The Union Jack of Great Britain...my birthplace ! Colourful & full of meaning & history

The Australian Flag with the Union Jack in the corner which denotes our early settlement & heritage with the stars of the Southern Cross denoting our geography& statehood

Then there's the Lebanese Flag , full of history & symbolism ....the flag of my heart !

I have 2, both have significance for me.

But from an artistic point of view, I don't like the Australian at all. I think that it is too English and needs to be Australianized.

The Lebanese, I love, it is very symbolic of what we are.

I have 2. Uruguay and Lebanon ( this last one everyone here knows it so well)... so I'll discribe my country one that is so beautiful too.

Uruguayan Flag

That is the official flag of URUGUAY, that got the Independence, on 25th august 1825.

WHY ME???

I love the Greek flag because it has a lot of meaning behind it.

As you many know the Greeks were slaves to the Turks for 400 years. On March 25th of 1821 is considered the Greek Independence day. That day was also the Assumption of St Mary according to the Easter Orthodox Calendar. That day the priest Germanos blessed the Greek flag which back then was blue with a white cross in the middle and asked God for freedom. The Greeks that day swore the oath of "Freedom or Death"

After many years the flag changed to a cross on the upper left side and 9 stripes (blue and white)

9 stripes = 9 syllables for the expression in Greek "Freedom or Death"

Also Blue = symbolizes the clear blue skies and seas of Greece

And white = symbolizes the color of freedom, and also many of the white houses that the Greek islands are known for.

And the Cross= To Our religion, Because Greece is the only country in the world that is officially Orthodox.
