrying a man from America to get it, they will try it.

in general marriage occur for some reasons from the followings:
love
business
better life for both or one
good sex
get something lost......etc

dear ruby this problem i faced,a man i know who is relative to me know a girl related to his wife want me to marry that girl and she hold the US citizenship ,he tried to convince me to marry her and leave to the US but i don't care about the citizenship ,every man try to do something like that he is a loser

lots of people have wrong reason to get married.

1) someone for citizenship, move to better place, and maybe UAE or whatever.
2) someone is for money, the man can take are of them, and they may be just lazy, because they don't want to work.
3) just to be married. some women are afraid to be alone, and they don't love but just get married to be married.

you need to be fortunate to have a good relationship, because right person, right time, right place, and right mood to do so. and there is not easy.

Have you heard of russian and fillipino mail order brides look it up on the internet you'll also find some very sad stories of women using the men after they get their citizenships and leaving those guys

This is against all religion and moral codes. These men are very bad. I feel so angry when I think of them.

I recently made a holiday to Egypt to recover from an illness, and such 'men' were trying to con me in such a way.

Now I'm not niave just paranoid and bitter LOL so I didn't fall fall such a con, but it is still very HURTFUL and INSULTING.
It makes me feel like a joke, like they think am not aware that I'm nolonger beautiful and young, but they rub it in that I am also stupid, to fall for such a trcick and a lose woman to make 'friends' with a strange woman.

By trying it on with older western women these men are showing that they have no respect for these women, and treating them as objects.
